This is a great song for traveling down a smooth stetch of road near dusk with a red afternoon sun just about to go below the horizon. Its soothing and energizing at the same time. Roland sounds great.
Amen...this is one of the coolest songs ever...I have tix for the 7/17/09 show in Costa Mesa, CA (2nd time seeing them) abd I can only wish for gems like this and Fish Out Of Of Water...
Agreed. This kind of reminds me of a real trippy version of Marvin Gaye. Only Roland could mix Motown & Pink Floyd and have it sound so good. Hope you enjoy the show.
i use to have this show on video in the late 90's. its an audience shot from oct 93, its fairly good but theres these 2 girls screaming at the top of thier lungs to play SHOUT. you can hear em a little here.. they are so annoying....
Aaaahh! Roland can try as much as he wants... he can't go wrong. He is too much of a good thing. He is indeed the finest man alive. His voice and talent are from another galaxy. His looks.... aaahhh.... dreamy.
i watched roland at the nec for the elemental tour brilliant show.i am a massive fan but you could tell the british public don,t like change as about 5000 attended an arena with a capacity of 12000.on the elahe tour they played the nia academy which held about 7000 and it was packed but i don,t care as live they are one of the best i,ve seen and the other great live band i saw was the editors.
That was not a true story. Roland did mention that in the press, because he couldn't take anymore of the "Why Tears for Fears split?" sort of questions thrown at him.
Much as I respect Roland Orzabal, I would say it was extremely distasteful on his part to make such a comment.
But I recently discovered that this song is one of the anti-Curt Smith songs of the album. "Mr. Pessimist" is a reference to him, if I am not wrong. But Curt did like this song and "Fish out of Water", bizarrely! Roland seemed to have been the most affected when Curt left the group in 1990. Just look at the feeling he conveys, here. But this is a good song unlike the deplorable 'Fish Out of Water'.
Well Roland had his little Lennon - McCartney style post breakup quarrel via song lyrics. I like both songs. Imho, Roland is not capable of writing a bad song.
This is what makes me so jealous of Mrs Orzabal. I wish I had been old enough to get my hands on him before Mrs Orzabal did. :)

Yeah they hate playing the old songs for some reason. They always want to concentrate on the new songs rather than playing the old songs.
I'm sure Shout was the last song that Roland wanted to play.

Yeah, you might be a little bitter if your best friend slept with your wife too.

Is it me, or did Roland look a little fat in this video?

I was thrilled to see bare arms! I would take the fat and be happy with it. He IS the finest man alive.

I read that article as well ajittffcure. I think the line that the article was referring to as anti-Curt was:
Listen Mr Pessimister,
With your Catholic taste,
Oh listen Mr Pessimister Pessimister,
We do not relate.
Good thing is, they are now back together and hopefully will stay together for as long as they can:-)
