  • simply incredible. thank you for sharing. =)

  • i am a captain and a manager of a local softball league and if the same situation happens in our game, we will do the same , keeping quiet and hpe for a lucky win would be the greater disgrace and i am sure the team will be boycotted in any league series ..hurray for the fielders , this is their win ..

  • You missed all the footage. Dummys

  • wow. i can't believe anyone would actually step up and offer to do that. well if i had thought of that i know i would have, it being her first ever homer. how exciting! its so sad that that ended her softball career though..

  • the mean teams we play would NEVER DO THAT...they trow gum at us cause we are the worst in the leage

  • That brought tears to my eyes, that is what sports should be about....I am not surprised it came from some young female softball players:)

  • Awhh.Kudos To Them.Lmao.

  • You guys rock... I hope my girls would do the same. I am sure they would! I heard your story at my kids jr. national honor society meeting. The principal talked about you all. You are about what it is about!!! Thank you, even I forget sometimes

  • brought tears to my eyes..

  • thats why women shouldnt play baseball

  • @nearzy111 No doubt.

  • @nearzy111 IT IS NOT BASEBALL IT IS CALLED SOFTBALL GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!!!

  • @nearzy111 baseball isn't even a sport so no one cares.

  • yeah this is a good video i rmb i was hitting a ball then was high ball but not home run then i was running needed slide then i slide then the oppenent help me up

  • That is very good sportsmanship :)

  • nice display of sportmanship!

  • that was the nicest thing i've seen in sportsmanship!

    great job!!!! <3

  • Wow, I have never seen better sportsnamship than this before. Sometimes it is not how you play the game or if you win or lose, it is how the game is played. This is an example of true sportsmanship and the way the game should be played. Congratulations to the hitter and the opposing team to help her touch the bases. Why are their negative comments on here? What a story this is.

  • @joeyabbs77 // all i have to say to u is its harder than baseball wich u prob cant even play/// and unless u play u cnt say its garbage okayy

  • @joeyabs77 If you dont play softball you cant really say its a joke.

  • I dont understand why they had to carry her?

  • @wallygillis she tore her acl and couldn't run around the bases. If someone from her team touched her she would be out.

  • That is no sportmanship thats character way to go liz wallace and Mallory Hollman

  • thats nice of them

  • thats amazing.. n to all those people who coment and think they r better than everyone else. shame on u.

  • lol, they keep on clapping

  • okay kanin07 & jasonreiffer11 you guys have serious issues. yeah, winning and talent is important in softball, but so is character, atttitude, and sportsmanship. because anyone can spend hours and hours practicing and becoming good, but it takes real heart to have a great attitude and sportsmenship when things arent going your way. thats what really tests you, not your talent. oh and about that whole baseball thing how you left him stranded there... yeah thats a great way to win(:..

  • im glad they did tht it shows tht even tht ur opponents and total stranger u can be freinds and help each other out

  • Way to go Central Washington!

We don't see enough of that kind of thing anymore!

    I will tell this story!

    So AWESOME!

  • i just tore A Ligament in my knee 2 weeks ago. im doin ok

  • thats sportsmanship right there

  • wow. for a softball player, i would be DEVISTATED if my career ended. what great sportsmanship. thats one of the attributes u have to have as a softball player.

  • This story is so inspiring and touching. No one in my softball league would ever do this!

  • ya i play in SVGSA and everyone is a jerk! and they cheat all the time!

  • ive seen this vid befor and as a softball player, respect the other team for doing that knowing that if they did, they would lose. that took a lot of charecter and shows what an amazing eprsonality they have.

  • What girls that happened in my baseball league and we left the the guy stranded

  • A class act!

  • That is excellent!

  • now thats sportsman ship

  • @tatortits92

no that's stupid. they said here western oregon, have a run. sportsmanship is soooooooo over rated

  • Indeed.

  • i play softball for the strikers 11's

  • That was very good sportsmanship, I play softball myself and I don't think any time would do that for me, It was very beautiful!

  • this is by far THE GREATEST thing I have ever seen in my life!!! Amazing!!!

  • i have been playin for 6 years and i had help some1 thats couldnt run

  • shows great sportsmanship

  • that's beautifull

  • i play softball on temcula rush travelball and this is very touching and good sportsmanship. GO SOFTBALL!!!!!!!

  • I actually read about this in last years edition of bathroom reader...which prompted me to look up this video. Such excellent sportsmanship..but in the book it said that the ump was wrong and the rules state that since the ball went out, she didnt need to touch all the bases for the HR to count...but honestly....the world would of been deprived of one of the great acts of sportsmanship.

  • ommg, yeah people are ruudee! they have heart, and thier good sports:]

ive been playing for 11years straight, and thats awesome:]

  • how was she injured....?.....since it was a homerun, she may take her time right?

  • This is classy. Well done.

  • Beautiful! I'd heard about this. Now I'm glad I found the video.

  • good sportsmanship

  • This is such great sportsmanship!!! i play softball and this is touching!!

  • wow thats very thoughtful of the other team

  • what a beautiful moment, good for those girls from opposing team, they have character

  • good sportsmanlike conduct props to the other team most teams would let her be out

  • haha lrn2run

  • @kmart11...fool women should play softball cause theyre good at it.....same thing could happen in baseball so shut ure piehole!!!!

  • i love softball but i hate getting hit by the pitchers it doesnt happen all the time but i got hit in the ankle twice and in the throat at practice twice when we were warming up lol

  • ilove softball and this is greatsportsmanship!

  • thats why women should not play sport.

  • its not like she planned to tear a ligament you sexist punk

  • @kmart111 oh shut the hell up, this could happen to anyone, including men.

  • some people are just so ignorant at these kinds of acts of kindness and such great sportmanship people have.

  • as they say, sorry @kamrt111 but you're you're just a tool and a complete idiot. injuries happen to men and woman. i hurt my hand just four weeks ago playing hockey and ive been a player since middle school. injuries happen and the girls on the other team showed great sportmanship and heart.

  • ik this is a rlyy old vid but it nvr gets olddd. i would b luckyyy to liv up to tht kind of sportsmanshipp(:

  • I almost cried when I seen this video but then I read the comments and threw up instead. "amazing people" whippy do!!

  • im really surprised this wasnt included in ESPNS highlights of the decade..I consider this to be the number one sports highlight of the decade

  • and none of her teamates wanted to carry her..ll

  • Read the intro you noob.

  • because then she would be considered out by the umpires

  • wow. those are the reasons why i am proud to be a softball player.

  • That's amazing! Amazing people!

  • Umm, Rockthered8, Kirk didn't need any help! duh. This is about sportsmanship. Why does this remind you of that we'll never know.

  • @metmerc .....B/C Kirk had a stomach virus and injuries in both legs. He was called to pinch hit in a desperation move by the manager. He hit a Game winning home run against one of the best of ALL TIME relief pitchers using ALL upper body, and had to wobble around the bases. He wasn't supposed to play at all. And oh yeh, it was the World Series!! : ) That's why!

  • That was so sweet , i wish everybody in sports had that much class & sportsmanship

  • very good sportsmanship.

  • omg thts the nicest thing i've ever seen any other player do and i play softball

  • Im not even sure what this is all about but it made me cryy, I love it.

  • Reminds me of Kirk Gibson limping around the bases in '88

  • the one that they intervued sara made me cry..&& this video was ehh..but i still love the sportsmanship<3

  • good form. very good show of class

  • love this. Very nice. Wish there was more of this.

  • do you know how it feels to have a torn acl?no, so you wouldnt know how bad it hurts

  • sportsmanship =yes

    real baseball player =not sara

  • we had to write a stupid essay about this....sigh

  • @yosu79 The video isn't about the injured player, it's about the sportsmanship of the other team.

  • tell me bout it

  • that was so nice of them

  • thank god baseball players don't do this after they hit a homer run.

  • this could happen to anyone dipwad

  • @chipawausmybaby so it's just showing how people should be nice and not a complete ass and help people that arn't on there team.

  • this video rocks this is ultimate sportsmanship

  • and this is why girls shouldnt play sports

  • lol, fo real.

  • shut up

  • ur a jerk

  • Well, I'm not a baseball fan by any means but that was really cool. The fact Danica Patrick looked visibly annoyed about losing an ESPY to that makes me wanna give Gillooly a call. HAHAHA No comparison.

  • what that other team did was dope!! im glad there are still people around with good sportsmanship

  • so am i this is the best type of portmanship there is.

  • hell ya thats my college right there!

  • SO SWEET!<3

  • wheres the sportsmanship ...

  • i lovee that video!! so sweet!

  • that is amazing

  • this is an awesome video. This is defiantly what softball is about!!!(:

  • your absolutely right ... softball is a boring game

  • stop being rude

  • Congratulations to Sara, and Kudos to Mallory Holtman and Liz Wallace for stepping up to display true character by doing the right & decent thing, despite the outcome! You not only won the good sportsmanship "Best Moment" ESPY for 2008 ~ you taught a Great Life Lesson to the World! THANK YOU!

  • awesome..great sportsmanship...good job ladies!

  • read the discription, that umpire is a jerk, and the opposing team is awesome

  • the umpire isn't a jerk, it's the rules. as much as he would like to have let her teammates help her, it's cheating. he goes by the rules like he is required to do.

  • that is amazing!

thanks for making this sport look even better than it all ready is! :)

    softball for life!

  • this is what softball is all about its team work!!

that was amazing thanks for showing the sport well!

  • Thats what you call good sportsman ship

  • working on a textbook for ave maria press, and we put this story in the book as an example of putting others first.

  • amazing!

  • The best part of this video is the way the two girls just go back to their team...they're not congratulating themselves for being good sports, they're not asking for recognition- they just did it. Awesome.

  • and THAT is what softball is all about :)

  • i so heard about thiss storyy on a website so touhing i play softball n tht was a rllly rlly good hit lmao!

  • thats nice:)

    sotball 4 life!

  • at least she ended on a good note of a HR

  • That is great! Very touching display!!!

  • wow im lost of words on that one ,, thats really great that someone would do that for someone else i dont see very much of this kind of stuff in life and would love to see more,,, awesome

  • awesome!

  • awesome people i wish more people in this world acted like those two wemon

  • so you are all saying that if you get hurt and you are one point away from breaking a record the other team should just let you score because you were so close. Really that how sports she be played? So if i want to dunk a basketball but i cant i should expect the opposing team to let me jump off there backs to give me a boost because thats how sports should be played.

  • dude u werent in her position lighten up geez alotta haters everywhere

  • got that right

  • sometimes that happens in the name of sports. when cal ripken broke Gehrig's game streak, President Clinton was is the broadcast booth with the sportscasters for Ripken's Home Run. You think Ripken hit that homer right then at that lucky moment from total baseball skill, or do you think that day the Angels were going a little easy on him considering the gravity of the record he was breaking that day? I'd like to think the angels wanted to see some awesome stats attached to that game.

  • no u idiot, its called good, actually great, sportsmanship and not being a complete ass and helping out injured players even if they're not on ur team

  • I'm surprised the audience clapped so quietly. i've seen more excitement and louder applause from the audience in a dog show event. i'm also shocked that as significant as this was, everyone went their way like nothing big actually just happened. Has sportsmanship really deteriorated this badly?!

    Wow.

  • Mohmog, you are an idiot. First of all its a small softball college, meaning there are maybe 50 people there, obviously it's not going to be that loud. Second, it was the act of carrying her around the base that showed sportsmanship, who cares what they did afterwords. If anything, it shows more sportsmanship that they acted like it was just the right thing to do.

  • No he has a point, sportsmanship really has deteriorated quite a bit. The fact that this was blown off so much at the game is just incredible to me, I mean, sure only 50 people, but my Highschool baseball games get louder than that.

  • That's awesome, that's how sports should be played. And for ncbastian. It all depends on how badly you tear it. It is only torn a little, then you can usually still walk. Hence why they just throw a knee brace on you. BUT if you rip it all the way, then you have no support and there is NO WAY you can walk on it. So shut it, I ripped my acl and pcl on different times, my acl was half(was able to hobble around) and my pcl was full.. put it this way, my knee bent back the wrong way. so no walking!!

  • HAHHAHA

  • boo

  • I did this but dislocated my knee as i swung....I was called out.

  • nice

  • Yes this good hearted but come on, seriously! I have torn both of my ACLs playing college football and basketball and both time i was able to walk off and drive myself to the doctors days later. Yes it hurts, but honestly how do you blow out a knee running bases on a homerun and second all you have to do is walk, crawl or even roll around the bases after a homerun. She should have been able to do either of those things. I am not trying to be sexist but this is why nobody respects the wnba!

  • excuse me but i tore my acl last year and my lower leg below my knee was sticking out sidways, there is no way i could have walked after that, im not saying that thats what happened to her, but there is a good chance that walking was out of the question for her

  • You're not trying to be sexist but guess what? You're being sexist! Yay, go you, you win the sexist prize for the evening.

  • haha youre stupid dude. if you cant read, it said it ended her career. if those knee injuries ended your career you wouldnt have been walking so quit actin like a hardass

  • thankyou GodlyVayne for informing these idiots that cant read and putting them in their place

  • The rules say YOUR teammates or coaches can not assist you but they DO NOT say that the opposing team can't assist you. Those were 2 players from the OTHER TEAM carrying her.

  • that is true sportsmanship right there. they carried her around the bases because she deserved it. This is how sports should be played

  • that really touches my heart for those girls to have enough sportsmanship to do that; the other team knows that if they were in that position then they would wont them to do the same. and for all of you that think this was wrong have absolutely no heart for this girl that will never be able to play again.

  • i thought it showed very good sportsmanship...... u will hardly ever see dis in games..... dat shows some players and teams actually have a heart.....i tip my hat to dem cuz imma softball player too and if dat happened to an opposin teams player i woulda dont da same thing cuz no matter wut she actually hit dat homerun and she deserved to get counted for it

  • WOW this is just amazing! I think that, that's great but it also sucks cuz she cant play softball anymore :(.... well way to end it with a HOMERUN!!!!!!!!!!! :D

  • i would have said tough luck...its a rule for a reason so im guessing its not the first time this has happened....just win!!!! no really it tickled my heart

  • nice

  • amazing sportsmanship

  • that's brilliant sportsmanship,which is missing these day's

  • If you understood the rules you would know how ridiculous this is. Why did the guys in blue let them carry her?

  • because its being a good sport you dumbass

  • because there aren't any rules against it, duh, and they're called umpires

  • Great sportsmanship.

  • that was really cool of the other team, woulda been funny if the other team just dropped her right before she got to home lmao

  • If she is in pain..uhmm why go around the bases. Try to get her to help as soon as possible lol. Not very smart.

  • shibz10 you are also a piece of crap.

  • jaraha....you are a joke! You probably don't have one athletic bone in your body.....idiot!

  • It should be noted that the umpires' ruling here is incorrect. A homerun is a special case - yes, all four bases have to be touched, but there is no rule stating the player who hit it must do it. A pinch-runner CAN be subbed in to finish out the home run without penalty or danger of being thrown out. The umpiring crew blew it, which makes it even better that the opposing team did this for the girl.

  • actually no they cannot switch in the middle of a play

  • and that is why it won an ESPY good on ya girls!!!

  • props to both teams.

  • She suffered a career ending injury while trying to round first?

In this video: why girls shouldn't play sports...

  • o really then y do i play 3 sports and i never got injured your just jealous that girls get to play sports too!!

  • u ppl r so fricken rude!!!

  • Why you dont bet money on womens sports.

  • girls suck. they cant even run around the bases right without hurting someone.

    down with the females
