Hi, I live in Brazil-São Paulo and I want to know if have a condition to you or some one inform me how can a bay one of this MC 909 used or new in there and sand to my City, if have a shop instruments or some like this.(web site)
Please contact me in this e-mail ( albery777@hotmail.com)
I just wanted to write and say thank you to everyone who continues to watch and comment on this video! Bear in mind that it is over three years old now and I have moved on a lot since I made this. Check my newer videos as well and thanks for all the love and support. Simon
Reminds me of chicago in 1987-88. Nothing wrong with the repetitiveness but at one point it sounds like there is no groove(swing). I own a fantom which this is inside of and it sounds like all that is needed is a means to make the bass knock a bit more(compression). It sounds light on the low tones. Granted the speakers on my computer are no good. nice one.
@EvilKnebl Hehe thanks for the comment - understood about the repetition...it's quite difficult to make lots of changes when playing live as I only have two hands! Thanks for watching.. :-)
@siedgey mate u talkin about two hands, obviously everyone has two hands, but still have to know how to use those two hands lol i mean u have to have that skill, great job what u done in that vid pal! :)
just subscribed to your channel...really like what you do...mc 909 is wikid...its a crying shame they are discontinued cos im damn tempted to get one after seeing your vids giving it a good spankin ;).....great work ,keep em comin.
@tekton1000 Hey man, thanks for the comment and the sub - much appreciated! Hehe yeah the 909 is a beast alright - it's limited but excellent fun..might be able to pick one up on Ebay if you keep your eyes peeled! Thanks again.
my god this machine is amazing! it seems quiet big (i prefer smaller toys for gear) but is amazing! i guess wont be easy to carry around for gigs but sound sweet!
nice tunes by the way..... had a lot of fun listening
Not bad at all man, kinda has a soma records vibe about it, though i have to say, by putting in some cut up vocals stabs, FX this would definately lift the track, and maybe another synth riff to bounce off the organ sound.. good stuff :)
Thanks for watching! I have used both machines and to be honest they are both excellent in their own way. If you have the chance to demo them then do that, otherwise try and find out which one suits your style better. The plus point of the 909 is it has a sampler, synth engine and a more detailed sequencer. Hope that helps!
Mesmerizing fuckin-A awesome holy shit. I have an MC-909 and I was using it in a totally different way and this whole time I was thinking "NO FUCKIN WAY" I would just use the 909 to make patches and play guitar and keyboard over it, sometimes doing some live warping like you'd do, but MAN! You are in command, making all those tracks, knowing what number they were assigned to, no mistakes, you are somethin else. Just don't get too caught up in taking awesome drugs for music and then burn out.
Hey man, thanks for the comment. The LFO is nice - it's got a knob to smoothly change between waveforms that the LFO uses which is great, and it's easy to change the clock setting to get that mad dubstep sound. But...the sounds are probably a bit outdated for that genre. It can be done, but I would recommend the Access Virus - a dubstep MONSTER. :)
Amazing stuff. So could this unit produce a track like this straight out of the box? Or have you loaded your own samples and patterns onto it etc. Also would you reccomend it over its successor, the 808?
Hey man, thanks for the comment! All the sounds in this video are straight out of the 909 - either preset or created by me! It's great fun to be able to do a whole track in one box. I prefer it to the 808 personally because of all the additional knobs, but the 808 is awesome as well and definitely has advantages! Try them out if you can before buying. :)
i got a roland mc 909 online but some of the keys don't work properly and others don't even work. do you know if there is a clinic or a webpage to buy spare parts for my 909???
Hi there, sorry about the late reply - it might be worth getting in touch with Roland directly about this. I'm sure they will sort you out with spares no probs. :)
Hey man, thanks a lot for the comment! Yeah I messed up on the recording here. I just recorded it too loud into the computer, hence the nasty digital distortion noise. It was two years ago though, have a listen to my newer stuff, it is much better recorded! Thanks for listening.. ;)
Hey Maarten, thanks a lot for the comment! I'm glad that you enjoyed listening even though it's not your normal style. Playing with grooveboxes is always good fun! It's limited, but sometimes thats a good thing as you actually finish a track rather than the endless tweaking that software allows! Anyways, thanks again..check out my stuff on Beatport if you are interested! It's Simon Stokes.. :)
Good, proper minimal techno dude.... I can tell you without hesitation that you would be welcome at any underground Detroit techno party.... period. Keep it up! I would certainly pay a cover to come see and hear you throw that down on an appropriate system.... Thanks for putting it out there. I'm enjoying it!
Shit man, this was stupid good. I was researching if I wanted to buy one or not, so I was listening to this whole track while I was doing it. I like it, I might just buy one now. a month worth of hardcore research, and I might have finally found what I am lookin for.
Hi microwalnut, thanks for the comment man! I'm glad you liked the video...the 909 is a great bit of kit but it takes some time and patience to learn (like any groovebox!). If you've come from software you'll feel limited but when you learn to work within those limits it's so much more fun than software. Check out some of my later vids if you're interested! It's hilarious that the MC-909 was viewed as super-cool when it was new, went through a period of being shunned, and now I'm seeing a lot of people bringing them back.
They really are AWESOME drum machines and basic synths. They only lack analogue-y sounds (they have them, but they're sample based and they're not as rich as more modern virtual analogues).
Hey there, thanks for watching and for the comment! It's always the way, if you know what you are doing with any box of knobs you can make some decent music! It's incredibly easy to make bad music on the 909 but if you stick at it it is brilliant fun. Thanks again! :)

good basic skills !! i used to enjoy myself with 4 beats patterns when i was bored, back in the days...making a real track is much more complicated, fortunately
Hey man, hehe yeah I know what you mean! These little loop based tracks are great fun to play live, but if you wanna check out my proper stuff search Simon Stokes on Beatport! Thanks for watching man.. ;)
