I love Elvis. I have a couple hundred of his songs on my iPod touch that I constantly listen to. Some of my friends are skeptical of my selective taste in music, but I tell them when I listen to an Elvis song like Indescribably Blue or American Trilogy and hear Elvis' overpowering, heavenly voice...there aren't many people that can compare to him. He truly was blessed by God with a beautiful voice, and I'm proud of his fan community and their dedication to remembering and celebrating his life.
i love this song sooooooo much,,,, first heard it when i was 12 years old,, now 27... classic,,, luv Elvis,, i wish i was around when he was ,,,,, luv him so much
@MrElvis96 I looked online at a few different place and they all said the same thing but really not a likely that I asked Elvis himself because I'm only 15 lol.
reminds me of the first time my friends heard this song. we considered this my father's music. We played it for the friends and they clowned us about this even still today. We as kids and not use to any Elvis at that time, living in a major urban city and listening only to rb and soul was laugh at and even said my dad was lame. But this wasn't his choose either, he worked at Maplewood Apartments as a janitor and moved unwanted stuff in lockers.
Wow, somehow I've never heard this one before! Though I do recognize some of the lyrics that were borrowed for another song (the part about the fortune teller). Definitely love this song!
Elvis was obviously a Native American or American Indian- I don't know which one is the politcally correct one. .. I know it doesn't matter but look at him
@Perracona all his octives are the greatest lol just personal prefence, late 69 to 73 is my personal fav, but the early stuff is pure genesis, i just enjoy the mature taste of his later music, the orchestra his full band, the back up singers and not to mention the best front man in the world, but any elvis song will give me my fix ina pinch, but as far as best voice tracks anything gospel takes the cake
i wish i was around when he was alive and i wish i was around when Michael Jackson was black from the 80's and back past that he was sort of wierd but i still liked him alot
... a pretty neat Elvis song. Not too heavy, not too light... just right! A fun one to sing and play guitar along with. Elvis is boss king #1. -- -Wally
A great Elvis song - this could have easily been a major hit single on its own had it not been coupled with "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" He had so many great two sided records - a buyer really got their money's worth with an Elvis 45 (or 78) single.
I have to disagree with this. This song has been a top favorite of mine by E 4 almost 25 years, & I listened with interest to a live interview with Paul Evans (co-writer) & legendary oldies DJ Norm N. Nite about 15 years ago. Paul said they wrote the song with Fabian in mind actually. Fabian never picked it up (or did anyone else, including Cliff) until Elvis did. Paul said it blew him away that Elvis wanted one of his (well, co-written songs.) I only wish I had taped the interview 2 back me up.
Hi i agree with you too, infact Paul Evans went on to write Something Blue in 1962 and Blue River in 1963, which Elvis did 2 beautiful renditions of both songs
Elvis sang 'Apron Strings' whilst sitting at a piano, during some home recordings in Germany, whilst doing his national service in 1959, and was just jammin around. regarding 'I Gotta Know' Elvis had just finished his 2 year stint in the army in March 1960 and went straight to the studios, to record some songs, i believe I Gotta Know was thrown into the pot for him to sing, he had no knowledge Cliff Richard had even recorded it!, To him a fun song, sung in under 10 mins, still the best version
I have xm satellite and they have Elvis channel, love it! that is where I heard this song and I cant find it anywhere on the internet so I just listen to over and over on you tube.....tell me if you love me yes or no.....I gotta know gotta know gotta know.....yes Elvis, we love you!!!!!
he looks a bit chubby in the beginning I thought he was in the army about that time. A question jackie do you know how expensive an autograph of him is or better is there any way to get one
Written by Paul Evans and Matt Williams. Elvis recorded it April 4, 1960 at RCA's Nashville Studios. The single released #20 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart during its 11-week stay and became a million seller. It was the B-side to Are You Lonesome Tonight. It is available on Elvis' Golden Records Volume 3; Elvis: Worldwide 50 Gold Award Hits; and From Nashville to Memphis: The Essential 60s Masters, which is where this version is from.
And as far as I know it was originally done by Cliff Richard and the Shadows - recorded July 26, 1959 at Abbey Rd. It was on their second album - Cliff sings. Paul Evans used to write for the Kalin Twins. When the Kalin Twins came over to the UK in 58 Cliff was the support. Did they give him this song on that tour? Did someone do it before him? In the Elvis discography book (Martin Hawkins and Colin Escott) it doesn't mention who did this song first - I think they assume that Elvis did it first.
Elvis will always be the one and only "King Of Rock 'N' Roll". I've always loved this very fun and magnificent song so very much. Elvis easily has the very best rendition of it. I loved this video a whole lot, 10 Stars as always Jackie.
So smooth....in the early 60's before all the movie nonsense, he was at the height of his enormous talent.
