I met them when i was 14yrsl old in New Orleans, la. My sister's father in law ran the gift shop in their hotel. So, he go me a pass to go to their room Mary is no longer with us. She had beauitful long silky real blonde hair. But, she looked very pale.And i saw Peter in Bogoda,Calif. In a restuarant with a young lady. I think it was his niece. They are beautiful people.I can play most of their songs on my trusty ovation guitar.

I think PP&M lyrics are based on Moses saying (paraphrase) 'set my people free' . The mountain is most likely Mount Sinai. Historically, that would precede the Christmas bent on the lyrics. I'm interested in knowing when which version of the lyrics appeared in American culture. Anyone got the facts? I'm curious as to what Michelle Bachman's story would be about this ....LOL

I am used to hearing the version "That Jesus Christ is Born." This is a much more progressive version, sort of like a Negro Spiritual or Gospel song that would have been fitting at a Civil Rights rally. Mary was progressive and Civil Rights was one of her many causes.

But what enthusiasm and soul PP&M show here! Some singers today scream and yell and wriggle or try to be seductive or whatever, but somehow they come across as fake. PP&M were genuine in their music and their feelings.

I saw PP&M every time they had a concert to Columbus Ohio and can still see Mary's foot tapping on the stage floor in my mind's eye.

Those concerts were so powerful and beautiful, they not only changed my perspective on life, but I rank those concerts among the great moments in my life.

I was going to say I'm surprised to see a thumbs down, then saw that it was a mistake! They were phenomenal. One of a kind. Three great and very distinct and unique voices that blended perfectly. My older silblings got me started on them when I was 4 and I've loved them ever since. I was spinning their records myself on our stereo when I was 5! @blueblazer68 about 2 years ago I posted a performance of PPM on Steve Allen Show doing this somg. I had nearly 300,000 views when it got booted off . I'm sure this was shot within a week or so of the Steve Allen show. I perfer the SA version as the bass is up in the mix more than here. This song is PPM at their best. Pure excitement.
