I usually try to make my own stuff up as well.. And I was thinking I should just try to learn a song from start to finish and maybe that would help me out in my own writing.. Any suggestions on some easier songs to learn?
Wow man I thought you took lessons this whole time! Do you have any pointers for trying to self teach? I feel like I've hit a wall and I'm learning nothing on my own anymore.. And it seems like all songs I try to learn are to tough.. What would be some easy Metal songs to learn? Maybe stuff you learned on?
try different songs to learn. I usually just play guitar and fiddle around making up riffs. that helps. but you basically have to try new songs that make you try new techniques and harder notes, etc. that helps alot

haha yeah i am having a good time, that's the point hahah jj no i didnt take lessons. just all self taught playing by ear.
