I'm still waiting for those videos you mentioned. Like the series on Racism? In fact there's a lot of things you say you'll do and then forget to do them or just don't. Maybe I'm missing some explanation on a forum, but I think you ought to keep those in mind.
I met you while commenting on the Kelso interview about Batra being 15 years out on the crisis of a major financial breakdown.
But I want to mention a though I had about your new channel. Its name should have something to do with the "matrix" being in our heads and not enforced by physical "agent Smiths"..
Hey Stan it seems like you found some of the answers you were looking for. Love the t-shirt by the way. Glad to see you doing some of your own stuff independently of Matthew. Look forward to seeing a grown up and mature discussion about racism. For what it's worth to you I started watching your stuff before Matthews. I like movie reviews but gravatate more toward serious issues. Thanks.
You're welcome. Besides, you've got some enjoyable videos.
And if your interested in doing a series on racism, might I recommend checking out videos done by username kkilo34? He...is actually an abrasive dick...but that's kind of how he gets his point across. And he makes good points...
Oh, and I can't believe almost forgot to mention, "HOOOOOOOOO!!!"
Your Confused Matthew's brother why wouldn't we care for you? :) Anyway your welcome and I'm glad you kept wearing a hat. Can't wait for the vids about racism but I hope you make those movie reviews you promised last year. For example Across the Universe and Fahreheit 911. Still waiting for those. In the mean time stay safe and keep up the good work.
@o2theh "Your Confused Matthew's brother why wouldn't we care for you?"
Wut? You care for him because he happens to be the brother of someone you are a fanboy of? And if he wasn´t confused matthews brother ... then what? He could jump of a cliff for all you care?
No, but I know the argument he makes in it. I can't speak to the contents of the book (but if you've read it, tell me if you agree with me on this), it seems to me that he is less interested in what morality actually "is", and more interested in stating which domain it should fall under: Religion or Science. and given the two options he obviously answers "Science". I think that his whole argument is based on a false dichotomy.,
@standinstann plus he doesn´t seem to even entertain the idea that there could be an is/ought gab that dissolves pretty much every argumentative line he tries to make from stated facts towards ethical applications
@DeHerg Yeah, he seems to think (and this is just from watching the lectures he's given on the subject) That is and ought are (or can be?) the same. but, does that apply to anthropology? By simply describing that totalitarian states exist can we infer that they ought to? that the ought not to?
Also, if the reduction of the suffering of conscious creatures is the real good; what do we make of the fact that human beings regard "knowing" as good for its own sake (con't)
@standinstann If I teach you that the world is round and not flat; the mere fact that you now know the way things really are is good in and of its self, regardless of the fact that it doesn't mitigate any suffering. Now, he's identified one sound moral practice, and that is to reduce the amount of suffering that exists in the world is good, but I'm not sure he even needed to say it. Nobody ever thought otherwise.
@standinstann "what do we make of the fact that human beings regard "knowing" as good for its own sake " well not all humans do that(take for example parents who try to shield their children from certain knowledge and even train them to avoid it later as an adult)
@DeHerg "Now, he's identified one sound moral practice, and that is to reduce the amount of suffering that exists in the world is good" the problem is, he is unable to argue why that is good (IMO thats because it´s nothing more than an opinion we (pretty much) all share inter-subjectively)
@DeHerg That's exactly right. well put. He never really said why that is, other than the fact that: because suffering involves the brain, and the brain is the domain of science, we can shoehorn morality into the domain of science, if it is concerned exclusively with suffering.
What he doesn't understand is that it is not a tossup between religion and science. NEITHER are the domain under which morality falls. (more in vid).
@DeHerg I have to say, parents who do that STILL regard knowing as a good in its self. the reason that they sheild their children from "some" knowledge is because, either they don't think its age appropriate, or they think that it's false knowledge.
We've been trying to get the whole "skype" thing working, and to work out how we would see the movie at the same time since we live in different cities now.
@standinstann How about this Stan, you guys pick a day to see a new movie maybe not in the exact same time, get your Skype ready and record your thoughts. Hope that helps. :)
@ErnilEnNaur I hope he sends clips of it. Only then Confused Matthew's face will be revealed! Ha Ha Ha! Assuming if he goes to Stan's wedding of course.

If you are going to talk about racism, I suggest you should be careful about the subject.
