can u do a tutorial how to undo the motor and do u have to use the cleaning thing that takes out the water for the dry method ??????????????????? help please
Awesome tutorial. I've been going brushless lately, but I have an old brushed motor from my Rustler and it has turned to absolute crap power-wise lately, since I've been cleaning it with compressed air. I didn't realize I'm supposed to re-oil it. I used to run nitro so I don't know much about electric motors. Thanks so much!
2 questions. Could I use wd40 as a lubricant? And second could I just take the motor out if my car and put it in the water and run it at a low speed with stock batt?
This is a load of crap. Water is a universal solvent and is bad for electric motors, period. You want to break it in? Use it. Use it a slow speed the first two times to allow the brushes to pattern themselves to the commutator without overheating. That's it. Heat, water and dirt are motor killers. As far as oiling a motor with bushings, good luck. The tolerances between motor shaft and bushings are too tight for an adequate amount of oil to get in there. When the clearances DO open its worn.
@MrMetalica11 I think that the 775 motor has more tourqe rather than speed compared to the 12t titan but 12t titan is not good if you need a new motor get the team orion formula pro bb because you can replace the brushes, has ball bearings last way longer. :)
I'm new to the R/C world, and appreciate your videos. They're all very helpful. Thanks! Traxxas only endorses breaking brushed motors in by actually driving the car on a level surface at 1/2-3/4 throttle. They wouldn't endorse methods like your's. Why is that? What's the difference? I have a new Stampede that I'm giving my son for Christmas, and I'd like to use your method before giving it to him so it's ready to roll when he opens it.
I am a new RC driver as well as a owner. I want to change out my motor on my drifter rc but don't understand the wire going across the two points besides the positive and negative wires? Do I need those on my new motor? Or replace it with the same one? Looks like a resistor
So use the dry method then rinse it with water? Also is there any way to repair the windings in one of these motors? I'd like to fix the broken one that way i have two of the same motor incase this new one ever poops out on me.
What's an equivilent to the motor cleaner? I have no electric motor cleaner and wanted to know what are the chemical contents that are in that so i could find some similar household items that might work.
ive broken one motor in using the wet method let it run on very fast for like 1-2 mins oiled the bearings and now it's got a short in the windings or sumn. One wire in the windings is shorted out so i'm getting it replaced and i dont want this to happen again so i'm doing a lil more research on how to properly break my new one in
hi, there, what happen if i dont break-in first and start using rc car. and what does it means by fuel 20% or 30%. which one should i use for my rc car. how many types of fuel are there..
@rcnightmare: I'm sorry but that's simply not true. I race brushed handout motors and I use one motor every year in my F1 car and it lasts just fine and performs really well. Maybe it is best to do this but to say you will damage it and it won't last long is just incorrect.
Yeah you bet! You can take an extra step with Mod Motors (open endbell) by disassembling them to completely clean the inside. Make sure you mark the brushes and timing so it goes back together the exact same way. If your mod motor uses ball bearings instead of bushings make sure to thoroughly clean and relube them seperately.
dude that ending clip was really good. and i think BSRC should state his really name instead of his forum name (unless that his personal preference) but yeah this was a great tip that beginner people dont know about and damage their motors
LOL! Excellent! I sometimes use the water method to clean out stock, non openable, motors. Went to a club meeting without having time to work on my motor beforehand. So I connected it to my 3 cell running in pack with the motor in clubhouse the toilet!!! Hahahaha! I know plain water is not to be recommended, but what the heck? It duly turned the water black with carbon!!! Oops! Don't forget to flush!
do u have to take the motor out ???????

When you say to re-clean it after about 30 minutes of run time do you mean the whole process, or just spraying with cleaner?

If I want my motor to last as long as possible dry it every time with the drying stuff after tuning in water.

Will wd40 work instead of the electric contact cleaner stuff ad how much are the contact wires
MegaTank123456 1 month ago
@MegaTank123456 I spray mine with a teflon GT85 to clean and lube, much better than WD40. You can get it from Halrords etc.
