  • thats the creepiest fucking opening i have ever seen

  • @327bran lol, I get that, I was trying for something that really did not work....lol

  • @rednecktrucker1969 lmao im sure it was one of those things that seemed more comical in your head huh xD i do that all the time

  • The main part of this "Optimization" is not removing programs but configuring over 100 different settings to make the computer run quicker and more efficiently.

Yes, there are shortcuts that are removed from the desktop but the programs are still on the computer .

Basically, if you don't want to buy the computer they have DON'T BUY IT. There are other computers available and if they have to order one, then they can do so. This video seem more like just trying to garner attention over nothing.

  • @mbraase wow a reply from the corporate office itself, trying to defend a horrible experience and lying employees. Everything I said in this video is true and happened, when quoting what others' said, I was factual. You were not there, your fluffy, "love the corporation" story may be true in a policy manual, but it does not hold true for the real world. So go back to your cubicle and suck some more corporate cock. :)

  • @rednecktrucker1969 Jumping to conclusions much? I do not work for any corporate office.

We live in America and have the freedom to buy what we want and to not buy what we want. If they didn't have a computer that did not have this "optimization" on it, just get a different computer or go somewhere else. Nothing is forcing you to buy from a Best Buy store. Your reactions are what led me to believe that you were seeking attention.

  • @mbraase This is the deal, I live in a very small town, takes 30 minutes to drive to the best buy. They advertised a good deal, we got there, they only had one left, the optimized one. would not give me a rain check because the technically were not out of them. They caid they could un-optimize the last one, but it would take a week to do it. So I had felt like I had been put through the corporate ringer at that point. I really did take 5-6 months to cool down from this nightmare experience.

  • Wow! Yeah, I have seen those "Optimized" ones. Creepy if you think about it.

  • @Tobie2 I still can't get over the fact that they kicked me out once they realized I was not going to buy from them. Geesh, its like a 6'2" 410lb guy is somehow intimidating or something....lol

  • No doubt the reason you were removed from Best Buy was for telling the truth about their shitty "deal" in public. You embarrassed them. Well done. Very entertaining video. I had a good laugh at that one. :)

  • Actually, next time that you want a computer, just go to system76. com and you can "customize" the computer, the way that you want it and it comes home delivered. i got this "netbook" Starling model delivered right to my address for only $365.31 and took 11 days from when the order was processed and within 5 minutes, i was using it... True "plug & play" :-D The only thing is that the operating system is Linux, takes a bit of getting used to but in 13 months, it has yet to crash! :-D

  • Cool :-)

  • I bet that you can't resist visiting my channel ;-p

  • I bet that you can't resist visiting my channel ;-p

  • "You buy it this way or you don't buy it?"

Not true, the machine i'm using right now is un-optimized by Geek Squad. Tell them up front you want one that came from the factory, they have to honor your request...even if it means they have to scour multiple stores to find one!

  • @shyvr well, the town I live in, there is only 1 BB and the next one would be 50 miles away, so maybe they don't do that for rural areas. :)

  • thats some crazy shit.

  • I haven't been in a Best Buy for some time - in fact I rarely go into shops at all unless there's something I need now. I buy it all off the internet. When my laptop went wonky last month I took it to Geek Squad. Their pimply faced assistant told me it would have to be sent off for six weeks, but he reckoned it was a waste of time as the motherboard was clearly shot. So I took it to Fry's who charged me less to look at it & correctly identified the problem as a faulty power supply...

  • Very entertaining. Thanks for sharing. Best Buy told me they "optimized" a TV for me. Which meant they "set up" the tint and color and shit for $120 bucks. I bought the same TV someplace else. I called them stupid too.

  • Ohh man. Just thinking how much you own me for all that stuff you never got from me.

    Holy crap I´m rich.

  • geek squad is a total ripoff. but their dvd prices on release day are insanely good

  • I've never thought Best Buy was great for computers, they're best for exotic house hold products, and media if they have deals

but I CAN'T BELIEVE they kicked you out, but FUCK'Em

  • I went to geeksquad on the web since it was the first hit from google: best buy geek squad. And guess what? They put up an obnoxious popup "We'd like your feedback. Thank you for visiting GeekSquad com. You have been randomly selected to participate in a customer satisfaction survey to let us know how we can improve your website experience. The survey is designed to measure your entire site experience and will appear at the end of your visit." I gave them the url to this video.

  • I recently bought a new computer, a Mac Pro, which is one computer that I know Best Buy does not carry. I bought it from a local, independent Apple store but purchased my monitors for it from Best Buy. While I will agree, BB is typically higher priced then other stores for things, but I did purchase the monitors from them. When asked if I wanted the extended warranty that they constantly push, I simply laughed in the guys face. Their practices are laughable.

  • @junosden A few Best Buy's in Minnesota, sell Apple products.

  • what bastards!!

  • That's a neat little scam

  • It's pretty amazingly stupid. It's extortion.

Especially considering you can do it yourself in about 10-20 mins

  • Just go to newegg.com and order a comp. Much easier.

  • I would rather jam hot nails in my ears than try and rationally deal with Best Buy.

  • you should just cut all your hair off it would look better. and best buy is in canada as well.

  • Best Buy should be sued by the manufacturers for doing this. The reason the computer manufacturers can even sell the computer for so cheap is because the preloaded software companies pay THEM to put it on there, with the understanding that the software will make it to the end user.

  • 2 guesses (not necessarily mutually exclusive).

    1) The stuff they removed causes lots of returns and/or support calls. It confuses customers or allows them to bugger up the computer.

    2) It's stuff they can sell to customers who want it (with a big mark-up) later.

  • I only go to best buy if I need something right away, but don't have enough money for it.. They finance and usually offer no interest for a year or more... that said, I still think they suck, and I try my best to go elsewhere.

  • Oh boy.

Best Buy screwed me in a different way about 9 years ago in a different way that involved a 2-year contract with MSN's ISP service. What proceeded was a personal 2-year war against Best Buy and Microsoft.

It's nice to see that things have gotten worse. I can't wait for them to sink.

  • Canada has BestBuy too :D we just got one in my town. Geeksquad is BS.

  • My dad bought a laptop computer from Best Buy yesterday. :/ I kept telling him that it's smarter to just get a custom built one from the website I used to get my computer, but he's an impatient old bastard and didn't feel like waiting two weeks for delivery. I'm glad he at least turned down all the "services" offered by Geek Squad.

  • i've seen that with best buy before all you need to do is blow em out of a cannon and tell em your not paying them for things they took out that you were perfectly able to take out yourself if you did'nt want them. they will generally accede and give you the item at the advertised price...

  • Ahhh... that's true. They remove AOL and all the other crap that consists of spamvertiser content you really don't want. The spamvertiser stuff is put in there by the manufacturer to help pay for the systems bottom line. However, they are NOT ALLOWED to do this. That store was not "optimizing" anything legally as that's part of the manufacturers contract with Best Buy. You really don;t want the crap, but they legally can't do that if they're selling under contract from HP, Dell or Compaq, etc...

  • @RyuDarragh I kind of figured that was what they removed, but it should still be my choice and not described as "stuff I dont want", maybe I love AOL....lol not, but still. :)

  • @rednecktrucker1969: Oh, I agree. What has me going O.o is how they are doing this as I know retailers fought against so called "preloaded spam" a few years ago and lost. That's why HP, Compaq, Dell and so many other Windows platform devices come "preloaded" with spemvertising, like AOL and YaHoo! and more. It's there by an agreement to "lower costs" to the consumer by allowing spamvertisements. There are free "crapware" removers out there, so this is another "extended warranty" type scam.

  • I bought my printer from Best Buy ONLY because they had a deal with Kodak where you trade in your old printer and get $50 off any Kodak printer, and they had them on sale anyway, so I got it for $80 off. They buying experience was a horror story that still, a year later, angers me, but they tried to sell me a USB cable, which I needed. They had a 6' for $20. Amazon has a 10' for $4. HAHA...monoprice has a 15' for $1.30 and with shipping, it was less than $4, and its just as good as any.

  • I buy a lot of shit at best buy. Computers never have been or ever will be one of them. When I worked at a computer reseller we would "optimize" also, which usually meant reinstalling the OS without things like non-English characters. Took about 15 min.

  • Fuck BB and all the other megacorp multinationals.

  • Sounds like the American equivalent to PC World here in Britain.

    They are evil... evil people.

  • Ford does something like that ,But what they do is sell you ad ons that were put in what seems to there from beginning And you are billed for the removal and installation plus the parts And they won't let you buy the parts out right to install yourself .Maybe that is why there are so many more new Camaro's out running the streets.

  • I only buy small ticket items from best buy like dvds, video games, and cameras, because I'm pretty sure that even best buy can't fuck those things up.

  • who needs breaks? ;)

  • Sounds more like WORST buy!

This joke has been optimised by Geek squad!

  • I guess their corporate motto should be:

    Best Buy - Somewhere else.

  • Boy that is sad all because you asked them a question about the computer. They are sad.

  • Why am I not surprised Best Buy pulls this shit. The only thing that amazes me is that Best Buy has managed to remain in business with their fucking retarded policies.

  • My grandmother paid geeksquad to fix her computer and they charged her a little over $100 and didn't do anything to it. I ended up fixing it myself a month later.

  • @AQuietVoice I have never heard anything good about them. :)

  • @AQuietVoice

I need to start doing computer repairs again....they charge as much as I charge for engineering consulting!

  • Just admit it, you were hired by sears for this video, you corporate sellout :))

  • @Your1maginaryFriend yup, thats why it took 6 mo....need to wait 4 the check to clear. :)
