@mikeswan1970 you must have gotten a bad deal, i got an FL-8 with a case and tackle box all free, and i've fished with 5 other guys with vexi's and have gotten no interference.....and its not that loud.

LOL The metro area is fished out. I just hop the border over to Wisconsin and catch gills the size of my face consistently in the winter. Something that can't be said of the Twin Cities metro area. Gosh I love private lakes.

I just got the Humminbird ice 35 and it dominates my friends fl-8. and it was 20 bucks cheaper. I get a little interference but it's not too bad

no, they aren't the best by any means, they work, but a flasher style unit like this Vexilar, or a Marcum (Humminbird makes them too). is a much nicer unit and the price will reflect that.

Looks like a cool machine, but i have yet to use a fish finder. I print out a map from the DNR website and use it for a referance on depth and bottom type. Its the suprise that makes fishing fun!

i remember when people fished and didnt use a fish finder. that kinda ruins the surprise on whats on the end of the line. and crappie under ice??? id use a small splitshot weight. and use very small to meduium red or silver minnows

great device...i love the aqua vu system cause you can actually see the fish swimming even if they're not biting, but the flasher is definately more portable and will catch you more fish...but please remember to be a good sportsman and let the big one's go on a lake that needs the eggs to ensure more nice fish next year

They sure DO work great in the summer. They sell kits that let you easily convert it to a pro-like mount on your boat. You can also use the Pack as a portable system. You can even set the transducer on the bottom of an aluminum boat and shoot the signal right through the boat to see depth and fish.
