Houston Ballet is my home company! :) so glad to hear great things about the intensive and teachers. The recently built Center for Dance is beautiful too if you can get a chance to go there again!
I got accepted to level 5--do you remember if the second three week session is able to perform on the end of program performance? Because I can't attend the first week in the six week program because of a family wedding :( I really really want to go though!! And also, how old were most of the girls in level 5? Or level 6?
@littlemiss7241 Unfortunately neither of the 3 week programs can do the final performance, but the rehearsals that you are not a part of are supplemented by other classes with other kids not doing the performance.
I got in for level 5 for this summer of 2011 and I'm not staying in the dorms I'm staying with my grandmother who lives there.oh I also get to dance at there new studio it's sooooo big compared to where I dance.
Ohhh my goodness I totally know what you mean about the teacher, haha. He was really funny but one time I had to partner with him because there was an odd number of people in the class... yeah, needless to say it was quite awkward... and it involved quite a bit of sweat and me having to grab his thigh because we were doing this weird, upside-down lift :P
I loved Ms. Rojas too and all of her hilarious phrases! She was awesome :)
I know she would always say that haha! She was our favorite too! Kirsten definitely knows how sweaty he gets...she had to partner with him and do a flip over his back which involved grabbing his inner thigh...it was awkward.
Yes, I do believe that they did partnering (or at least they did when I was there) but I dont remember if it was once or twice a week :/ They usually partnered with level 6 men. The counselors said that the curfew was to be in the dorms was 9 but it didn't really matter because everyone was in the building anyways since there was nowhere else to go but the cafeteria which closed before that. Also, the curfew to be in our rooms was 10:30 which was VERY strictly enforced as we said in the video!

If I am 15...is it possible for me to just go for 3 weeks instead of 6?
dancernjs 1 month ago
@dancernjs If you are accepted into level 5 you can go for 3 weeks or 6, but levels 6-8 can only go to the 6 week program.

@Sillygoose1997 If they haven't changed the rules from 2009, then yes you can as long as you both request each other :)
