I loved all 3 of them on BP (Peter Purvis, Lesley Judd and John Noakes) but Go With Noakes was the must-see of the summer holidays (along with Why Don't You - and that Learn To Swim programme)...and was repeated year after year. Like someone else has posted, John Noakes really was the reason I watched BP although I always felt a disappointment or sadness in his interviews on Wogan, etc following his glory years - just didn't seem the same man. Perhaps understandable if his career was thwarted.
I've been searching for this series for years with no success. When you look at the amount of dross that is available in the shops -It's a crime that this series is not available commercially.
Maybe that old hag Biddy Baxter put a spanner in the works ( like she did with John and Shep's commerical ventures after Blue Peter !) Noakes' bitterness was fully justified - he put his neck on the line time and time again and the BBC cut him loose and discarded him.
Yep - he bought it at Shep's request. It was in pieces in an old lady's garage and he got it all fixed up and went to the scrap yard to get 'new' doors and bonnet and boot, I think. I remember him painting them all red before fitting them. Wish I could get hold of the series on DVD!
John Noakes! , they guy is a legend , would love to get the episode where he is a wrestler , he took a right hammering , glad you like the post Della, best wishes

Oh yes! Holiday programmes. This would have been on after Pink Panther, Silas or Huckleberry Finn, Why Don't You... , and Junior Kick Start!

Flamin' 'eck, Go with Noakes. Oh my goodness me. What a lovely trip into my childhood. I watched this religiously when I was a kid. Loved it.
Good old Noaksie. I always enjoyed his presentations - Twas the only reason I watched Blue Peter.
Cheers for posting this Labrokesmafia. Muchly appreciated indeed
