@KononaBlackninja No offense, mate, but I won't worry about it since it's so confusing since the games are overlaping each other. Since Halo Wars suppose to be first, next Reach, then Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3: ODST, and finally Halo 3. After it, Halo 4. That would made more sense, huh?

I think it takes place between Halo 2 and Halo 3 cuz the prophet is still alive so it cant be durring or after 3 and their were Brutes in ODST and Brutes didnt show up till Halo 2 so it cant be between Halo 1 and 2 so my best bet is that ODST took place between Halo 2 and 3

@MrIhatemylife ODST was placed before Halo 3 but after Halo 2...it was a good few hours before the Chief dropped down to earth after he was on the Covenants ship at the end of Halo 2, i hope this answered your question ^_^

@MKShadowX this is not entirely true, halo 3 and odst are playing mostly at the same time cause if you play dutch you will see the big teleport ring up to space collapse, at the same moment Master chief is at the collapsing teleport ring. Also mombasa gets destroyed at the end of odst, while master chief still enters the city when the flood is there. So the timeline can be a little confusing sometimes :)

look this was set befor halo three... between 2 and three because if you look at the bit where you are dropping to earth.. look at the slipspace rupture.. you will see the covonant carrier and just to the right of it you can see amber clad (the ship that went through it to get to the 5th halo, where halo 2 was set) so its pretty much like the ODST's point of halo2... but sadly no glimpse of the cheif down their

I think what you're trying to say is that 2, 3 and 3:ODST can't match up in terms of how incredibly epic the first game was. It's not that the other games suck it's that they didn't start the story, just continued it and though they are just as good NO Sequel has ever been able to capture the awe that the first one instilled on people who played it. Not only that when it first came out it was a breath taking and massive game. That about what you wanted to say Damion?
