@SafeAtHomeUS Thanks for watching, I got delayed finishing the series to to a flooded basement a few weeks ago. Stay tuned, I'll be posting the .223 shooting comparison. I've shot the HPR part, and now I need to shoot the Wolf part, then start the editing process.
Great info. Look forward to the rest of the series. I'm late to the party here but if you do this with other ammo in the future, maybe a look at the "handy-wipes" after cleaning your hands would show the viewer a good look at how dirty the loading was.
@Cr0cket20 lol, one of these days you'll have one. The good thing about waiting is cool new offerings like the Beretta come to market. In the meantime, you can always borrow one from a certain buddy, lol.
@AppalachianFreedom thanks, I gotta figure something out with indoor lighting. My current camera doesn't do well with standard lighting, and the halogen work lights are like all or nothing, lol.
@DUKnCVR2010 i've been thinking how to evaluate that. Maybe start with a clean Glock, shoot HPR, run patches through it, and do the same with Winchester ammo, then compare patches . . .
@drzmanproject i may join you on this little data collecting experiment. ive been looking for an excuse to buy some HPR ever since sootch posted about it.
I don't think I would be interested in this ammo just being honest. For one the price is pretty high for once fired brass. But it is all made in USA, and it's really clean so I see.
@chavezchavez556 the .223 is once-fired, at least for now. I think in time they are planning on using new brass. the 9mm they sent is all new brass. Cost is certainly an issue for most of us, though.
@uncleben03 yeah, they use a polymer coating now, not lacquer. Also, I read that the sticking/jamming issue is related to the steel casings not expanding as much as brass casings, so there are slight gaps allowing gases and carbon to leak back into the chamber. The risk for jams seems highest when shooting steel casings, (which carbons up the chamber), then following with brass casings, which expand in the chamber and bind to the carbon buildup.
Great series I look forward to watching. I am sure HPR is great but at $440 for 1000 rounds I cant do it. I get the wolf for $220 per 1000 rounds. Why cant an American company make a round that will compete with the Russian pricing.
@MichiganTNP Schmoo, thanks for watching, yeah, price has been an issue for lots of viewers. I'm thinking part of the decision about which ammo to purchase relates to . . . Philosophy of Use, lol. Some guys and gals will choose Wolf for basic recreational shooting in their middle-class to value ARs, and some will choose HPR for serious practice/training for matches, or for their higher end ARs, reserving the super expensive high end match ammo for major matches or for hunting.
@dafrogtoad Thanks for the comment - one thing I will be looking at is whether it has different point of impact or size groupings from other ammo - thoughts?
@dafrogtoad I'm not in your class as a pistol shooter, but I have better results with this ammo than I do with "run of the mill" medium quality stuff I get from other sources and equal to any "match" stuff I ever bought. That's why i use it for "serious" practice. I call it a few steps above 'plinking" ammo, and just below "match" grade. I EDC a Ruger LCP and find this to be EXCELLENT practice ammo for that. It well mimics the results I get with my "carry" ammo (hornady)
@dafrogtoad wow, great comments. This is one reason I love YouTube - people can share their own observations. I'm no expert, but it's nice to put something out there and have people use it as a springboard for comments.
How clean is your rifle after firing the ammo ? Witch is cleaner for the gun ?

I've been wondering how clean hyperclean is myself. Be interested to see your shooting data.

The best data point I got from this is that Wolf upgraded their stuff! Thanks Z
