One of the best videos on youtube. Nostalgia abounds and dreams are rebirthed amid joy and tears for childhood memories and yearning for the simpler times of life when youth clung to the power of imagination. I am undone.
Two of my favorite instrumental songs put to my favorite childhood movie... this my fellow youtubers is the stuff dreams are made of. BTW I love how you opened and closed the video! WELL DONE!
This music really reminds me of Hans Zimmer's work in Gladiator. Check out the song Now We Are Free. EXCELLENT song, reminds me of this one a lot. That's probably why I'm so drawn to this video! Well that, and like I said in my previous post, the montage was so well edited.
AboveSkyWater, I'm curious to know if you found any other books that rival NeverEnding Story. I've since read Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. Check it out if you haven't. It shares the same Urban Fantasy type theme as NeS.
Very interesting remix and montage! I absolutely love well-made edits like this, especially when they involve one of my favorite films of all time! Kudos to you for making this. The song was beautiful and your synchronization was spot on.
I'm not sure how well my montage compares, but feel free to check it out. look it up on youtube. It's entitled "NeverEnding Story Tribute with Chapterhouse - Love Forever (Ulrich Schnauss Remix [Instrumental]) HD" A mouthful, I know!
Who ever put this together; it is wonderful. Inama Shurif, My Name is Lincoln and Neverending Story...three excellent selections. But what is great is the way it is put together; the intensity that is felt when everything is about to collapse and the Childlike Empress is looking right at us (at Bastian) and Bastian is looking right at us (at the Childlike Empress)...that moment of intensity is just amazing.
@TheRealityJunkie it is, but they missed another one, when atreyou stares at bastian in the mirror and bastian looks back, the director could have made it so after that atreyu looks at us and then bastian looks at us. that would have been great.
IMO the two Scifi channel miniseries did way better than the movies. Sure the decor, the costumes and the FX were sub-par, but the acting was nice and the story was made better justice than any of the movies.
Otherwise I agree, the books have never quite been made justice other than in their native format. Generally I love the movie medium more than books, so I'm still waiting for a visionary director to take on the Dune franchise. Doesn't look very hoperful though...
Wow, the two music themes give me goosebumps every time I listen to them. Combines with the touching movie themes, it's even greater... thank you! I love Michael Ende's books, all of them, yet I also like the Neverending Story movie. I don't compare, I see them as one great fantasy book and one great fantasy movie!
A truly wonderful and majestic fan video, which will for evermore stand the test of time, for anyone who may chance a flight of fantasy into a Neverending Story.
love it, totally love it... awesome editing, and the video is pretty much a circle, you start in the darkness, the emptyness, and at the end, you end it with the first wish... the desire that emerges from lackness... we will continue wondering if the Ivory Tower is still standing for us... the humanity...
It's perfect. The best Never Ending Story clip I have seen on here - and I've been up for hours lookng through them all. The music is fantastic. Thank you.
I must confess that I never readed the book, or watched the movie... So i can't say anything about that, but this compilation you did... ouh... breathtaking is not a good enough word! :)
An awesome video. Great use of Inama Nusif and Lincoln. I applaud you. Check out my vid sometime. Just search my name. Let me know what you think. MAY GOD BLESS YOU! And if you're in the states sometime we'll lunch. Well done!!! And the sequels did stink. Thanks for not using them.
I am impressed with the book, I saw this movie in VHS when I was a child, but never had the chance to read the book, not until two days ago! I mean, I can't believe I spent nearly 15 years of my life deprived from this masterpiece of literature!! I love the movie and this video is awesome!! Congratulations
I was reading the book as kid and suddenly something just snapped in my head. I didn't want Fantásia to disappear, so I made it a personal goal to invent and make up new lands, races, and creatures every day.
It lasted for about a good year, and I was damn proud of myself!
Now, I have forgotten so many of the creatures and lands, but a very few still pops up in my mind every now and then.
Fantasy and imagination are treasures to share and love.
The 1984 version of The Neverending Story has admittedly dated, but the heart and soul shall always remain an ever lasting vision of childish innocence and fantasy.
Sphinxes. In the story they're the first gate (of two in the movie and of three in the book) you have to pass through to get to the oracle. For some reason they used the same figures (but blue) as the oracle while in the book the oracle is a voice that speaks in rhymes and only hears you when you speak in rhymes.
wow..it's been killing me for a few days..if someone can email me, or send me a message- what's the lil girl's name that Bastian gives her? When she's all teary eyed and yelling at him...lol thanks in advance!

Hi there ! I'm 28, almost 29, and I've always loved this film. Not only the music, but also the mean plot and the characters.

Great tribute to this movie ! Congratulations ! I was a tiny little child the first time I saw it. So a lot of great remindings make me enjoy your video.
You wrote : " the movie will pale in comparison... " of the book ; Well... I must belive you ! I'm still looking for it ( in Spanish, or French. I don't understand German ). May one day i'll find it... Just experience make me think you're right.
I saw the movie which inspired me to find the book. I'm a bookworm, too, and the notion of hidden worlds coming alive in books was absolutely wondrous. The idea that one of the characters spends most of the movie shut up without physically going anywhere was appealing, too. (Don't all bookworms feel the same way?) The visual embodiment of many of the book's elements was in no way a disappointment.
I've not seen the film yet - -i have it on dvd and will watch it soon but this video is excellent. I didn't want to spoil the film though so i couldn't watch to the end!
The Neverending story movie must have been THE best fantasy movie of my childhood. Great work on the scene selection and placement. Even with just images, you portrayed perfectly the ambiance of the movie from my memories...
I struggled quite a bit before daring to write a comment because I adore the book so much - and just don't love the movie. There are just a number of things that really annoyed me in the adaption but as you didn't focus on any of them it made me forget about all that while watching. The timing is awesome, the choice of scenes really nice and the music is very touching. 5/5 and a favorite (and I don't fav everything I like).
You did great squeezing the movie into one video, once again. I am impressed. I love this, just like I love all of your work. You're the first vidder in a long while who makes the videos for the right reasons, you inspire me to keep making videos myself. I will try to make more movie videos. Fantastic job! 5 stars and favourited!
You're right, the second song isn't taken from the Dune soundtrack. It's a part of the "My name is Lincoln" piece by Steve Jablonsky which can be found on the soundtrack to "Island" - crappy movie in my opinion, but that song made up for it I guess. ;o)
I believe this video now deserves a HD update, so viewers can watch how wonderful the editing skills are for this timeless fantasy flick.

The Neverending story movie must have been THE best fantasy movie of my childhood. Great work on the scene selection and placement. Even with just images, you portrayed perfectly the ambiance of the movie from my memories...
Thanks so much.....

this movie came out, when i was a small kid -- so i saw the movie, before being able to read the book.
i was blown away, i remember. it was so strong, so sweet, so full of love and truth.
defenitely one of the most heartfull and creative movies ever..

I loved this. I can tell how much you were inspired by this story. Great music choices, too.

Hi JCub - thank you so much for commenting!
I guess I'll take the fact that the video managed to make you teary-eyed as a compliment.
Glad you enjoyed it. :o)

I was wondering what the second part of the music is, as that's not part of the Dune music as far as I know.
hotepshakkara 4 years ago
You're right, the second song isn't taken from the Dune soundtrack. It's a part of the "My name is Lincoln" piece by Steve Jablonsky which can be found on the soundtrack to "Island" - crappy movie in my opinion, but that song made up for it I guess. ;o)

Great and beautiful vid. I like how you use two songs for this vid. The second song sounds very beautiful on 3:51-6:19. Nice job.
