  • Yeah. It's a mixed con to being an atheist: you value life so much more, so the impact of a death can hit you like a hammer.

  • Animals don't have the "same moral status" of humans? I'm not sure what that means. Our morality is a variation of other animal behaviors. There's nothing special about it. I wouldn't blame anyone who looked at how meat is processed and chose to stop consuming that food because of its cruelty to animals. I'm also not sure abt "everything evolved to eat everything else" as an argument against vegetarianism. She seems a little confused to me.

  • Is the atheist experience affiliated with any atheist organization in Canada? If so can you post a link...thank you.

  • I would define "faith", as it appears in a religious context, as a form of mental atrophy wherein the mind's innate ability to reason has been deliberately suppressed and rendered ineffectual after having been replaced by a blind acceptance of unproven concepts and myths with no evidence to support them Those willing to supplant scientific inquiry with these myths have effectively flipped a switch in their brains which turns them 'off' and renders them incapable of receiving new information.

  • There is perfect justification for eating meat: we wouldn't be here typing on this comment board if we hadn't ever begun to eat meat.

  • @xESOTERlC thats not a justification. Do we just keep doing things because it worked once upon a time? There are loads of things that happened in history that were beneficial to society in the long run that are unethical or unnecessary now. Now its a choice not a necessity.

  • @TheDharmawheel loads? Name one thing that was once beneficial to society in the long run that is now unethical or unnecessary(implying it wasn't at that time). Your "ethics" are subjective. . As you just proved, they are only as relevant as your opinion. You might as well be a christian because you've established that you revolve your life around a system of beliefs as opposed to empirical absolutes.. and even your beliefs are dynamic.

  • @xESOTERlC "one thing that was once beneficial to society in the long run that is now unethical or unnecessary (implying it wasn't at that time)"?

I think what you see as implied is actually an underdeveloped statement. I see Dharma pointing out that some things (such as the Tuskegee Experiment and the Rhesus monkey trials) were not readily perceived as unethical by the practitioners, and such is the case with human/animal testing today. Another: praying instead of providing medical treatment.

  • This is the most adorable goddamn show in the history of all time.

  • Wouldn't it be funny if Beth was double pranking Matt by pretending to be a Christian pretending to be an Atheist , being a Christian , and on their wedding night drops the bombshell by insisting the kneel down before God to bless their marriage

  • @jontibloom perfect reason for an annulment right there! ; )

  • Also, if the presumtion was that you have only the rights that are enumerated... then how would we have the right to enumerate a set of rights to begin with? ;)

  • Fooled me completely. Mainly due to the accent.

  • I have faith in science because I don't need to take on faith what science tells me.

  • Is it just me, or does Matt's girlfriend look like the Mona Lisa?

  • @lynnmist123 It's been suggested by some art historians that the cause of Mona Lisa'a smirk is that the painting is a self-portrait.

  • Matt for President.

  • Actually whenever Dillahunty talks about meat-eating or some other non-atheist issue it's where I start to find him rather unconvincing.

He's great at arguing atheism. But hooboy could a clever theists EASILY turn his argument for meat eating against him, and turn it against him HARD.

  • @TheSkunkCat

    I mean, now I'm an atheist. But if I was a theist I could easily argue this;

Matt believes killing and eating animals, which have the capacity to suffer is morally okay because he deems animals inferior to himself.

An all powerful deity would be vastly superior to a human. And much more so then a human is to animal. To a deity the human and animal would be nigh indistinguishable in fact compared to itself.

Therefor a deity can do what it wants to humans because it's superior

  • @TheSkunkCat

I mean I don't think that's a good argument actually. I just think it's the SAME argument as Matt uses to justify eating meat. (Which given his diabetes(!) is also actually extremely poor for his health actually!)

So what I'm saying is that Matt's argument for meat eating sucks balls in terms of logic. It's bullshit.

He should stick to defending atheism instead I think. That's his forte. And he's GOOD at that. He really is.

But anything else... not so much.

  • @TheSkunkCat

Now as for meat-eating specifically. You could probably make some pretty decent arguments for it. (Although if Matt has diabetes, he should actually NOT eat meat.) But in terms of protein it can be good for some people and you can make the case that if the animals are kept under humane conditions it's technically a form of biological symbiosis, in the sense that even if they are eaten, they are well treated (no predators to worry about either.) and their reproduction is assured.

  • @TheSkunkCat

It's just... Matt's argument... not so hot.

And me personally I think it'd be best to GROW meat anyway. We're close to that technology. We can just artificially grow cloned meat with minimal need for animal suffering. Which therefor would be ethical.

Vegetarianism is still a healthy lifestyle mind you. (especially for diabetics) but grown meat would not be unethical. Whilst animal meat... that DOES have ethics involved.

  • @TheSkunkCat

As for people who think Matt can do no wrong and is always 100% right.

Go gargle glass. Honestly. I can't fucking stand dittoheads with no thoughts of their own.

Matt, as I admitted is good at arguing atheism vs. theism. Great at it even. But if you think he's always right, then you might as well be a creationist for all I'm concerned. You just take your idea's from Matt because Matt said it. Whilst a creatard takes them from Hovind because they think gawd said it.

  • @richsuga I think it's somewhat cruel and mean for a supernatural being to manifest itself to one person or group and demand that all other people believe what the prophets/disciples said. Plus, choosing the least-equipped people to understand whether or not the event was true is even crueler. It requires you to make a special exception and doesn't provide sufficient justification.

  • @Ematched i was just discussing that yesterday. I think if a god loved us and was all powerful he'd show himself to each of us in a way each of us could understand clearly.

It seems arrogant when a christian would say to me that god has revealed himself to them but won't to me because its my own fault. Its odd.

  • @TheDharmawheel Yeah, it really undermines the notion that "God is just." In addition, "God" gave us these wonderful minds, but he requires us to stop using them when we catch a whiff of the truth of reality.

  • I love the opening song that guy wrote for the atheistexperience. its so.... accurate.

  • Beth looks like the Mona Lisa.

  • what is matt's position on marriage? did he say? i don't read much on him but i enjoy the youtube videos.

  • Fuck. Another awesome man already taken.

  • Eh..

  • My god, Beth looks like the Mona Lisa.

  • can any of the callers on this show speak god damn English yall

  • 26 people who have viewed this are mentally disabled.

  • Can somebody help me with this? It seems to be that the crux of the dispute (re: first caller's perspective) is that atheists maintain that, if a personal god were real, then god would not be justified in placing such a high premium on the need to approach him/her/it on the basis of faith. Am I on track with at least that much? And, if I am, on what basis does the atheist make this assertion? Please realize that I am not trying to hate. I am reconsidering atheism and am asking honestly. Thanx!

  • @richsuga Atheism is really skepticism about religion. A skeptic does not accept a claim unless he has sufficient evidence to support it. An atheist doesn't actually assert anything at all, but merely rejects a claim with no evidence. Skepticism should be the default position because if anything is real, there will be evidence. So they don't actually assert anything.

  • @KaHabbful Thanks. I will continue to ponder it. I'm very familiar with the line of reasoning you lay out there, having appealed to it numerous times when I called myself an atheist. Still though, I feel like it's too sweeping in its dismissal of all things not directly empirically demonstrable. Certainly even the atheists accept many propositions as veracious in the "properly basic" (philosophical) sense. Gotta chew on this one some more! :) Cheers!

  • thats john james on the phone from big brother uk

  • how can you look at the trees IN the sky and think there's no god? XD

  • @blueeyeddevil002 she said "how can you look at the trees n' the sky.." n' meaning and. the trees AND the sky.

  • @OpenMindGoodHerb420 I know, but it sounded similar so it made me laugh :D

  • You can make calls from Australia? :DDDDDDDD

We don't sound like that though. :/

  • Hahaha I remember the call with Eve. :P

  • @ MATT - Your a Intellectual thunder storm ........ I admire your ( seeking ) for the truth - & I wish people of the world had half the open mind you have ! the world be a much better place . Thank you for what you do . - Jason

  • The bible is MAN made stories from savage times ...... & its incredible how athiest know the bible better than Christians

  • WOW ...... It's amazing how ignorant christians are ! and all Religions for that matter ! In my logical researched opinion if ( anything ) GOD is a alien from a advanced civilization - but jesus is just the latest of a long line of the same story predating him by thousands of years ! eg. horus & about 40 others .... people kill me. Religion is horse hockey

  • how old is beth?

  • @klickkzam yes. a few years younger dear I say...but good luck to em!

  • @supermaroilogan what an odd comment. You can't see the callers, and yes there are plenty of all people among all races with deep and high voices.

  • Lol hey i encourage everyone too watch the Atheist exp. if this dont wake you up then. you might as well be a zombie like your god lol. I Slay Zombies on Black Ops :D

  • sad to find out that "if you dont believe in god then you believe in nuthin" call was a fake by matts wife. i enjoyed that clip.

  • "im just prone to fucking right over people... like she doesnt know that heh" ... GIGGITY

  • The galaxy in the beginning is Andromeda I think... I feel like such a nerd.

  • More tripe and garbage from the racist experience...Sorry, atheist experience. Still no black people on the show? Oh what a surprise.

  • @supermaroilogan "racist experience"

    seriously? No...you can't be serious.

  • @supermaroilogan there are a scarce amount of african american atheists, leaving aside the ones that don't have the courage to go on the show

  • @rockbandmaniac2 ----- That's because their not as intelligent and more prone to superstitions thats steeped in their culture.

  • @supermaroilogan You're either a race oriented troll (by looking at a couple of your comments on other vids) or you're just a stupid, ignorant, unproductive human being.

  • @Mrcrustypubes By your logic, we shouldn't eat plants either because all they want to do is exist, even though they don't think the way we do.

  • Every call to this show is likely to be a prank call

  • Beth is fine but we need more Keryn Glasser ! ! !

  • It's interesting how you cut off real Christians "who are educated enough to be dangerous" just shows how little minded you are...

  • @Bulkhan uhh did you miss the entire rant after he said that? in which he said that he used to do the exact same thing.. he can cut people off cause he already knows its bullshit.. although the rest of the show was boring so ill give you that

  • @snoweyeball

You're free to believe in that....

  • beth is hot!

  • 22 christians watched this

  • Congratulations! At what wedding chapel with the wedding take place? hehehehe

but seriously, best wishes to you both.

  • Hank Hill?

  • congratulations on your union guys, wonderful ceremony

  • Creationists think that Humans have birthrights above everything else on the planet, therefore they treat everything else like it is below them. ( That's why hunting is a big thing for them ). I find it funny, watching Christian videos asking atheists that if God doesn't exist, then we should have the answer as to how the universe came into existence and why. They don't get what an atheist is. And sadly, they actually pay less attention to their own religion than atheism. Amusing.

  • 13:57 beth had an orgasm

  • i am an atheist and vegan. i think that animals are too conscious to be grown just to eat them, and respect them. so i don't. i would eat meat if we killed animals from the wild, tho, because we wouldnt be growing them just to kill and eat them

  • @KaHabbful we should just eat the vegans instead probably healthier and we can get them wild

  • @KaHabbful I'm not a vegan/vegetarian but I agree. Raising thousands of animals just to eat them is very cruel. How would a human like to be born, kept in captivity, raised only to get eaten when it gets mature enough?

  • @KaHabbful It's not ok to kill another animal. They want to survive just as much as we do, and we can understand this and have a responsibility to not eat them just because they cant think like we can.

  • @Mrcrustypubes r u pro choice?

  • @me25422 if the baby's going to kill you if you don't get an abortion, then yes. If you didn't want to have a kid you should've tried sodomy.

  • @me25422 Also the cows we're killing for food don't hurt anyone, but an abortion can. So that's a bad analogy.

  • Matt shoulddn't have cutt off the first caller. Sure. he wasn't getting anywhere, but at least he should've let him finish.

  • Congrats on the engagement.

  • Very cute couple. :) And I agree, she looks like the lady in the La Gioconda painting (guys, don't fight over semantics!).

  • Beth's pretty! Matt's a lucky man. Good luck to you both!

FUN FACT: The real name of the Mona Lisa painting is "La Gioconda".

  • Matt congratulations on your future wedding with Beth. You guys make a great couple!! :)

  • Y'all are just way too obsessed with me looking like a painting.

  • I think I've seen too many of these. I remember that call. The Eve Prank call.

  • Matt is getting married! Good on ya, mate. Keep you fire going, though! :)

  • animals eat each other... we are apex predators... there's nothing wrong with us eating other animals.

  • lol... i live 20 min away from kenny...

  • You people disliking Matt's attitude. Please remember that this show has transcended it's initial remit on the back of the entertainment value of Matt's rants and his reactions. Do not blame him for enjoying his ability as a showman.

Listening to theists hang themselves is the job of the co-host in the chemistry, and they do it well. If both hosts are similar, then you lose the chalk and cheese chemistry of a successful hosting team.

P.S. Beth looks shit scared :-)

  • 42:57 Beth regretting engaging Matt

  • yea she looks like leonardo da vinci

  • It is disappointing when Matt disrespectfully cuts someone off in the middle of their presentation of their argument, hangs up on them, and then gives his "closing argument" with the person no longer there to defend himself. This is not a promotion of rational debate. Sorry.

  • @richsuga Sorry, but the only time he does that is when the person isn't making a logical or rational argument, or they continue to talk over him.

  • @richsuga Interesting point there you make, I'v noticed over the years that Matt seems to be getting more short tempered and pissed off than he used to be which isn't always helpful.

  • @richsuga that's because matt was raised in an intolerant christian environment and still has problems shaking that attitude. i personally prefer tracie. she busts their balls, and does it with a smile on her face, usually letting the other person talk most of the time and just punching holes in their argumentation until they themselves have to give up the argument or decide they've had enough.

  • lets look at that again. no lets not!

  • @lightandbeautiful a social agenda??? getting married is a social agenda???????????

  • Doing good for good's sake (not to be confused with doing good for god's sake!).

  • There are no contemporaneus docs of the alleged resurrection. All NT docs were of at least 65-95 years later.

  • Anyone wanna place a wager on whether matt waited until marriage to have sex? lol

  • Intelligence raises us above other animals. Life competes with itself continually naturally. All life seeks to hold it's form and destroys other life to do so, to continue it's specific branch of evolution.

  • What channel is your show on? I can't find a showing.

  • Matt your the best! If I was Alexander the Great, I would make you be my personal teacher! :-)

  • Beth should talk more

  • HAHAHA I knew that "Eve" phone call was a prank!!!

  • what´s that girl doing there anyway...

  • Matt was completely within reason to hang up on Kenny. I don't see why he should have to apologise.

  • Beth's posture just kills me though.... Please sit up and straighten your spine and shoulders.

    I love the show btw!

  • @33 ur words, living on youtube, helped me open my eyes about how i viewed reality, gave me the tools 2 think 4 myself and come to my own conclusions instead of trusting someone's elses view, substituting my values 4 those of revelation, instead of based on fact, cause and effect, and good reasons based on observable consequences

  • whats the name of the opening song?

  • @TheGeneralBurn Listen to Reason," written and performed by Bryan Steeksma

  • Matt, I love your show, but you got a little too upset with Kenny. It make you come off looking like the bad guy. Let him talk. The more guys like Kenny talk the dumber they sound. Give them enough rope and they'll hang themselves.

  • @MrWagman11 [Give them enough rope and they'll hang themselves.]

Matt is afraid of letting theists make their whole arguments consistent. If he don't let them, he can go off on a tangent how inconsistent they were and forget that it's his own fault because he blocked them.

  • Holy Crap I remember that call. I totally thought that was legit!

  • Beth needs to make eye contact with the camera.

  • Beth is Eve?

    LOL, Mind blown...

  • I am sorry maybe you will jump on me and curse at me but I can't live my live without the belief in a God. Thanks

  • @MegaNefesh Then, with no condescension whatsoever, I truly feel for you.

I don't think you deserve to be cursed at and dehumanized just because you believe in God, but when you make a comment like that, you can at least give your reasons why. Otherwise, why else would you comment?

  • @MegaNefesh you will be amazed to see that no one will jump or curse you, you are stronget then you think you dont need your god.

  • Punching above your weight a bit there Matt! Good man!

  • I like the show, but Matt Dilahunty is really taking it down. He seems to have to disagree with every point of every person all of the time and when he does agree with someone he becomes extremely cold shouldered and says "Sure, ok" as if its not worth his time. Seriously, if someone is trying to agree with you just show some camaraderie!

  • @dj69918 if you see more of his videos you'll see that Matt does agree with Theist callers at some points and even the ones that he disagrees he tries to find a common ground to try to find a consensus between both sides.. the problem is that most theist avoid that and merely dodge Matt's questions and start to preach and Matt has no tolerance to that.

Matt and Jeff the best hosts this program has.

  • @ZZzzzzzWhat I have watched dozens of hours of show footage, i know it. I am commenting on Matt's extremism within disagreements. If someone came on and said everything he agrees with he'd say, "Ok great, thanks for calling." Making a small attempt to support the other person's perspective, but once he finds a very minute point of disagreement he attacks. I think if someone is attempting to agree with him, he should attempt to make that connection instead of pointing out the differences.

  • @ZZzzzzzWhat i agree. if beth spoke more i'd b able 2 hav an opinion about her. jen is an excellant host, i think better then the dark brunette lady

  • @cruelbusiness1984 Beth seems to have a good sense on humor but she doesn't speak most of the time.

  • @dj69918 Well, I think he's right to disagree with people if he believes they're wrong. Listening to his responses to people is one of the main reasons I watch these videos. And it can be risky to be seen to agree with people you are arguing with as there is a possibility of the agreement being quoted out of context. I hope that adresses what you meant.

  • @dj69918 Hmm, actually he does seem a bit overaggressive. It would probably be more useful for him to be more understanding of people. Although I'm sure he get's pissed off hearing the same things over and over…

  • she looks wiered like shes gouging out or something

  • the dumbest callers ever?

  • whaaat the fuuuuck

  • His future/current wife looks like a "Mona Lisa", or someone taken out of a European history! Where is she from!? She looks like an English royalty. It´s not meant to be understood as a winning breath. . .

  • I don't believe that most of ethical vegans, if any, think that animals are equal to humans in every way, for example that they have a right to vote or learn to read, but because they have consciousness and ability to feel pain, they should have a life free of intentional and avoidable pain that is inflicted on them out of human habits and comfort.

  • Good to see the one true Spagetti god has an appearance in your show.

    Ramen.

(p.s. all non believers of the flying spaghetti monster will spend eternity boiling in meat sauce after they die... )

    R'amen! Blessed is the Sauce.

  • Has the owner of this channel died? If someone knows where he/she lives, please call on them to check.

  • @000phill000

The videos are available on their website. If you google "Atheist Experience Show Archive" it will pop up. It's free, you don't have to sign up or anything, too. :)

  • @N0tsaved Thanks for the heads up, I did already know and have been watching the shows there, I was genuinely concerned for the channel owner. There must be a reason why he's not updated for a month now.

  • @000phill000

    Okay, my bad :P

Yeah, I'm not sure either, I hope everything's all right. :S

  • I think if I keep watching this show I'm going to turn gay because of Matt. He is, despite what he may believe himself, a God.

  • To Matt I just wanted to say to you your crew and your listeners that I am sorry that you just can't grasp that God is real. I don't have the time or ability to prove he exists but he is as real as you and I and everyone else. I am sad that you choose to say in darkness and that you walked away from God and choose to not believe. You will never get an answer that satisfies you about God because you choose to ignore God and truth. I pray you find God again some day before you die.

  • @arecuk1 Cont to Matt. I had to add that I wont waste my time debating you because it is like walking in a circle you never get any where. I know you think we Christians are crazy or stupid etc but you can't wish God away and I pray you don't end up in hell. Yes that sounds like I am being mean. But truth is truth. You can either spend the rest of your life going in circles or you can sincerely search for and find God. I can't make it any clearer than that.

  • @arecuk1

You speak of truth in the existence of God so certainly, so much so that you are willing to write a comment that pities him for looking for a rational, evidence-based reason to believe in any particular God's existence. You seem so certain in yourself, despite your admitting that you "don't have the time or ability to prove he exists."

But if your most foundational reason for believing in God's existence was shown to be found in fallacy/error, would you still believe it?

  • @N0tsaved You can disagree with me as most atheists do, but if I am right a lot of unfortunate souls well end up in hell, no pun intended with the reference to souls. If there is no God then it was my time to waste. I know in my heart that we do have souls and that there is a God and I do believe that Jesus is the son of God. If there is no God then I can't say our lives really matter other than that I would rather be alive than dead. If he exists then I have eternity to spend with him.

  • @arecuk1

I'm not mocking you if you feel that is the case; simply disagreeing does not entail that (at least for me).

I want to know right now though if this is your most foundational reason for believing in the Christian doctrine. If it is, then what you are making your most basic belief based upon is an argument known as Pascal's Wager.

But there are fallacies with this belief: it assumes only one possible God and denies all others on an arbitrary basis. Also it assumes God judges by belief.

  • @arecuk1

What's wrong with this view is that the God you speak of is not the only possible one; there are several interpretations of the Christian God alone, some of which may not include direct belief in that version of God to go to Heaven; one must have to live a morally good and just life or something else. Then there are all the other Gods of every other religion and all their different interpretations as well.

Some of those gods also judge by belief in them, how do you decide which one?

  • 3 Weeks without a new episode...? does anyone know whats going on?

    Ciao B

  • @BarrettBowley

The new shows are available on their site, google "atheist experience show archive." :)

  • I don't believe in God or any other form of supernatural being and so on... But when I die and it turns out that God, Heaven and Hell does exist and I go to Hell, I'm going to help Lucifer take over the Earth and help torture and stuff, because the world is a horrible place with Humans on it...

  • How come the new episodes are not getting uploaded?

  • I am an atheist . however, if you have open phone lines you have to let people talk although it might not sound interesting to you Matt. Being rude to callers and not given time to talk is wrong .. if you want to hear yourself talk .. then dont open the phone lines and just talk ...

  • @TheBinary123 The problem with that is people call and preach their beliefs opposed to participating in a proper debate. Also, the show isn't "4 hrs long" as Matt said - meaning that, in fairness to the viewers and other callers, people who waste time should be hung up on. Lastly, is not TAE's job to provide an outlet for religious rants. It is an atheist show - those who want to preach can call up a plethora of religious programs instead.

  • Why do people call up this show to ask questions, then when they get on they fuck around for like 5 mins trying to hear them, if you've gotten through just ask your question or fuck off.

  • WOW! Youtube unsubscribed me from you guys! They unsubbed me from TheAmazingAtheist a few months ago too. WHAT THE HELL??!?!!!?!!????
