So many amps..... and a '59 Les Paul.... you lucky skunk. Fabulous playing, though! Awesome work with Sebastian Bach, too. I've been waiting a long time for an album like Kicking & Screaming.
How does it compare to Vox, Top Hat, divided by 13, Two Rock? If you could only have one amp what would it be and why? I play U2, Radiohead, Audioslave, Matchbox 20, type stuff as well as old Alice in Chains etc
I have to say, I have yet to hear a decent demo of 65amps where it isn't breaking up. For a lot of the classic rock stuff I play (standard stuff, Wonderful Tonight, some ballads and blues) I don' t like a lot of that breakup. Like a lot of guitar players I like to have it just on the edge where it is still clean, but just breaks up when you dig in, and then push it more with an overdrive pedal. His chord work , even with single coils, though, dirtier then I like it. Is there much headroom here?
Now this is how an amp should sound! The overdrive is sweet! I'll bet you could even get some nice heavy tones with an overdrive pedal pushing the front a little.
nice job. Nick, are you using any overdrives with this video or is it just the amp, guitar and your volume knob? It looked like you didn't change the amp settings much.
Can't believe I'm saying this to another dude, but "your custard pie, I declare, it's sweet and nice!" Seriously though, can't wait for the new album.
I can't tell you how strange it seems to hear a teenager in 2009 talking about tubes! I used to rebuild brand new Fender amps (back in the late 60s and early 70s) to make them sound better than they did out of factory. Mostly, we replaced the output transformer with a much larger one and replaced the 12AX7 preamp tubes with low-noise 7025s. It was a great way for a high school kid to make a buck. My younger brother went on to develop Fender's first switching transistor amp with a tube sound!
Dont you EVER get into booze or drugs boy!! Im a sesoned player and some people got it and some dont. You son............You get it and youve got it. Watch out for the "bad" people that will try and steal your gifts away. Start hanging with Paul Gilbert as you two would have a blast. My name is Carl myspace "dirtyside" Im into tone and the blues. keep it up....Later!
thanks Nick! gotta say that that riff is gorgeous to say the least. it's rocking in my mind since the first time i heard it. i must admit i didn't know you before, but if that's your music, well, what am i waiting for, i'm gonna get your albums right now! cheers!
That's an original Riff from one of the songs currently being recorded for the 3rd album. -There will be some studio update videos on the Myspace and here coming in the next week or so...

What's cool about this kid is he's not just some totally generic 80's ripoff like I see a lot of dudes his age being.
You can tell he has a lot of modern influences in his music as well as classic.
japetus 3 years ago
Also, he doesn't just shred, or do one style well, he can play any style amazingly.
