I will begin my workout with 4 sets of 25 push ups. Then 5x5x5 with 45lb weights on my back. Then three 30sec planks with 45lbs. Then 5 push ups with 90lbs. Then two 30sec planks with 90lbs. Then one or two 30sec plank with 135lb. Each set beginning with only 20sec rest and add 5sec every rep. But one thing I found easy for me was to find one of the belts at the weight room for more stability. But I stack them all at once b/c I don't have a spotter ever. The hard part is putting the weights on
regret it. I use a weigted vest and now I just do weighted vest perfect pushup and weighted widegrip pull up and then weighted chin ups and weighteddips all at a station at home.
Seen much better results. My bodyweight is 225 and lets just say I cant add all 100 pounds and rep rep out yet. So if I cant get that why pay for a gym memebership. I had a 275 pound bench press before I gave up the gym.
you should do the type of weighted push ups I do there so much easier and way more comfortable. You get 3 chairs get a back pack with 2 textbooks in it then get one of those straps people use to hold weights when doing weighted pull-ups, attach the weights to it put it over your back. Put 2 chairs where your arms will be then one where your foot is. Then do your push ups! try it the way your doing is uncomfortable and difficult to set up.
thats insane lol , i started doing press ups like this about a month ago and did 40kg for 10 press ups , if any wants to give this ago i would start off light first , but i think its a great way of doing press ups :)
Pretty solid man. You may want to transition to doing one-armed pushups at this point. I'm betting you could do them legitimately (i.e. not the altered form bullshit a lot of people do).
I can't imagine it would be good on the spine IF you don't have sufficient core strength to keep your upper body strait. As long as you can maintain good core tension while performing the lift you should be alright.
I have seen great results from weighted push ups, but variety is very important as well. If you haven't done them before definitely work them into a routine and see how you like them.
i didn't say 'its gonna compress his spine', but asked if he felt it was...you commented on my post of over 3 months old to ask that? really dude...c'mon man ahah
i'm waiting for when a weight falls on his hand :p

great work...however cant help asking how does all that weight feel on your back? does feel to compressing on the spine?
Btw have you seen pretty decent results from heavy weighted push ups?
