  • i transcribed the original McCoy Tyner version of this last month (though i added three horns to the arrangement). Its a great composition but i never seem to hear it ever played on jazz gigs (or otherwise recorded). Took me ages to obtain the cd of it. Its quite strange because 'on paper' it looks as though its a much SLOWER tempi/composition !!

  • Just landed here as I'm practicing my electric bass that I first picked up aged 51. Although not quite ready to tackle something like this, can I say how much I admire this piece and how it's being played. I try to pick up on some of the bass part. Any ideas for similar stuff that more of a beginner might enjoy and benefit from?

  • How long have you been playing for?

  • les explications claires et pratiques sur le jazz modal sont rares, merci beaucoup!

  • Thanks. This helped me understand modal jazz a little better.

  • A wonderful post, even for mere jazz listeners who leave tutelage to the likes of Herbie Mann ; )
