RIP Dennis Taylor.56 suffered a heart attack and we lost one of the great sax players. He passed away yesterday on tour with Delbert McClinton in Texas. This is 12 yrs ago, when he played with Duke Robillard.
I like BILL JENNINGS a lot. It is a shame he is quite unknown. I read he was heavyly influenced by Django Rheinhardt though I cannot hear it in his playing I have to admid. But on the other hand BB King was influenced by Django, too and I canot hear it either though I once heard him play in Django's style in a clip from the late 80's.
I like that clip,too.
BTW I like to invite you to my BLUESCARTOONS (1-minute tributes to HOOKER, REED, SONNY BOY II)
John Packer was a accomplished guitar player as well!
I had the pleasure of being taught a few guitar lessons by John while he was living in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
At the time he was playing with harmonica player, singer Keith Dunn in the Dunn-Packer Band.
They released one album together: Love Against the Wall (Tramp, 1990) with help from the T-Birds rhythm section on a couple o' songs.
I didn't know he could play the upright Bass so well!
R.I.P. John Packer.
