Bloody nice guy Merv, and all the other guys who played down at Old Dear Park in the 70s. Id go down there to train and play in the school holidays. A lot of the first team were part of fantastic Welsh teams not to speak of the `71 and `74 Lions, but they could not have been nicer to us kids. Theyd buy you (soft!) drinks in the bar too! You really forgot you were passing the day with rugby Gods. They were just friends who knew everybodys name. Brilliant times!
