  • Right!!

Let's get things cleared up on the Cossie.

It's a well know member of the Nottingham RSOC who I know very well and iv been out in the car a couple of times and boy does it handle and go well and the driver is a gd driver, car has now moved on but still lives in Nottingham. The spec at that time would of been roughly as follows:

2wd Sapphire Cosworth in crystal blue.

    350-400bhp mapped by MAD.

Coilovers full poly bush setup, adjustable bottom arms.

Upgraded 4 pot front brakes, bells and r

  • @JamesRScos Thanks for the info! I always thought it must be over 300bhp. I do recall a thread on passionford about the trackday and I'm sure someone posted about the car at the time.

  • that cossy looks and goes like a standard cossy very unlikely its modified.notice the scooby and evo overtaking without much effort.

  • @turbocemal standard "cossyies" don't go that fast, they're slow by today's standard! this pulls away nicely at higher speeds so must be in the region of 300bhp. The EVO and the Subaru were full on trackcars with BIG power.

  • @cw205mi16 300bhp!!? and a 160bhp 205 is on its tail......iiiirrr no offence but i dont think so.yes the cossys is heavier but still 300bhp is enough power to leave a turbo pug in the dust.the pug was obviously ur pride and joy but cant RUNAWAY from facts mate.

  • @turbocemal @cw205mi16 We can obviously argue about it until the cows come home, but a standard sapphire cosworth is not quick - what were they 200bhp?, it's the way it pulls away at high speeds which shows the speed difference and demonstrates the power it has. It would also outrun a mates AUDI S4 until it hit the limiter & ran out of gears - we were both surprised at that. It also never felt slow after driving my 320bhp M Coupe either.

  • @cw205mi16 well in thet case your pug must have more than 160bhp.dont get me wrong but it just doesnt ad up.i have driven my mates cossy which was bog standard after getting out of my e39 m5 with 417bhp the old ford was surprisingly fast

  • iv had both,205gti not as fast but way better to drive!

  • I am a Ford man but I deeply respect the 205 (you have to be pretty ignorant not to). Great video, what kind of bhp were you getting out of the Mi16 at the time?

  • @petrolhead1977 It's the 1.9 16v engine, around 155-160bhp. I don't have the car anymore though - sold it last year after 12 years of ownership!

  • @cw205mi16 That must have been tough seeing that go after all those years. I have a Mk2 Escort, bit less power and a bit more weight than yours (see my vids). I have owned her for 15 years now and it would kill me to sell her. Have you got a suitable replacement for the 205?

  • People need to remember the RWD sapphire is abit shoddy in some ways but still a brilliant car. The 4x4 is great though. The 205 is a great handling little car no dennying it, but the cosworth was always the most head turning and most sucessful car out of the 2, and petrol heads appreciated them more.

  • really enjoyed watching that, some nice pics o the cossie in the corners getting a wee bit excited lol

  • Hooray! You got him at the end! Obv he let you through but his crap corner entry and exit (may have had shot tyres) compared to your smooth lines (in the last couple of laps) gave you the right of road.

Bet you're relieved he paid attention and stepped aside instead of trying to drive faster and ended up spinning.

Upload another, I really enjoyed that.

  • Pug keeps up with cossie..headline news! Give me the coz anyday.

  • if its a rsoc show why the hell are you in a pug? cosworths will always be better then little pugs

  • @Spoonerqwerty Because a lot of Ford RS owners are polishers so they never fill the slots with Fords on track

  • yep cossie rules but big respect to the chaser.iam buying a saph cossie tmoz 410 bhp.ride it

  • @thesunshines what you winging on about bet your one of those sad fuckers who go how dare you slag the cossie off. Anyone knows the rwd saph is the shittest outta the lot it scrapes its arse on the floor when you floor it the 4wd one though that's different it was good enough for ford to use the chassis and 4wd transmission for the escort cosworth

  • Cool vid,put that saph on a tight country road and the pug would be gone in a few corners. Plus loved the way the red Evo and white scooby turned up and smoked the cossies with ease.

  • @v1wrc i love it how you are the stereo typical cosworth hater! the car was made in 1988/1989, the evo and scooby were made in he millenium. Cosworth is one of the most tuneable engines ever produced, its muppets like you have no clue, any petrol head can appreciate them, just the same as i appreciate a scooby or evo. you goon

  • the rwd cosworths do get a bit tail happy

  • @cosworthsaresexy it was a 4x4 I think, it just had a lot of power! hehe

  • ive got a 205 1.9 gti, so im a 205 man at heart...but that cossie was wild. pleasure to watch.

  • very god driving ! the cosworth have more but also is more heavy! so is normal he pul away on the straights. and the 205 is the oposite side only have abot 800 kg! so conery is faster! Very god driving !

  • what was done to your 205? does it have black comp mo's by any chance?

  • Imo id say that saph is stage 1 and running about 250bhp,,saphs handle horrible,205s are one of the best handling fwd cars ever made. Fwd is for kiddies and lowlifes anyway!boost and rwd FTW

  • @cossiecal It's running more near 300bhp, a 250bhp Sierra wouldn't pull away that convincingly on the straights.

  • Those Cosworths smoke more than a 60's Pool room.

  • 1:57 very nice turn. the cosworth got a bit squirrelish there

  • beautiful!

  • beautiful!

  • cavolo è velocissimo

  • The back of that Cosworth is tramping around like hell. 205 has it clean through the corners and under brakes. Lovely bit of kit!

  • loving the siera drifts, good vid, just about to buy a track toy with my mate, cant wait to get out there.

  • you guys are good i will give you that tyres , what tyres ? lOl the way you guys are driving you will need a spare set lol great driving =]

  • love cossys and the 205 mi16 or the 1.6/1.9gti :D

  • ahh good old cozzie spittin out some flames

  • that cossy only had you on the straights

  • shit gear changin in the 205

  • i put an mi16 in my gti when i was 17 epic car ! the cossie driver is slack my scooby would kill that and thats my second car

  • I think you changed up to top gear too soon sometimes. Get it screaming they love to rev those Mi 16's

  • rings arent on there way out.that happens with every tuned turbo car when its hot

  • 4x4 every time love cossies but not keen on 2wd good fun but cant get power down as good

  • i donno why people are rating the cossie driver, he is kinda useless. looks like his rings are on their way out. Cossies are fun tho, esp the escort.

    Big up the MI16 !!

  • boyh are really slow laping slower than most class d (upto1600cc) cars from the nsscc

  • LOL, but this was a trackday for road cars and non race drivers. Also, are these "class D" cars used as everyday cars with full interior trim, carpets, less than ideal geometry for track etc?

  • @whitemetro99

You have to be some kind real stupid moron to compare nsscc to a track day with road cars.

Seriously, you are the twat at car crusies people laugh at because they talk so much shit.

  • @Jamerio3D ive raced cars in the nsscc and every other saloon and sports car championship in the uk coming 3rd 2 weeks ago in the dmn at mallory in a escort cosworth ive done more laps around croft on track days and races than you have had pussy come and see me at any nsscc round car 97 and tell me to my face big man

  • Great vid,

  • Good Vid on a trackday of cars actually racing.

  • Sierra let you past tho :)

  • bloody quick this pug its up the saffs chuffer

  • cozzy twats it on the straights

  • i bet that saph isnt even 300 brake lol

  • Evo VI ftw @ 4:50

  • Cossie owner is struggling to keep it on the road i am loving the pug though that thing is quick and sticks to the road .

  • So whats the spec of the Sapph? Id guess 803's and T34??? 23-25 psi boost?? Stage 3 in other words.

Thats gonna make it 330 ish bhp.

2wd Sapphs are a handful on bends but are plenty fun, as in the video. I love them, thats why Im on to my 4th one. I do know that a feisty little 205 MI16 would torture it in the twisties and give it a good run out of the bends too. The Cossie would only leave it up at higher speeds.

Maybe one day Ill own an MI16 205 too and be a happy man. LOL

  • both cars look very well driven, cosy rules for me though.

  • Cosworth sounds good of course. Don't like the MI16 but it's driven well

  • LOVE this video!!

  • Two top drivers,Excellent!!

  • HAHA nice video!!!

    sierra is faster!!!!

    ford sierra 4ever!!!!!

  • hehe - would be kind of embarrassing if it wasn´t :D

    160 bhp against 270 - 300?

  • ain't it 162kW or 220hp ?

  • yeah standard i think it is. In the earlier comments the uploader of this video, mentioned that it was modified - can´t remember exactly how much it has, but you could take a look see :)

  • =) oh, ok. was too lazy to look thru all the comments.

  • As far as I can see the sierra is RWD which means it's 204 hp standard. BTW, the 205 is also modified - there's no 205 mi 16.

    Both cars are great :)

  • fucking bang on

  • Yr Mi16 engine sounds sweet. Nice drive.

  • La 205 est obligée de prendre l aspiration sinon elle a pas assez de puissance pour doubler cette magnifique voiture qui est la Ford Sierra Cosworth

  • very nice video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Peugeot was a very patient & excellent driver. Drafting began at 8:07 XD. Great vid mate no annoying music. Rated 5 stars

  • Those dueling cars passed the Escort MKII like it was standing still ;D

  • cant beat the old 205's i had a turbo technics last and an mi16 before that i would like another but i sold the tt to buy a bike, they are super cool and its easy to show people up in the corners. top vid

  • lmao, that saph is an evil handling beast, plenty of power, but its sliding in the corners.s'what rwd is all about :D

  • excellent vid and the best thing is you didnt dub stupid music over the top of it.people want to hear the cars not music.well done.

  • belle bourre

  • well done the 205 driver for keeping the non-standard Cossie in your sights...love RWD but Peugeot got it spot on with the 205

  • that was a fuckin mint video, do you know person driving the cossie?

  • hi, thanks! - no I think I posted it on the Passionford forum and I think people knew who he was but not sure if he actually saw it.

  • Nice vid one of best ive seen. Thinking about going on a track day. Can you tell me the life span of tyres when driving in your vid. As I dont wont to drive home on baldy tyres. Thanks

  • Not too bad on a 205, although the wear on the front left shoulder is pretty bad if you run standard camber (as I was). Wear rate is worse if the tyres are new as they overheat, so I always used tyres that were more than half worn but tended to take spares to get me home incase.

  • Thanks yeah I think I'll take 2 spares for the front. Ive only got a stand 206 gti on

16's. But should hav a bit of fun chuckin it about.

  • best movie ever!!

  • Quality, a Scooby and an Evo just cruise on past about 4 mins in the vid, with the Evo eventually getting in front, so it beat a Scooby, a pug 205, a Saphirre Cossie and a 2 door Sierra. Some motor. Great to see an older Ford still kicking ass tho!

  • Yea the EVO was properly fast track car (not standard) - the Impreza was a stripped out track car too but nowhere near as quick though as you can see it in the distance for most of the rest of the video, it just shows how much difference 4WD makes out of a very tight hairpin!!

  • great cars, prefer the 205 tho

  • Pug driver does well... typical cossie, turbo smoking like a chimney, god I love em!!!!

  • pug prob could of had he but hes not a good enuf driver

  • Great video. Would have thought that the turbo-charged cossie would have the measure on the pug down the straights, despite being a fair bit heavier, but I'm pleasantly surprised.

Was considering getting a 205gti myself, but here in Aus the 1.9 only had 75kW, and the MI16 engines are hard to come by. Instead i got a 306gti6.

  • une sierra sa marche mai la 25envoi ossi pa mal bn ne comparon pa se ki nai pa comparable...

  • Si la sierra serait vraiment meilleure...elle devrait pas se faire tenir par une simple 205 mi16...traction en plus...

  • But they are just amatuer drivers having fun deancarr10 a few of the early lines were reasonable, but you no what its like when your racing your hearts going double time and thats when concentration becomes harder.

Anyway any bank jobs going in the south of england il be your driver ;)

For picture say me ;)

  • GOOD VIDEO THAT !!

  • the lines could have been better for both drivers. and the guy in the cossy keeps getting the tail out and not using all of the road. both cars could have been driven alot faster.

  • Its still good to watch though

  • mi-16 205's are fucking stonking things, the really are a working mans ferrari! 170 bhp standard in a 750kg shell ffs, thats a power to weight ratio that in my experience is too fast for most roads. my friend has one raced it at crail in scotland and he would devour 5 litre beemers in it, and the car cost him no more than 1500 to complete the project, the beemer costs about 65k lol between mi16 205 and the g60 mk1 golf i dunno whats the most insane lol

  • great cars great driving but u can see clearly the ford leaves the pug in a stight line but round corners that pugs all over that cossies ass lol

    awsome clip :)

  • I have owned both car previously not just a 1.9 8V Pug gti but the Mi16. The power to weight in the pug is probably quite similar to the cossie. I have to say that a light nimble car like the pug can suprise many cars in the twisties. The cossie was well driven as the driver was hitting the apexs and taking the right lines. Agreed regarding the Evo's they are very quick cars.A top video guys. Good work.

  • Great driving, although I doubt you'd have kept up if the Cossie driver could drive ...

  • agreed, cossie has a far bigger engine but the 205 has about 50% of the weight and its only carrying a 2L 16v.

ok the cossie has all that power, but where is it? you cant see it really. id rather the 205, because its raw power and no weight, kinda like a motorbike lol, cossie has to have that big motherfucker of an engine to get it to do that, id rather the lotus approach and say...its too fucking heavy

  • Oh ... with a 2l engine it's a different story altogether. I suppose I assumed the Pug was packing a 1.6i.

  • Lol you fruitcake they're both 2 litre engines!

  • 1.9L PLEASE (enfin il y a plus de 1.9L que de 2.0L alors on dit que c'est un 1.9L)

  • 205 has him nailed on the twisty bits

  • that bloke has jus gone down sainsburys got aload of shopping picked the kids up from school taken nan and grandad down the coast and now hes beating a pug round a race track im not slaggin the pug of but its a cossie 4 me

  • Are you sure it was Sainsbury's and not Asda? It also looks like he stopped off for some fags too by the way it's smoking. Anyway,I'm sure the 205 could do all those things and I'm not trying to say one's better than the other! :D

  • how old is that french thing??

  • The "French Thing" is an 88 F-plate - same as the Sierra.

  • The most impressive "standard 205 mi16" in UK. You have a great car Chris

  • How high do you rev that 205 ???

  • It's to about 7000rpm I think (the limiter is around 7200rpm).

  • up the 205 gti

  • pjagg007 , are you for f****** real or what , obviously never been in a sierra cosworth , when you know what your talking about then post a comment !

  • 880kg/160hp =)

  • nice video..im thinking of taking my focus st round there on 20th oct

  • Love the video .. the cozzie is one of my all time fav's

  • re the sierra ..the way those evos went past it there aint much modding going on under the bonnet and it handled like an old transit van....smoked like one as well

  • There was only one EVO.But yea they were quick (the Orange EVO very, the white Impreza not hugely quicker in a straightline). But if there's ever a corner where the 4WD of an EVO/Impreza can really show it's superiority, it's coming out of the hairpin at Croft (Impreza was alongside me round the hairpin).

  • gotta remember evos are a lot different to the scoobys evos 4wd system way better than the scooby symetrical

  • What a shame to see most of the commenters be such dumbfucks, don't You know how darn fast those 205's are? No matter if it is FWD, on small windy road those beat Ferraris, atleast when it comes to Jeremy Clarkson :P Put Mi16 engine, 309 rear-axle and good dampers, maybe a turbo and theres not many cars that could beat 205. Unless they are like worth 10x the 205 is xD

  • man thats one sick hatch but the Cossie is the best man XD Love cossies. Shuv a T16 in there man!

  • Good driving by all on there. I loved it.

  • Tasty race. No doubt the Pug is an efficient tool for the job but the guy in the Cossie must have been having the most fun

  • Wow! The cossie driver is trying hard, you can tell by the car's attitude through the bends, he probably could go faster, but the large turbo makes it very difficult to modulate the power.

The 205 is also trying hard, as on the longer straights, you can hear the engine is close to the rev limit.

I have driven a high power saph, and also have owned 205's in various states of tune., so I know what I am on about!

For me a well turned out 205 wins every time!

  • gotta love the cosworth. and the subaru and evo are nice. you car is quick!

  • chuck sum twin 45 webbs on and u will kill it? as i have

  • very nice. what a great race to watch.

  • Brilliant!! Must have been a little frustrating as he had a little more on the straights but on the bends the ford was OWNED!!

  • i hate swearing but that was a fucking enjoyable race to watch. The driver of the cossie had some good drifts going on.

    That 205 is well repected

    nice 1

  • im guessing he has a anti lag. plus DSM are more known for burning oil not fords.

  • testament to the mi16- engine from a great pug era in arguably the best pug classic 205---just add the t!!!

and 4wd!! what were the beasts from the east running btw..fook me...!

  • That cossy was a bit smoky. probably runnin a bit rich.

That 205 is rapid keeping up with that cossy though

  • Nice driving, cossie driver as well. just out of interest I owned the first ever UK Dimma built by Skip Brown with a S16 Conversion on twin carbs. Monster.

  • Good driving 'CW' glad to see your vids still creating controversey on the 'tinternet.

  • whys the cossie engine smoking?

  • over fueled?

  • Plus it needs remapping, and of course being a ford, its burning oil! LOL!

  • But still kicking ass and taking names. :)

  • I know the Cossie and the driver.... It's around the 400bhp mark and it was it's first outing with new coil over suspension and he was playing around with it all day. It was also over fuelling quite bad too. The 205 was going really well and perhaps in a race may have done him on a couple of the corners but down the straights he was leaving the 205. Perhaps if the Cossie was in race trim you may have seen how quick this car really is. It is a road car used daily.

  • does the cossie have a flamer kit on it? or is it cos its runnin 2 rich?

  • you can get flames spitting because of pure power =]

  • Nice vid!

  • Nice vid... Both good drivers. Don't underestimate a 205 mi16. I had 2 309gti-16's (same engine) and that's an amazing fast car. I'm sure this Cossie must be modified to stay ahead. I like Cossies too by the way ;)

  • that cossie needed to get out of your way so you could crack on..if you got passed him he would not of kept up with you..

  • Flame spitting. Nice!!!

    The eighties are back.

The MI sound twin choke carbs... Great little machine!

  • Great Video.. love the cossie twitchin about driver does well to control that. Pug does well to keep up! The Evo and Scooby fly past them love to take my st205 gt4 to croft.

  • cossie rules. the tiny little pug is strugglin to keep up. if it bin me id a quit tryin to pass it.

  • The cossie has worn out suspension, look how it floats about.

  • very cool vid

  • Power/weight ratio has a lot to do with it here. Lets just say it's two drivers of quick cars who know how to have fun, and its great to watch. Anyway i hate these videos because now i want a 205 gti.

Any by god that 205 sounds good, second only to an s2000 ;)

  • It's a standard Mi16, running full trim and worn road tyres. The Cosworth NEEDS to be modified to stay ahead.

  • right chappies, 205 pug wi the mi6 [could be on boddies] probably stripped and cadged and running sticky tyres and the same weight as a buiscut tin, this car is extemly quick, but would have needed a roket welded in to PASS the saff, 'COSWORTH'long live the king 'D'

  • Good video!

    Can't beat a good chase.

Funny to see the Cossie wobbling around them corners.

  • Are those the same minis that are built for racing, will hit 60 in about 3.5seconds and run full slicks...?

  • wot eva power these cars have they are still pritty slow thoughout the lap a miglia mini with 130bhp will lap croft in 1.34 these are doing it in about 1.50 16 seconds of the pace keep your power it means nothing

  • it aint all bad rocksteadydave! i had a 205 for my first car all be it a 1.4, after that i wanted a GTi! so when 1 years no claims came round i got it and insurance was same as the 1.4, with the 1 years no claims!! TPFT though. Great cars so much fun, be prepared to get your hands dirty though.

  • only one problem with fords.... and its just that... the name- FORD. They are rubbish cars. The original design is put in front of the accountants, and every part on the car is evaluated to see if they can shave off a few pence costs, by replacing it with a cheaper alternative. Result- shit cars.

  • im a cos fan , been in a few round donnigton and castle coombe ,pug's got a good power to weight ratio , with a mi16 engine in it must go like stink , revvy engine . 2wd saffs bit of a monster to drive on a track!both good drivers , respect!

  • majority of racecars are RWD this is the best set up for a race car fro a race track

whether it be rwd or not, who cares, a standard saff cossie is no race car even if it is rwd

  • a 330bhp cossie would leave a 165 mi 16 engined 205 for dust, i would say the cossie is proably stage1 260-270ish

  • I agree a 270bhp Sapphire would be quick but it wouldn't be lunging away like that on the straights when it gets on boost. Apparently it's T34 MAD conversion on greys whatever that equates to.

  • Are you all born Gay the cossie is nailing him but have you ever tried steering a Cossie round bends?? Oviously not cos they dont like it lol

  • Thats what around 350bhp does for you, but overall after each lap there it still is. If it was a standard one the video wouldn't have lasted so long.

  • erm you must be cus anyone knows a rwd car will go round a corner much better than a fwd!

  • Erm yea looked that way on vid with the cossies rear end trying to meet th Bonnet!! Muppett
