it is not like that. you still can know what's true - by cross examining and comparing different sources and facts and reality, and employing your own intellect.
if you work for government - you will know only as much as your position will allow you. but most likely you won't be allowed to speak u the truth. that's why as you can see - many ppl either they get fired if they try speaking the truth, or they break the silence after they quite or retire.

Iran is always an option - as any war in times of crisis is used as a means to solve internal problems. it only can be out of question if Ron Paul or one of 3rd parties becomes a president - which is very unlikely.
otherwise specialists say attack on Iran is inevitable. and even is already underway covertly - although officially public doesn't know it.

the very fact that there are ppl like you who at least ask questions, have doubts and endeavor to understand - is already a huge change ! and there are A LOT of people like that, and more - some who know better and do something about it.
so, I sincerely believe that something will change: coz too huge momentum for it. one thing is sure: it can't remain like it is now. it is a crisis - sort of tip of hill from where it can roll either side, but can't stay there for long !

as for Putin - I think he has already got pissed and events in Georgia reflected that. however I don't think that he is so reckless. as you can see - he has made a clear message to EU and US: "enough of unipolar world, let's live in community", and looks like the message got through. hopefully it won't be completely ignored and hotheads will not mess it up.

Putin is not an angel, far from it. but he is no-BS guy. he hardly wastes time to talk BS. he is judoka - a fighter and a warrior. in ancient India this sort of people were considered as natural leaders. as a judoka (master of judo) he applies to daily life the concept of "pushes and balances" on which judo is based: balance your own weight and use opponent's weight against him. as a warrior / soldier - he is disciplined. Bush - at best is a merchant, not really fit to be a leader.

so, what I am trying to say is - it is not so easy to really piss him off (to unbalance) ! coz he is too well aware of this tactic and pretty skillful in it. which was demonstrated in Geordia events. and since he is highly disciplined (which is essential for fighter) - he knows restrains and limits.
therefore I think guys who tried to piss him off hopefully must learn some lessons. better to be friends and partners for mutual benefits !

well, you can read article about him on Wikipedia (as I recall I got it from there).
accordin to it - I think he studied German while in school. English he started to learn while already working in government. and reportedly he already could exchange some jokes with G. Bush at G-8 summit in S.Petersburg. now I guess he can speek more or less fluently.
