  • Absolutely beautiful. They certainly could write, and perform, superb music during the 17th and 18th centuries. Purcell died quite young, too. I wonder what else he would have written had he lived longer.

  • beautiful both versions are

  • i always liked the sound of a funeral drum

  • Just imagine A Clockwork Orange remaster. With this in place of the synths. Even better, /with/ the synths!

  • @inhumanundead since CO, the piece has never sounded the same. chilling

  • I can hear Alex's voice in my head.

  • I wish they played this when I die.

  • Cygnus X did it better lol

  • AND WHAT'S SO STINKY ABOUT IT?

  • awww hell here come the free masons XD

  • Beautiful song!

  • You know you're a nerd when you watch this video and go, "Holy ****, sackbuts!"

  • @slashatriusful Make a black metal version of this masterpiece is a sacrilege

  • @Coker17 Devalue the Black Metal without knowing is a much bigger. I listened to Bach before my one year, and I can assure you that Black Metal is the only kind now able to compete with the classic, just find the right band.

  • @Coker17 I like black metal, but classical pieces borrowed for the likes of it can often be a disappoinment. I prefer the two as separate genres or with influence, not direct plagiarism or hybridization.

  • Dream scene

  • Link to download the song please

  • watch?v=T0LpiMGcFI0 <==== Black Metal Version.

  • This will be play at my cat Funeral today

  • A fine piece masterfully played,BRAVO!

  • There was me, that is Alex, and my three droogs, that is Pete, Georgie and Dim. and we sat in the Kororva milk bar trying to make up our resudox what to do with the evening. The Korova Milk bar sold milk plus, milk plus villicet, or synthemesc drencrumb, wich was what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultraviolence.

  • @0monolith have to be a dick, sorry. its vellocet and drenochrome, its writen on the wall behind them ffs!

  • @9Iamthewalrus i'll accept that, i was doing it by ear.

  • @0monolith Exactly, only more authentic and not performed on a Mellotron.

  • o my brothers!

  • That drop at 1:10 is filthy

  • HAUS OF GAGA

  • no picardy cadence?

  • Both Conker and Kubrick are great, but the music originates from the funeral of Queen Mary the Second of England, thus the name.

  • This was not from Conker or Clockwork Orange. It is a funeral march for a dead queen. Those modern day intellectual properties were not the reason for this brilliant song's composition. Now that that is out of the way, please enjoy Henry Purcell's 350+ year old masterpiece.

  • There was me Robert Howes, and my four droogs.... hahhahahha

  • I wonder if under his clothes are actually the costume of Clockwork Orange, just imagine that , just for fun!!!

  • Brings tears to my eyes . . . thanks for the wonderful music.

  • This was the music from Conker.

    Fuck Clockwork Orange.

  • There was me, that is Alex, and my three droogs...

  • hauntingly beautiful

  • Just enjoy of the music!!!!

For the who don't know what is "A Clockwork Orange"

It's a film of 1971 (A culture movie), and the movie is based in a book whit the same name of the year 1962,

    NOW ENJOY OF THE MUSIC!

Don't care if is the original version or the version for A Clockwork Orange, just enjoy, Welly - well?

  • Sounds better with the trills.

  • An amazingly wonderful performance!

  • The alto voice is having some intonation problems -_-

  • I will refrain from thinking of the Moloko Bar and glasses of milk...

  • Sackbuts are the definition of awesome.

  • wtf is a clockwork orange? oO

  • @jamestheepicfan111 Itz Derived From An Old English Expression "Queer As A Clockwork Orange", My Oppinion After Reading The Book And Seeing The Film Is It Is An Expression Of Robotosized Humanity!!

  • @DublinsOwn2k9 okay....

  • @jamestheepicfan111 What is a clockwork orange?☺Well, quite obviously it's an orange you can use as a clockwork. Personally for work I always wear an ordinary clockwork tomato, which I change for my nice little clockwork grapefruit in the weekends, I have it since childhood. Some of my more trendy friends though prefer a clockwork melon, and, you won't believe this, but I even know some guy who wants nothing else but his clockwork bananas. Ridiculous! Nobody wears those anymore!

  • @Oldfaithful61 ..........WHAT?!? the heck are you talking about? o.o

  • Lady Gaga Use This

  • @MultiYoXD

Stefani Germanotta knows music very well !

  • EVERYONE STOP BEING PRETENTIOUS ABOUT YOUR LIKE OR DISLIKE OF A CLOCKWORK ORANGE. WHETHER YOU LIKE THE MOVIE OR NOT IS UP TO YOU BUT DON'T BE AN ELITIST ABOUT IT PLEASE.

  • real horrorshow

  • I want to thank you again, "protestant7", for this excellent video. I have recommended it to others, particularly to people responding to "A Clockwork Orange" video. Keep up the good work.

  • Anyone knows where i can get the basstab for this?

  • The Baroque Brass of London do a magnificent job of presenting this superb work of Purcell. Fine video. This would be the best march for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth (although, love may she live!), since it is music fit for a queen. Sadly, it became his own funeral march the very same year at 35 years of age.

  • @FRAGIORGIO1 - - -I meant, long may she live!

  • All of you filmgoers think you're so clever; and yet not even half of you realize that this music existed long before Kubrick's mediocre movie.

  • @andrewMLhero my first introduction to this piece was scanning MID files looking for a good funeral dirge... came across this and LOVED it... saw A Clockwork Orange many years later. This is, IMHO one of the most beautiful and sad pieces ever created. I love it... and will probably have it used at my funeral... followed by Elton John - I'm Still Standing (yes, I am twisted that way) :D

  • conker's bad fur day opening!!!

  • Dislikers di 'sta minchia!

  • Comment removed

  • Heads or tails ,sire? Ah, Heads it is.

You sire, you may cock your pistol, prepare to fire.

  • some serious bass in that

  • Why does this version sound stately and sad, while the synth-Clockwork Orange version sounds scary and creepy?

  • That the death of a demon can sound so beautiful...

  • In loving memory of squidward

  • well time for a bit of the good old ultra-violence, right right???

  • I'm beginning my major in trumpet performance/music education next year at university.

I REALLY want to play this in a brass ensemble.

  • Marduk made an excellent version of this called Blackcrowned

  • Anyone else think the trumpeter with the sideburns is pretty fit?

  • Shut the fuck up you cunts and enjoy the music.

  • @fgsfds8 don't use language like that, children could be watching

  • Who is on drum?

  • Voilà qui donne envie d'assister à ses funérailles..... mais que sa Majesté prenne son temps, nous attendrons.

  • I wonder when people will finally realize that by the time some fact or meme becomes the highest rated comment, it's shit. That comment about "if you don't know of a Clockwork Orange you've been living under a rock" is a pretentious statement by some fuck who'd just discovered Stanley Kubrick a day before posting that comment.

  • @Tripo1iSamson felt the exact same thing when reading it.

  • @Tripo1iSamson When you use that argument you know they'll deny it anyway. Better to just keep out of the arguments, no?

  • @Tripo1iSamson Mmmmmmm! What would Bieber say ????

  • AAAAAAAAAAlllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeexxxxxxxxxxxxxxx!!!!

  • v-tec kicks in @ 1:10

  • I could listen to this until I had something of a pain in the gulliver

  • @christschinwon dooby doo. bedways is rightways now.. what say we go homeways and get a bit of spatchka?

  • There was me, that is Alex, and my three droogs, that is Pete, Georgie, and Dim, and we sat in the Korova Milkbar trying to make up our rassoodocks what to do with the evening. The Korova milkbar sold milk-plus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence.

  • Wendy carlos - a clockwork orange

    cygnus x - the orange theme &

rank 1 - opus 17, they are all based on this classical composition.

  • thanks for filming mainly the drum as we could better see scarcely played instrument walking in an obsucre alley. Great music, great instruments, total scenaristic and camera failure.

  • Magnificent!

  • Can anyone tell me what the location is where they're playing, please?

  • @N45HcH the only thing I can guess is, England (obviously) and by the looks of if it's a 16th century cloister so therefore an old monastery that has been turned into a house. As for where in England I don't have a clue. Somewhere nice by the looks of it and I would mind living there.

  • This musical procession follows me every morning whilst on my way to the breakfast hall.

  • Will be forever associated with A Clockwork Orange...

  • I find this rendition overly dramatic. And A Clockwork Orange overrated.

    /metahipster mode

No seriously, great piece of music but way too dramatic as performed in this video. Too much dynamics ruin the temperate atmosphere it's supposed to portray.

  • @llczk would you rather them have on red clown noses and multi colored ray-ban shades??

  • @matthewjamal I see you got the gist of my comment, but the message I was trying to convey kind of eluded you. Most likely it's a matter of taste, but this rendition comes across as too theatrical. I enjoy the piece a lot more when it's played with more austerity. Calm and balanced. Not all over the place.

  • @llczk really?? hmm, yea i was just joking with ya. you are right it is a matter of opinion. i however just took it as normal...i mean... it's just a couple guys walking with instruments...like they did a sacrificial ritual. lol but yea cheers to each his/her own...

  • @llczk i meant NOT like they did a sacrificial ritual.

  • love this song truly my favorite

  • It's Guy MaddIN, not Guy MaddEN.... I agree with Conservative though that most people go around quoting A Clockwork Orange thinking they all of a sudden like great cinema on the grounds of Kubrick's reputation when in fact all they see is the film's cult status and violence without a clue of what it's all about. Ask them to watch 2001 or Paths of Glory and you've lost them.

  • @borowczyk76 You seem to know a lot about others' tastes, don't you?

Perhaps you should concern yourself more with your own.

I so happen to think Barry Lyndon his best film, and magnificent cinematic achievement ; some people may think all his films are utter trash, but that is their concern, not mine.

  • @wonderfulwhippet123 I am plenty concerned already. I'm sorry if you felt targeted by my remark. I'm not trying to say everyone is like that. It's a just a personal observation from past conversations with folk about film (including some recent ones) a quick glance at the IMDB forum will also confirm this. You can now rest assured that you are not one of the lot. Hope you feel better now.

  • orange mécanique <3

  • amazing it's one squadron of musicants

  • @Justen1980

Dude, what the fuck does that mean? I like it.

  • Awesome fucking wells

  • There was me, that is Alex... and my three droogs...that is Pete, Georgie, and Dim. And we sat in the Korova Milkbar trying to make up our rassoodocks what to do with the evening. • @jerichotpkbandit

I smiled a malenky bit when I viddied that comment.

  • Thumbs up if 'The Orange Theme' by Cygnus X

or 'Clockwork' by Deadmau5 brought you here

  • I came here for Purcell as well... I'm really liking his instrumental stuff--not too crazy about his art songs. Does that make me strange?

I love this interpretation, the crescendo halfway through is so great! It really does a number conveying emotion. :P Also, the purple robes are killer. RIP Mary II, Regnant Queen.

  • kenny vs spenny

  • i came to this vid because Purcell, did not know that this march from Clockwerk was from Purcell.

  • Thumbs up if you traced Deadmau5' "Clockwork" back through Cygnus X "Orange Theme," back through Clockwork Orange, to here... and are not even ashamed one bit at crossing that many musical genres

  • Thumbs up if you traced Deadmau5' "Clockwork" back through Cygnus X "Orange Theme," back through Clockwork Orange, to here

  • Thumbs up if you're here because of the ending of the song "Heroin or Suicide" by Leftover Crack!...anyone?

  • Anybody remember this tune from the end of Conker's Bad Fur Day?

That was always such a sad ending.

  • I love the medieval trombone.

  • @screwyou

    It's called sackbut.

  • @TromboneMachine Ha ha so it is, awesome! thx

  • Heard this on Dan Snow's "Hadrian". Brilliant.

  • Viddy Well little brothers viddy well

  • Superb!!!!!!!

  • astonishing

  • @rbmaserang Bingo, it is a movie and its a movie that everyone lieks!

  • @rbmaserang Considered one of the greatest films of all time it is also one of the most controversial movies of all time.

  • @rbmaserang Clearly you don't know anything about good cinema.

A Clockwork Orange is considered by many people to be one of the greatest films ever created, and it's written after one of the greatest books ever written. It's soundtrack is praised. It was directed by Stanley Kubrick, who directed 2001: A Space Odyssey, Dr. Strangelove, and many other films considered to be the best.

You must have been living under a rock for the last half century to not know what A Clockwork Orange is.

  • @supabeast23 Or maybe he has better things to do than to watch a disgustingly violent movie that came out from before he was even born?

  • @Ant1Live Disgustingly violent? Utter moron, ignorance is bliss, and all that call.

  • @supabeast23 No one in my school knows what Clockwork Orange is.

  • @supabeast23 och away to fuck, just listen to the music and stop directing my attention with your irrelevant bickering. boo

  • @supabeast23 Its the same as other people cant understand why people praise Pelé or Maradona. A clockwork orange was before its time and it laid way for alot of (some good some bad) movies to come. Its the movie who laid the pavement for Ultra violence on the TV.

  • @supabeast23 Or maybe he doesn't wan't to waste his time watching shitty movies.

  • @PTR131

You take that back, good sir

  • @Bonchanoize Go to hell, demon.

  • @PTR131 Maybe you shouldn't waste your time trolling on Youtube.

  • @Bonchanoize Maybe you shouldn't waste you're time arguing with trolls. My comments are more entertaining and have more meaning than Kubrick's degenerate trash.

  • @supabeast23 Merely a good book, not "one of the greatest".

  • @supabeast23 or he's 14

  • @rbmaserang Does it feel nice to be that ignorant?

  • @rbmaserang trololololololol.

  • Eccomi là. Cioè Alex e i miei tre drughi, cioè Pete, Georgie e Dim. è roba che ti fa robusto e disposto all'esercizio dell'amata ultraviolenza.

  • Conker's BFD Theme

  • This is the Grim Reaper's ringtone.

  • There was me, that is Alex, and my three droogs, that is Pete, Georgie Boy and Dim. And we sat in the Korova Milk Bar trying to make up our rassoodocks what to do with the evening. The Korova Milk Bar sold milk plus - milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old Ultra-Violence.

  • Very powerfully played, and fewer flourishes than I've heard in some other performances; it sounds all the more sober for it. Excellent.

  • did he compose this on his deathbed?

  • malenky music

  • Damn baroque trumpets! They are evil. These men have my respect!

  • Great.

  • The Grim Reaper's fave tune!!

    ;-)

  • @MrCUNTYBALLS as he tears your soul out, its played everywhere he goes on his iPod...

  • i'm almost believing in god listening to this beauty

  • What a tremendous recording. Sounds phenomenal in my Etymotics. The drum builds to terrifying intensity.

  • Psyko Punkz vs Sound Freakerz - Voices

  • Purcell, the only Genius of british Classical Music...It's magic music

  • @ThySword777 Are you kidding me? What about Byrd and Farnaby?

  • @Lukecash12 Byrd and Farnaby are great as a Vivaldi, Haendel, Corelli?

  • @ThySword777 Yes, yes they are. What argument can you make against that?

  • Droogs

  • Thanks again, Protestant7, and again and again. Marvelous!

  • SUPREME

  • This is what you hear whilst walking slowly to the gallows.

  • jesus.... that was amazing. only ever heard the synthesizer remake before. this version blew me away.

  • Perfect! Thanks from Brazil.

  • So magnificent!

  • A unique piece. Sounds together and sad and proud.

  • read the story of queen mary and of purcell they both died in their mid-30's. sad yet typical for the time. so much beauty in this music

  • play this when I die

  • Great work! I love baroque brass, they sound a lot "softer" than there contemporary counterparts.

(I tried to do my own version, but with much more limited means)

  • Re: the discussion about Queen Mary: Queen Mary I was called "Bloody Mary" because she killed Protestants, but Henry VIII who killed Catholics and Protestants was not called Bloody. Queen Elizabeth who killed more Catholics than Mary Protestants was not "Bloody". When Catholic James II was dethroned, his daughter became sovereign as Queen Mary II with her husband William (III) of Orange as co-sovereign, as they were Protestants. There was "bloody" killing for 150 years unfortunately.
