It's about a decision Obama has made and, in my opinion, he did the right choice: Beyoncé is an AMAZING artist, possibly the greatest female singer and entertainer of the decade, and she is an excellent role model for every person in the whole world. There's a thing called contractual appearances and maybe, just maybe she was required to be there? It's called respect -- a long lost tradition these days. Beyonce should have asked Ettta --even if Etta doesn't hold the rights (no idea). Take a second & put yourself in Etta's shoes -- especially in the context (the first Black president). People now days always talk about the "respect" they have for all those who came before them - it's "hip" to do so, but mostly just talk, no action. He is my President and I'm disappointed in him for this too. Sorry that Etta blew it --musta hurt so bad : (

It's not about who's best and who's worst. It's about a decision Obama has made and, in my opinion, he did the right choice: Beyoncé is an AMAZING artist, possibly the greatest female singer and entertainer of the decade, and she is an excellent role model for every person in the whole world. Of couse Etta James didn't like Obama's decision, but she shouldn't hate on Beyoncé. She could have been more respectful.

if i was beyonce, out of respect, i would have asked etta to do a duet with me. it would have showed how young and old came together to vote and "at last" he's here. its just a respect issue, it was her song way before beyonce even existed. Etta made the song a classic and etta actually lived through racism and civil rights....so to sing at the 1st black president's ball would have meant way more to etta than beyonce. i think this was a misstep for beyonce.

i really do love both. etta james made singers like beyonce, and im sure beyonce knows this which is why she sang one of her songs. beyonce is very gifted and if i had to choose someone of our day and time to give "at last" justice it would be beyonce without a doubt. i guess etta just resents that beyonce is on top. etta should be proud cause its probably her influence that helped beyonce get where she is. both are amazing and both are tops with me.

I think it's funny she hasn't complained about Christina Aguilera singing At Last. That's how she got signed after all. I can't stand Beyonce but I like her version better than Christina's and I would think Ms. James would too since its closer to the original which isn't Ms. James' as someone already mentioned. It was sang in 1941 I believe by Ms.Pearson. At least Beyonce gave Ms. James recognition
