  • For gods sake man wheres your push stick! ive had friends loose fingers doing it that way.

  • You are n°1

    Best Regards

  • what's the difference between this and 'normal' lumber for woodworking? What makes it firewood?

  • Firewood gets burned.

    Lumber for woodworking gets woodworked.

Usually, the firewood lumber isn't that good a lumber, but some parts of it often are quite nice.

  • Matt...

Much safer to devise a work-hold to remove the worst of the rough on the bandsaw. Then you go to the planing machine/jointer. Regardless of whether you plane it off or bandsaw it away, it's still waste. Much safer and less wear on your planer knives, which are always a hassle to change and reset!

I am going to look thro' my woodpile!

    Regards

    MC

  • Beautiful smile. :-)

  • Buy a cheap metal detector to. Might find some bullets, nails, etc.

  • You are the Jesus of wood.

  • Your right, If only it had accrued to me I believe it would have been a cool video too. I made sure that all the old weathered parts of the table showed so as to make it look as rustic as possible and I left as much of the edges of it as irregular as I could too for the ole pastoral look and to make it look as pioneer made as I could. It came out very sturdy and strong and sits very level. My friend I made it for gets compliments all the time. Maybe next time I can get a picture of it to share.

  • Ahhh.... cutting wood is so relaxing..

  • mathias rules!

  • I just finished making a rustic table for a friend of mine and I used some beautiful old red oak wood from his firewood pile in his back yard to do it. I did it all, old school too and used no modern metal fasteners or glue. I did all the wood cuts and everything with all hand tools too. Maybe I should have made a video of it for YouTube too. I didnt think of it at the time...

  • you should have. would have been a cool one.

  • lol why dont u just use an axe

  • @Zukovec

Why doesn't he use an axe, you might ask?

The answer to that, is that technology exists.

  • @DefinitelyNotNoah

wasting electricity to cut a piece of wood that is going to burn... so weird...

  • @molinobeer get with the plot IT was going to be firewood but it has been given a new lease of use.

  • @Darganeor

what I mean was that he is wasting electricity and wood by turning it in chips.. he could have just used an ax.

there is no need to be that perfect to be burned...

  • @molinobeer again... you miss the point...

he took a piece of wood that USED to be firewood, and will be using it for WOODWORKING projects... He didn't just take wood, put some square edges on it and STILL had the intention of burning it...

  • @G19Fanatic

    Ok, i get it.

  • Because that's not how things work.

  • how many splinters do you get?

  • Hmm Always wondered how they made the actual tree into wood used to make things.

  • I have no use for these videos, but I just like watching them anyways... idk y :|

  • @awesomeSkins well then your not allowed to watch them. If your going to watch him build a bandsaw u have to build a bandsaw. there is no other choice. lllolol

  • @awesomeSkins Same with me

  • seems like you should have a larger fence

  • how are you going to clean the wood chips up??!

  • he will probably make a vacuum out of the firewood that he just made into lumber because he is just that good

  • @cavedude80 i just subed u

  • nice jeans

  • I wouldn't have thought of firewood as a good building material.

is this done out of necessity?

  • Good information, thanks.

  • I love your videos man. Quick question, are you using an external microphone? You always seem so quiet, lol

  • i <3 wood

  • why didnt u use ur home-made bandsaw?

  • that IS my home made bandsaw. I just painted it.

  • @Matthiaswandel

take that as a compliment lol

  • from my comment? it was supposed to be.

  • oh. i didnt recognize it. it looks really sweet. nice job on it.

  • @Matthiaswandel thanks for sharing the info videos makes my life easier, my neighbor from CANADA, JEFF

  • iv never thought of turning fire wood to board like things or even using them inless they were relly good peices and i had no other nice band saw btw

  • you look like lewis off of ghost busters well somewhat.

  • yeah

  • The band saw came out really nice. I had to look twice to see if it was the one you made yourself.

  • You're right... I didn't notice with the green paint job. Good observation.

  • can you burn the sawdust just like it was the Wood?

  • yea

  • sure but do you think the fire will last as long?

  • @killercanofcola Its such a awefull lot of waste ,good if it could be used instead of thrown out like im sure some people do.

  • well, you could make paper out of it.

  • @rroge5 what do you think the fire logs you buy from the grocery store are made from?

    sawdust and glue ;)

  • @gonepishing omfg realy? oh thats lame!.

  • could you mix the sawdust in with some pellets and let it feed into a pellet stove?

  • @RDJim

Maybe. I saw a shop heater once, made from a 50 gallon drum to burn a charge of packed sawdust.
