  • did you titrate? Or do you have a feel for the oil already?

  • @richarddr1234 This is part one of 3 Titration is the meths and drain cleaning mixture that pulls the muck from the oil.

You can use pool tools to measure the PH or you can use your eye and common sense.

If you see good separation your on the right track.

    Cheers

  • anyone tried___ w w w diymagneticmotor com ?

  • i have owned diesels for many years. i have ran transmission fluid. used motor oil threw them. veggie oils. and french fry grease. i have never done this type of bio diesel . it only needs to be cleaned and if you want to thin it just mix it w diesel fuel. . i think it would be dangerous to put a heater to the unmixed methanol. be safe man.

  • @guppyelf

Your right and that's good advice.

    No heating unmixed methanol

  • @craigggy So if you can't inhale, you contaminate the environment. It is alreay in the environment. And by the way, I watched a few videos about free energy and bio energy, and majority of videos are from Aussie. You guys seems are ruined by high gas prices or like to experiment.

  • @guppyelf so I could run peanut oil threw it all I have to do is filter it right? if so what do you use to filter it?

  • @JackD314 depends on the year of the truck bro.. if its a newer truck u may need mods.. mine is a 1985 ford you can check by looking on the net.. this is y i have an older diesel. i wanted to be able to get fuel in a bad time and it looks like it might be a good idea..

  • @guppyelf alrighty thank you for the advice

  • I love the very ending while driving " Do not inhale the vapour..repeat do not inhale the vapour. Thanks for the Vid anyway cragggy. Take it easy my man :)

  • @KrackowKid

    Thanks on your comment cheers

  • fukn simple kiwis. ps everybody in nz talks like him!!!!!

  • dude your not making it right you put in the methanol first then your soda and who makes 20 litters at a time that would take forever to full your car up

  • @stdudly01

I stir or shake the soda into the methanol until it dissolves then add it to the heated waste oil.

    How do you do it?

    Cheers

  • @stdudly01 the right way to do it first u put the methanol then your soda or noah then u stir it then u heat the oil up to 130f then add the methanol and soda into the oil. i bet it takes that guy 2 days to make biodiesel me i have 16 50gallon drums 4 of them is for the oil and methanol and NOAH then 4 more for the stelling tanks then 4 more for my wash tanks then 4 more for my holding tanks so in a day i can make 150 gallon of biodies that can last me a mouth.

  • @stdudly01 so where are your videos of making biodiesel? At least this guy tries to help us, what are you doing besides bragging about your enormous setup? Let us have some vids of you instructing the rest of us on how to make this fuel.

  • @stdudly01 Its NaOH not NOAH

  • nice video man... i m from india, wanna make bio biesel.. can u tell me the cost of this entire process.. thanks....

  • @mandanapuvenu

Watch the Video's read the comments the costs are there.

Besides the New Zealand dollar and the cost of and obtainability of items shall vary.

You need a big bucket preferrably metal really and an element from a hotwater cylinder.

    Cheers

  • Thanks alot very helpful.

  • So, to do 1l of biodiesel, I must use only 7 g of soda and 0.2 l of methanol, right?

That will work? I'm saying this because I need know exactly how do it in order to do one science project.

  • So to make 1 l, I must use 7 g of soda and 0.2 l of methanol. Right?

    That will really work?

  • @Saite15

    Yes Appears so

    1 / 20th of 20 is 1

    4 goes into 20 5 times so 5 goes into 10 twice change the decimal point again for 1 and .2 x 5 = 1

140 grams of soda per 20litres

so 70 per ten litres . Change the decimal point again for 1 and you get 7 grams of soda for 1 litre of oil.

Very good right at the edge of my Mathamatical ability.

    Cheers

  • @craigggy im beginning to like you craiggy - you can take a joke mate.............ps like the biosdiesel vid...

  • @flyingvkid

OMG i laughed my asre off reading your comment!!

  • you look and sound like a gay serial killer

  • wtf christmas man fkin odd

  • Ha what the fuck?

    Anyone seen the other videos?

  • interesting video.

    strange dude.

  • Good!! but, caustic soda corrodes metals secially pistons that are made on Aluminium,I´m afraid that caustic soda particles will remain into your machine Are your car still running?

  • thanks

  • its good advice man. ive done it and it works ,thanks criaggy. nice one !

  • before you have a go at making bio diesel, just check out this fuckin lunatics other vids .

  • @bumole44 lool you saved my time

  • @bumole44 Lol thanks for the heads-up.

  • nice posting! keep it up

  • so that's 20L of used oil, 140g of soda and 4L of methanol. ?

can i do this with unused vegetable oil ?

  • Yes those measurements are correct .

I don't see why using pure Canola oil would be a problem or many other cooking oils.

    Cheers and good luck

  • This is the best video I have seen on how to make Biodiesel. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Questions: 1) Should the oil be heated greater than 50 or 60 degrees? 2) Is the temperature in Fahrenheit or Centigrade? 3) What typr of container you heated the oil in - plastic?

    Thanks!

  • Thanks Mr Pope.

No do not heat above 50 Centigrade.

I used a plastic bucket but that is very dangerous I have since melted it and went on to use a rubbish bin.

I think the best safest idea is to get hold of a used water heater.

I am still making it in dribs and drabs shall try to find some time this weekend.

  • great vid,

thanks a lot for sharing this vid.

ill try making it here in the philippines.

  • Cool , I wish you every success.

  • --Do you titrate your oil or are you using oil with a known acidity?

  • Yes the Video is about the titration process.

  • This video didn't speak to titration at all....

  • Comment removed

  • Do you run your Diesel Truck on that?

  • My Mitsubishi RVR Diesel 4W drive

  • Have to agree with you there.

  • Francis Ford Coppola your not

  • hi craiggy iv had a look for a heating element but have not been able to find one i was just wondering if you now what other things i could get it from please

  • A kettle element is smaller keep trying plumming and electrical supply stores to find a hot water cyclinder element

  • You have to do a search on that.

    Have not tried.

The guy at the shop I bought the drain cleaner from was well knowledged on soap making.

Dont try washing your hands with straight Waste Biodiesel you will burn yourself.

    Take care dont rush anything.

Dont give up if you have a source of free waste oil.

    Cheers

  • How can I make soap out of this, as well?

  • Spot on Boris Karloff Craigy! Goes well with the laboratory there.

  • Surely it is filled with dangerous metal splinters that scrape pistons.

    Please explain the filtration process.

  • can you also make biodiesssseeeel

    out of used motor oil

  • NO absolutely no. Veg Oil only

Crude oil is precessed/refined to make petroleum products, motor oil, gas, karosen and Diesel. Used motor oil breaks down, has additives and fine metal particles. Bottom line YOU can't easily refine used motor oil to fuel. I'm sure with a sophisticated expensive process it can be done, probably cost more than its worth. They do recycle motor oil. What they do with it, not sure, but it could be used for making asphalt or lower grade oil products for example.

  • They use to make roads.

  • its uesed cookin oil ur thinkin bout

  • Used cooking oil is far safer than used motor oil though has to have good filtering using a catalist like methanol and drain cleaner sodium hydroxide.

  • Craiggy is a name my brothers and sister endeared me with when a toddler.

Christ's love is parting from a message with religious peace.

    Cheers

  • Craigggy

  • Hello Craiggy, if your name is Craiggi why do u write Crist love? Is Craiggy your nickname maybe?

  • Can you also pee in the oil? Can it be used to rinse the bad evil glicerine and hydroxide. Also i am thinking to use my used toiletwater for rinse all the poo and the bad stuff out? What you think about my ideas?

  • I expect Pee has roughly the same weight water has.

Expect little cleansing from Pee compared to the Methanol caustic soda mixture.

Do not worry if the oil is a bit thick and the mixture gives poor separation simply let it settle a greater time and when using expect a few stalls until the engines hot.

    Christ's love

  • Hi Craigggggy thx for your fast reply. I tryed to use my toiletwater but the poo not mix with the glicerol. It make just a smelly mess. Also its very difficult to have a shit above the bukket with oil. Pls explain me... is your name Craiggggy our is your name Christ´s love?

  • thanks craigggy very easy to follow mate but what about titration ? dont you need to do that ? or is titration a load of bull!!!! i find your way easy to make biodiesel but dont want to damage my car .

  • I have used Canola oil waste and throw away the denser stuff at the bottom negating the need to titration when visably the oils look the same each time.

I reccomend you try Titration to start with to alleviate concerns unless you live close and wish a simple demonstation to see up close.

    Cheers

  • Did you inhale the vapor?

    Did you inhaaale the vaaapor?

  • Not alot

  • does it make a difference if you use sodium hydroxide or caustic soda?

  • The writing on the packet dissapears when I try to clean it.

My advice is if other people have used Sodium hydroxide and that worked the difference is infintissimil.

    Thanks on the question.

  • I thought Sodium Hydroxide and Caustic Soda were two names for the same thing.

  • I expect thats correct.

    Thanks on bringing to attention

  • It is Methanol

The company near me changed to Hexon though the Auckland company where the drum was shipped from is still Orica New Zealand Limited

1 200 lite drum inclueding GST and shipping $331.41

  • Hi mate

Your videos are very entertaining - enjoyed them a lot!

Just a note about mixing the caustic and methanol. It is safer to add the caustic to the full amount of methanol, little by little.

So put the 4 litres in the tank, and sprinke the 140 g into it. That way, the methanol won't overheat or boil and you will get less dangerous methanol fumes. Remember methanol is pretty poisonous stuff.

    Happy and safe brewing!

  • Thanks Graham but the Methanol is not very hot and smokey until it joins the used oil and using a small amount allows the caustic soda to bang around on the sides of the container when you shake it, helping to break any bumps aiding dissolving.

    I appreiciate your attention thanks.

When the reaction occurs best to stay upwind from the easy to see smokey fumes.

  • I watched that on an Enlish car show and they used a specific Mercedes that was able to cope not all diesel can.

I tried adding the 3% they used and it made no difference to the clean used oil whatsoever.

I shall test at 10% and try running that if I feel the oil is slippery enough.

I methalated Spirits good enough or is there a cheaper Spirit from the hardware store?

    Thanks

  • hi, dont use methalated spirit as it seperates fom the oil. get white spirits(its called mineral spirits in some parts of the world). i have seen and worked on land rovers, misibushi shoguns, volkswagen, ford, vauxhall, all running fine on veg oil. i have seen two UK car shows using veg oil in cars, one uses white spirit the other doesnt, but it must be left for a couple of days for the white spirit to thin the oil.

    cheers

  • Please explain how

  • i have done all the caustic soda mixing stuff but an easier way is simply mix the veg oil with white spirits(mineral spirits) at a ratio of 10% and leave for a couple of days to thin itself. before doing this with used oil its best to let the oil settle for a few days and just use the top layer of oil and avoid the white cloudy gunk beneath it. :-)

  • OK Star Gazer thanks a million.

    Shall find a white spirit.

  • hi, hows it going? is there a part two to this video? just wondered what you done after seperation and if you washed the oil through with water afterwards as if you put it in your tank still tasting of caustic soda it will corrode your fuel lines,, by the way, what make of car do you use this in?

  • I have made part 2

    Shall upload this weekend.

My Car is a 4 wheel drive Mitsubishi Turbo RVR.

What kind of shop sells White Spirits please?

  • hi,white spirits can be brought in a hardware store, its used for thinning paint and washing brushes.

  • never use white spirit,in the uk this would just land you in the same deep water as using red diesil if you were stopped and dipped at the road side,if you think the £400 on the spot fine and your car inpounded till you pay it is worth the hassle then on you go.

i use straight svo in the summer and it work fine, sometimes putting a few gals of derv in when it turns colder,my cherokee purs like a kitten,no problems.

  • Thanks I am not using the White Spirit due to the high cost.

I am from New Zealand and am not aware on any laws regarding spirit use.

    "Shall investigate water"

  • the white spirit to use with veg oil on the UK roads is non kerosene based and that avoids the tax issues.

  • you just add white spirit to veg oil????

  • hi, yes just add white spirit to veg oil at a 10% ratio. i run a twin tank system. if you are using a single tank then you need to mix it with diesel at a 50/50 ratio so it will start in the morning. as winter draws in you add mor diesel 75/25. watch on youtube- top gear veg oil for more info ;-}

  • there is an easier way to run your car on veg oil without all the heating and chemicals you use....... and its so much simpler!
