This game got bad reviews but I think its because its not as "Fast Pace" as something like modern warfare... I like the challenge of this game. Also I thought that the first few missions as the Union weren't as good as when you fight as the South. The Southern side feels more real because your boys got your back and more teamwork is involved.

This game has nice graphics and animations, but there is obvious usage of call of duty engine. This can be seen in crappy melee and no riding. Otherwise the atmosphere is quite well done. Funny thing, the game was produced in Slovakia (which is not Slovenia! I wish tho).

For those who want multiplayer, you can get mount&blade and grab some mods about it, the animations aren't that nice, but you have decent melee and riding horses.

I think this video shows that modern tactics isnt really working. You can't run into 4 soldiers alone with a musket thinking "hey im killing them!". if you have a musket that needs to be loaded after each shot, then it is NOT a good choice to run into a group of enemies, miss the target and then goof around while loading the gun. You were saved by your allies several times here. charging is foolish, if not used properly.

Obviously you didn't play this game.What you said about repeaters are true, although they may not be avalaible already in first level and you may not be always carry one at the beginning of the level.But still you get them quite fast.Especially game encourages to use repeaters, because their ammo (which is shared) is limited to 100, while for single shot is limited to 10. Basically you don't need to use muzzleloader,except maybe in the beginning of first level,where is only gun.

You know what's even funnier? Call of Duty was originally intended to be as historically accurate as possible with Call of Duty 1 & 2. Infinity Ward originally consisted of people who worked on Medal of Honor, but left because EA wouldn't let them incorporate their ideas to make the games seem like they were actually in the war.

This is not at all like Civil War battles were fought, they many times started out in formation then when in battle men would run all over and fire from cover with thousands of men running everywhere. In most battles one side was attacking and the other defending from trenches or fortifications and the battles moved back and forth as they woukd capture ground then be driven back.

Yes, they had sniper rifles in the civil war....although they were referred to more as sharpshooters and the rifle they used was likely a sharps rifle. You would be shocked at how accurate even a black powder rifle can be and the error is usually in the shooter. Although the optics were not what we have today, they would even have scopes attached to some.  Check out some info on Berdan's Sharpshooters to be really impressed with these guys marksmanship.
