Just watched the Katy Perry Vid and saw Debbie Gibson Cameo in it and it brought me back to my favorite song and music video when I was young!!! Love Debbie Gibson!!! ^_^
I seen her on a starving kids program this a.m, she still looks the same! Reminded me of this song in the 80's, even though I was more into Lee Aaron, Vixen etc, I secretly liked this one too :)
Debbie was the first singer that I truly loved. I remember having the tape of her album. I played it so much that i broke the tape, I was soo mad, that GOD for CD's.
@THEPRANKCALLERS94 I was about 14 when this came out and I wished that had lived in the 60's!! lol I guess the grass is always greener somewhere else. :)
Fantastic, I'm an ole 80's metalhead and 70's classic rocker but I've always dug great female pop melodies in major keys like this. Reminds me of the era of "Forever Your Girl" from Paula Abdul.
innocent times, gotta love it, nowadays times are cruel, raunchy and weird. were is this world going?? this is how things shoulda stayed. I mean they sing about bitches and hoes and drugs and BLING. i mean why put so much enfisus on "things". material things. best things in life are free :)
@guitarace1965 Absolutely,it was the best music of any generation and the best of times for me,except for highschool, which I hated. 80's music and the fond memories of those times will always be alive.Every good song from that era makes me remember a great friend or a special occasion.
I had this on 7 inch vinyl back in the day. It always reminds me of summer and being young and carefree. In the 90's i got into Allanis Morisette, but you really can't beat this.
One of my favorite among Debbie's song. And she looks like my crush where I used to just write a letter. When celphone was out of the blue then. I was in 3rd year high when this song was a hit here in the Philippines. Even though this song only reached 3 spot in the US chart in March of 1988, for me this song must have been no. 1
I remember my older sisters having a Debbie Gibson VHS tape that contained all her music videos. They'd watch it ALL the time, lol. I was about 6 yrs old at the time, but I remember this song, Foolish Beat, and Only on My Dreams. Good times.
Fondest memories of this time in my life, 12 years old, only worries I had were silly friendship quarrels in the school yard and if that girl I liked liked me back. Now it's bills, jobs, financial stress. Ahh take me back to this era!!
I used to have a serious crush on this young lady around this time! And yes, the music was a lot nicer back then, all music seems to rotate around these days is sex, filth and murder!
This album is such an uplift, even on cassette, when you're stuck in a condemned mobile home with a deranged hypochondriac of a mother, and surrounded by leering "you'll never be one of us" classmates...
I remember this song when I was in High School, the girl I was dating at the time, this was 1 of our song that discribed our relationship, it still does bring a tear to my eyes when I do listen to it. 80's Rock rules! You will not find any better music than that!
This was along with "Red Hot" my favourite Debbie Gibson song, i actually still have the album on cassette tape, she looks so beautiful there and has an amazing voice. thank you for posting darkman7314.
@1caligurl78 No kiddin'...I would never have admitted it at the time but I was a Deb fan...Even tho I'm a guy, & not sposed to like this sort of music...But sweet melodies, a terrific voice, & her winning looks won me over. Beats the nihilistic Rapcrap & Lady Goo-Goo junque of today 7 ways to Sunday..
The thing I've always really loved and admired about Debbie Gibson other than her incredible dance-pop vocals is the fact that she actually did write a lot of her own music. That's why I've always liked her way better than Tiffany who mostly just did cover songs like "I Saw Him Standing There" and "I Think We're Alone Now". Out Of The Blue is my all time favourite Debbie Gibson song and it still grabs hold of my heart to this day whenever I hear it.
I had a HUUUGE crush on Debbie Gibson in 1988 when I was 16. My heart burned with lust when I first saw this video. She was starting to become seeexy! And sexy she was also in Foolish Beat,Only In My Dreams,Shake your Love(my personal favorite) and Lost in Your Eyes videos.
@whiteboy7931 Seriously? You must have quit following her. She's still putting out music from time to time, and she's focusing on her acting and Broadway career. She's still rocking it out.
There was a girl in my school back in the day that looked just like her-hat and all. That's all I can think of when I see this video. I wonder what she looks llike now?
Back then I'd probably have watched this video and moved to the beat.....now, I experience this and just want to cry because I miss these times so freakin' much and I miss the innocence of 80s music......the songs had actual melodies that you could hum to, the backing instruments (whether synthetic or not) were always sparkling and fun....the videos were known for creativity, not shock value.....sigh.....
Don't know why (just what like Debbie says) I like this yuppy beat/melody....reminds me of younger better childhood days....
