  • @savagebaboon happy to help

  • god, that woman's english is very americanized for a cambodian with near zero accent.

  • How does a regime of what is clearly insanity rise to power? completely baffling.

  • i love that woman!

  • I was just in Cambodia last November for a study abroad program with my university. It is a WONDERFUL country full of kind people. It is so sad to see how much they've had to overcome with the Khmer Rouge. Props to Anthony Bourdain and the "No Reservations" Crew. You've truly captured the heart of what I believe is the Kingdom of Cambodia.

  • YES! I was just in Cambodia last November. It is a wonderful country and the people are absolutely amazing. It is to bad that they've had such a terrible history. This episode completely captures how I saw the country. Props to the "No Reservations" crew!

  • who is this lady? she's amazing. i wished she was the prime minister of this country.. maybe she could lead the country back to it's formal glory..

  • I've been watching Bourdain for years and years, and finally now, in this episode I can see that he has finally matured into an adult. This is an excellent episode that shows heart, intelligence, and understanding of history and culture and food. The Haiti episode is good, too, but this one really shows that people can grow up. Bravo, Bourdain.

  • @catsmew well said

  • @catsmew you didn't see the laos or lebanon episodes?

  • omg thanks for the upload!

I just came back from there 2 weeks ago and have been looking for this episode for a while.

I went to that restaurant too! LOLOLOL.

  • i'm going back there this summer. so excited.

  • "The road forward is defending the rights of the people with dignity."

Couldn't have said it better. Who thought a simple travel program could go so deep?

  • I can't believe I had never heard of the Khmer Rouge until watching this...sad.

  • @Prue126 I learned of them as a kis watching the movie "The Killing Fields" even sadder the guy survived the Khmer rouge came to America and was killed during a robbery in LA.

  • @Prue126 Watch "Killing Fields" it's a movie about the khmer rouge

  • @ToneProject Funnily enough, it was on television not too long after I watched this. Sadly,I couldn't get into it. It bored me to tears and I stopped watching half way through. I would much rather watch the recent documentary, as movies really only give one perspective from the main character. It's like watching "Titanic" and expecting a historical standpoint.

  • @Prue126 If you are in the U.S, that's because the only history taught in US is Nazi history and pro-Israel crap. The real history of slaughter of Palestinians or the horrific effects of US war in Vietnam, which created the Khmer Rouge, is never shown. The History channel goes on and on about Nazis but not a word about Camboda, Vietnam, Afghanistan, or even Rwanda.

  • @catsmew It's true and not so true at the same time. A lot of my history classes covered a lot, espically world history. But it's usuaully all only sugarcoated popular or famous points in time. It's like something Eddie Izzard said, (I'm paraphrasing here)the US has this thing of, well, if it's not bothering us or if they're killing their own people, we don't give a shit and don't interfere. This kind of indifference is truly the opposite of what it means to be human (at least for me).

  • @catsmew vietnam used the media against america to win that war. and americans to this day think that war was pointless even though it was genocide. people think they just went there to test weapons. its amazing how people use media to do things. the middle east controls the heroin trade george bush saw that but hes a dumbass? he saw the danger in the middle east just like linden b johnson saw in vietnam and south asia but media will say war is bad. stupid people, war made americas peace today.

  • @catsmew america can stop genocide but its the media thats stops them from doing it. like vietnam war. dont stop the war in the middle east. bring them peace from the genociders first
