i was born in 1977. the music i grew up on was one thing.. very moving. now when i say that the avett brothers are a change in the music industry, they really changed music. like the beatles did. nirvana and all that 90's music was great but most of the lyrics that they sang about were nonsence. the Avett brothers are one of the greatest bands to walk the face of the earth teaching a message of love truth and honesty.

The issue isn't coming first, it's being artistically honest. The Avetts sound comes from their life and influences not an effort to be different. M&S were prep school kids hanging in the West London music scene (world center of trendiness) when brits were started to catch on to the rising grassroots following of organically formed US roots-rock bands.

M&S isn't as talented. They have the chops to write Kings of Leon-esque radio hits, but nothing that will really hold up over time.

Langhorne Slim opens for the Avett Brothers fairly often. That's about as good as it gets. That way you can see two of the great bands that organically birthed this roots rocks movement. With the Avetts and Mumford you get one dynamic band that birthed the movement, alongside a one dimensional imitation band.

Langhorne opens for the Avett Brothers in upcoming shows in Dallas, TX and Houston, TX and at Harding University in Searcy, AR. Go if you can.
