@Iluvmydad09 the reason is so he can keep her calm and so she wont be slipping about and hurt the baby, because the baby might have slipped from her then she slipped out and hurt the baby a bit
It's not like its going to drown, its been swimming in water for the past 40 weeks.. it's a very calm transition to help the bubby get used to the outside world :)
@curtisdope He's there to give her emotional and physical support. Whether it's done in or out of the water, it's still OK. The husband can bond skin-to-skin with the newborn, as well.

@kewefruitz it is a routine check for newborn boys. He was checking to make sure there was a opening at the tip of the penis and that both testes have desended. One of the many checks including making sure the newborn has an anus, and that they don't have an extra whole which is a sign of spinabifida I believe... You can google "checks newborn birth) the babycentre website that comes up will explain more. Hope this helps!
@MegaRuby02 It was so that he could better support his wife during the actual birth. Many women not only feel more comforted, but also feel better supported physically when someone supports them from behind.
