Thanks so much for uploading this. I am using this piece as an audition choice for university and I very much enjoyed your playing and interpretation of this piece. I love Telemann; his Fantasia's especially are just a wonderful harmonic adventure that are always a joy to play and learn from. Thanks again!
Can you give me the sheet music for this? i am doing it for my solo contest for school. Please! I am lik desperate to find one, because all the rest are way too easy!
damn kid! lol i was 18 the first time I played that piece when I was auditioning for music schools. That's quite an accomplishment for a 13 year old...kudos to you :D
@OrtziT It was a bit draggy in places, but I didn't think this performance was slow per se. I think we get used to hearing "note machines" cranking through these Telemann fantasias way too fast on modern flutes. Baroque music makes metal flutes sound like appliances if they're played fast and generic IMO. I like the tempi here. They're slow enough to allow us to hear the articulation, which is important to hear, and to allow us to hear the tonal palette of the piece.
wow ! you sounds pretty good for 13 ! I actually play this fantaisy from Telemman too, I like it :) but you play it a bit slower than me ... still beautiful !
¡Gracias, pienso! Uso a un traductor de Internet entonces espero que este sea correcto. ¡No hable español! Yo tenía un tiempo ceder ante figurando lo que usted trataba de decir, pero pensar que conseguí el pensado ello. Gracias, otra vez - usted es muy amable ...
No, your english is fine. Don't worry! I really like all of the Telemann Fantasies and hope I have a chance to do more very soon. This seems like so long ago! Hopefully you will enjoy playing this as much as I did. Thank you for the nice comment!
Thank you! I was, like, 12 or 13 when I did this (I forget which right now). I'm very happy you like it - and that you've subscribed. Thank you again!
We have GREAT neighbors! The local hospital is just a block away, too, and I hear from the nurses who go out for their breaks that they're always hoping he's out on the porch practicing. Believe it or not, as odd as this sounds, when he's practicing, traffic increases on our usually sleepy street. Funny, huh? I've actually had people come up to me at the grocery store, telling me they like to drive by when he's playing on the porch. A small town perk ...
Lol, it's the exact opposite here in Louisiana since the majority of ppl here prefer rap of hip-hop. Not to mention the street behind ours is not the cleanest, nicest ones around. My dad prefers subrural or rural areas to live in and we're about to move somewhere along those lines.
wow....the house looks so, cottage like...lol...in a good way. You know what it reminds me of lol, Wizard of Oz, and i think its because of the Chair!! Love It! What part of the US do you live in?
LOL! That's actually on our porch. It's enclosed and my son has set up his music stuff there. He has a big room upstairs, but he prefers the porch as he can look out as he plays. I think the sound is better there, too. We live in the Northwestern portion of the U.S. It is getting quite cold here now, though not as cold as it will be soon. Hopefully there will be snow soon as it makes no sense for it to be cold, but have no snow ...
Wow! You sound great, too. Kyle's been playing for 5 years, as well, but has only been taking lessons for the last 3 years. They're expensive! And we have to drive 135 miles (each way) to get there. We really DO live in BFE! Thanks again for the comment. You're terrific!
Yeah, you could be right. I don't know! I can't even READ music. He was just 13 when I recorded this, though. He's 15 now! How old are you? I'll go look at your video's -- and ask my son to, as well, when he gets home from school. Thanks for the comment!

Awesome, for your age it's quite good but I think you should give more valour to the lower notes, no? Well keep going^^

I wish i had a front porch... my dad dislikes me playing at night otherwise i'd fall asleep with the metal in my hand.

what kind of flute do you play?
itsthomaas 4 years ago
The flute in this video is a Pearl RBE-something. It's an "intermediate" or "step-up" model.

I love this song, but it's not supposed to be quite that slow at the beginning. "grave" is more of an adjective of the sound more than tempo.
