Well, I apologize for my comment and typecasting Western men and their Thai wives. My sister married an American and I am happy for both of them. But some Western men just can't help getting a kick of insulting Thai men as a whole. Kinda make you feel Godlike, doesn't it?

Godlike? I am in my 60's so I leave the godlike feelings to the younger lads. I am not so stupid as to think beautiful young Thai women go to bed with me only because of my looks or bedroom technique but every woman seeks financial security so that is OK with me. In personal ads in the West, women specify "financially stable". Alas, it's all about money. My point is if guys do their homework they have a good chance of meeting a lovely Thai woman for a wife. I have nothing against Thai men.

My neighbor is a very abusive western man who keep yelling at his Thai wife and bitch about how much he hates Thailand, I lived in the US for 10 years and heard less profanity than from that guy. Truth: Many Thai men are good, hard-working, family man and some foreign men are as abusive, if not more, to Thai women than Thai men.

Myth: Thai women are honest and loving, and will treat foreign men with love.

Truth: Some Thai women never left their Thai husband. They marry foreign men for money. Many instances these Thai women get money from their foreign husband and give to their ex.

You sound like someone who got burned. The men who get burned are those who do not take the time to learn Thai culture or any of the language. If you get the right Thai woman you are set for a wonderful life.  If you marry the first bargirl who comes over to you with a big smile and you know nothing about Thai customs and culture you may or may not have met a wonderful life companion. Or she might have a Thai boyfriend. Opportunity but danger also. Do your homework and you will be fine.

First of all. I am Thai. And I am sick and tired of foreign men coming here pretending to know everything about Thailand and dumping on Thai men just because their Thai 'plaything' tell them their 'bad experience' about their ex. Just because you are married a Thai woman or have a Thai girlfriend doesn't make you expert in Thai culture.

In the West if a man deserts his wife and children the police go after him for alimony and support. Not in Thailand. Thailand is full of single mothers abandoned by Thai husbands. Actually it is not true that Thai bargirls are all impoverished and so they go for Western men. Many Thai women prefer Western men and older more stable. They get tired of Thai boyfriend taking their earnings for buying Mehkong and gambling it away and sometimes hitting them as well. Thousands of Thai women live in Thailand and abroad with Western men.  I have been to Thailand too. Don't spout such feminist garbage.

I've been to Thailand a few times and love the country very much. It took me a while and many discussions with these young ladies to understand what he says here is true in many ways. His books are awesome I personally liked Kingdom of Make Believe. Check them out. Yes and don't judge until you go there yourself and see these girls are great providers for thier familys if they can stay out of the drug scene. OH!! To love Thailand and live so far away.
