Right now we are going thru a hard time, moved our 5 kids from Oregon to Texas to try and give them a better life and things have just gotten worse, we might be getting evicted soon, and this song is helping me to try and stay strong thru this for my kids.

We lost my brother to a drunk driving accident back in 2002, June 30th. The anniversary of when he was taken approaches & the painful hell of the tragedy is as fresh as it was the day we lost him. The wails of grief my mom cried at his funeral are forever embedded in my memory. It never has healed. I played this song for her; he was her only son. I sang this, and "How can I help you say good-bye" to my father when he was on his death bed when i was trying to convince him that I would be ok and didn't want him in pain anymore... he passed away less than half an hour later... I truely believe he was trying to hold on as long as he could and needed us to let him know we would be ok. Now when I hear these songs I think of him and smile that he's not in pain but cry at the same time.

@stevilynn724 In '07 my best-friend,37, died of cancer in Virginia. I was in Oklahoma, and flew out there. His family told me he wanted to tell me goodbye and that he loved me, which he did. Then he died. He waited for me to say goodbye then died within the hour. He too hurts no more! They say "grief is the price we pay for love", but I know that love has a way of healing our hearts. If I hadn't had that chance to say goodbye it would of bothered me until the day I died... and he knew that.
i lost 3 of my bestfriends in one day...and a couple years later i lost my grandfathers...this always plays in my head when i think of them....it helps...

I cant tell one of them really doesnt like me and she always treats me like shit. with her its lets flip a coin today and see if were going to be nice to her or not. then theres another one that will always choose the one over the other all she cares about is the other girl i hate middle school girls are so mean

@mjcountry59 it gets better. :) I've been there I know what you're talking about. when you get to high school, you find out who your true friends are. I'll be a senior next year and I have only kept 2 friends since freshman year. They're my best friends, you'll find friends like that. Just keep your head up and stay true to yourself. Don't try to please others if they're just mean to you. :)

We lost my brother to a drunk driving accident back in 2002, June 30th. The anniversary of when he was taken approaches & the painful hell of the tragedy is as fresh as it was the day we lost him. The wails of grief my mom cried at his funeral are forever embedded in my memory. It never has healed. I played this song for her; he was her only son. I'm glad all of us can share in drawing from the simple strength of this song. Thanks, everyone, for sharing your stories. Please don't drink & drive.

I had emergency brain surgery to save my life in 2001, this song was playing on the radio the day I rode home. This became my motivation to walk and talk again, now in 2011 I am an RN in an ICU ...and I pay it forward to my patients that are struggling to cope and feel defeated to listen to this song...and truly feel the words.

I sang this, and "How can I help you say good-bye" to my father when he was on his death bed when i was trying to convince him that I would be ok and didn't want him in pain anymore... he passed away less than half an hour later... I truely believe he was trying to hold on as long as he could and needed us to let him know we would be ok. Now when I hear these songs I think of him and smile that he's not in pain but cry at the same time.

@stevilynn724 In '07 my best-friend,37, died of cancer in Virginia. I was in Oklahoma, and flew out there. His family told me he wanted to tell me goodbye and that he loved me, which he did. Then he died. He waited for me to say goodbye then died within the hour. He too hurts no more! They say "grief is the price we pay for love", but I know that love has a way of healing our hearts. If I hadn't had that chance to say goodbye it would of bothered me until the day I died... and he knew that.
