For those of us who identify as "mormon" whether LDS, Coc, or other Restoration Chuches, this temple is amazing to view and hopefully to visit before being consecrated. As a believer in the CoC Church, our Temple is different, but both (indeed all) are sacred in different ways. They all deserve reverence and respect.
this is right down the street from my house and no offence, but not a fan of this gigantic thing. the one in independence is also visible from like 25 miles away....why do these temples have to be almost novelty size? Just an opinion. nothing more.
@MissouriGuerrilla Is it just the size or is it the architecture maybe? Most temples on the east coast are small, but because of the importance of the area of Independence, Missouri to sects in Mormonism, any temple built there would have to be of significant size. Sorry for it though. People in Independence have been contending with Mormons for over a hundred years.
@Bananianiown Well, when compared to the RLDS temple in Independence, this one is TINY. To get a ball -park figure the Moroni statue is 12 feet tall, so it's still huge. Also, the more I drive by, the more this building is growing on me. I plan on attending the open house in 2012 to really check it out.
@MissouriGuerrilla You should, it's a great experience. Even if you're a nonmember, temples are nice to visit because of the serene atmosphere (much like at a spa or Buddhist temple). I live in the Phoenix Arizona area, and I can't wait for the Phoenix Temple to be constructed just so I can go read in the meticulously conserved temple garden.
