the best way to put it is candlepin bowling is well..a pain in the arse! the shots are harder(yet easier with deadwood)(yet harder with deadwood) the scores are lower u can bury the 1-2/1-3 pocket and leave a split...u sometimes need to have thick skin to be a true candlepin bowler..the fn games justa pain in the arse and yet i still bowl twice a week in leagues! gotta love to hate the game!!!

@cactus200 This game requires MUCH more accuracy than tenpin.......in tenpin, if you don't get a strike, you basically have failed. In this game, you actually have to shoot spares (single pins, cut shots, harder to shoot a 5-7 in candlepin than it is in tenpin!.............Any idiot can hit 200 in tenpin, meanwhile the World record in Candlepin is 245........which one is a game for pussies???????????????????????
Nope! This is candlepin bowling, popular in most of New England & the Canadian Maritimes. I love this bowling, unfortunately for me I live in Florida.....(at least bowling-wise)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
where is the new england? i know where the old one is. never seen this before, the small balls and sticks? looks kinda gay, makes the game more difficult
New England is the Boston area & sorrounding states. I call candlepin "bowling with brains"---it takes a lotta strategy (especially where the ball needs to hit the dead pins).
this is called candle pin bowling. this form of bowling came before the pins we all know and love and the huge freakin balls. candle pin is very popular in the new england states like MA, CT, VT ,NH, RI. ME
Where can i candle pin bowl in the states? i live in tennessee and have been all over the country to bowl. but have never got the chance to candle pin bowl sadly. where might i be able to?
baseball is the bomb football is just a bunch of idiots trying to beat each others brains out plus i live in tennessee so cant come kick your ass any time soon
It's seriously pathetic how much they soup up the lanes on TV. Exactly why I stopped watching and why it's not a loss that I don't get the show anymore.
You want phony ass bowling? lanes, balls, pins, lane conditions then look no further than Tenpin bowling where we have created 220 avg. bowlers out of 160 avg. bowlers. As a former PBA regional champ and Tenpin proprietor it made me so sick that I'm selling my last tenpin center to return to Massachusetts to be a Candlepin proprietor, a game that has not nearly been tarnished as much as Tenpin because in Candlepin the tricks are just not there to increase avgs. by 80 pins a game, maybe 10 pins.
candlepin bowling sucks there is no excitement at all bowl me in both and i bet i mop the fgloor with you in both games big time ive never even candle pin bowled but i bet my baseball ability could get me through
Say where and when as I was also a world Candlepin and MBA Candlepin champion including 17 other titles as well, so before the nobody that you are shoots your mouth off I'll be in Massachusetts next week and at Colonial Lanes in Worcester on the 28th if you have the money it's 1000 a string and $3500 for series or go away nobody and shoot your mouth to someone you might intimidate cause you just got called out and punked off in front of the whole world plus baseball is for fags try football.
Are you fucking shitting me collin? HAHAHAHA...honestly, you wouldn't last a day playing Candlepin. It ain't as easy as you think and it IS exciting because it gives you other options when playing spares and such.
@collin2510 Anytime big shot, and before you reply check out my channel and stats before you even make a bigger ass of you self than you already have. I love mopping up the floor as you say with idiots like you and making their pockets all the more lighter. Speaking of boring and no action baseball is it, the longest dumbest most boring game of all at least watching a football game you have a chance of seeing someone or something seriously happen on every play....
lol.... BIGGREENLEAF1 ....... candlepin is throw it hard and somewhat accurate, and hope for some luck.... ten pin takes finess and skill, other than accuracy.... I agree with collin... other than all the cursing rage immature arguing. but ten pin is the harder to score in, even with these easy lanes and balls.
Sorry to dis agree with you but Tenpin is by far easier to score in, the highest game ever in Candlepin is 245 compared to the scores of 300 games shot daily now compared to 25 years ago. What makes Candlepin so difficult is the countless varity of different shots that you can have with the dead wood still in play. Collin lives in a no Candlepin state and has never played the game while I have several Cpin titles and one PBA title, so I think I'd know a little more than Collin, but opinions vary
From watching these candlepin videos, I can tell they just chuck the ball down there. A lot of the time, these "pros" don't even hit the same pin twice on their first shots. You call that skill? I have not played the sport before, and don't intend to for said reason.
And if you were a proprietor, you would know that the real talent in tenpin would be on a sport shot, the lane conditions that separate the fakes from the real thing. Not on cupcake shots where even I can post a 700 series...
I was a proprietor as my final centers video is on here. Also before you shoot your mouth off and continue to make a fool of yourself, Candlepin is a much harder skill wise game even todays sport shot is just a variant of a 10 to 10 block and they even draw a graph so you can see the lane condition, can it be any easier? The reason they don't hit the pocket everytime with such a small ball would be the equivilent of placing a quarter on the pindeck and hitting it everytime with a tenpin ball.
I see where you're coming from. But how many bowlers do you see on the PBA that dont deserve to be in that position? I can only name a few. You need immense skill to make it big in any sport, but the skills required in candlepin and tenpin appear to be the same. Accuracy, consistency, and good form. The technology in tenpin just happens to be raising the scores. It's not like it's easier to become a pro because everyone else is posting these big scores. The better bowler will win eventually.
True but here are the differences in being a PBA member today vs when I first got my card in 1984. Today you only need to avg. 200 for 33 games in one league season even on a 10 to 10 shot or cash as a non member in a regional event . Back then it was a 190 Ave for 66 games in two consecutive seasons or two regional cashes in a year plus attend the PBA members school within a year which would come a little later on. If you went to some Regionals you'd see a lot more guys not deserving a PBA card
I guess you could say that if you completely took out the scoring part of both games, then they would both be considered equally difficult. I say Candlepin is harder mostly because of the score range compared to ten pin. But without scoring, they're both equally hard, for the most part. Ten pin you have to make constant adjustments to strike and also make spares/splits, while candlepin is more about making spares and getting lucky. People say Candlepin sucks but they've never played it.
if that had went over thne line it would of ben a foul, and his high 5 is only 515!!! my high five is a 598! i kicked his ass! and im onl 24 and know lots of pros!
638 is my high five. I also know lots of pros. Mark, and many others, including the host of this show, Dan Murphy. I'll be trying out for that kids segment this Sunday, it pisses me off, because 2 yrs. ago, 545 didn't make it, yet he probaly qualified w/ a 490 or something!
That was a hell of a feat! I had to watch it a few times. What I love is that the dork had his name right up there so we all know who he is...hehe Just kidding Travis...If you didn't tell me, I would not have known this video existed. He did a good job playing it cool. I would have been an idiot and my village would have taken me away.
I start off my approach with my arm down at a 5'o clock angle. Sometimes since I put pressure on my fingers they slip when I get into my takeaway. I then stop and regroup. If I don't, then the same could happen as it did for Travis. it's hard to stop in the middle of your approach.
Sadly that happened to me last Wednesday. Worst part was the ball decided to continue moving forward onto the top of my head. Gave my teammates and the other big wigs(the ones that are usually on TV, Zappi, Holbrook, Pastori, a good laugh).
Haha... Gotta love that shizz... wondering if the "extra" stuff in his approach contri'd though? I loved candlepin - everyone has there own style. Rock on.
that has happened to me before but only in practices. And this is not the only thing that happened in the show, when he needed a mark to possibly force the other kid to mark, this kid threw a gutterball on his first shot.

Rock on.

LOL that was funny as hell!!!! Has that ever happened to you Wolf? hehehe

that has happened to me before but only in practices. And this is not the only thing that happened in the show, when he needed a mark to possibly force the other kid to mark, this kid threw a gutterball on his first shot.

That kinda happened to me when I went kingpin bowling with Kim. It was 2 years or last year I think.
