These workers were so silly! If they would have accepted that contract that Frys and Safeway were offering they would be paying more now. Only because the union stayed strong were the employees able to get a contract with no raises for health care. Even if what these workers were saying about only raising premiums on new hires is so selfish and so ridiculous that it makes me sick!
If all these scabs would have LISTENED to there shop steward or Union rep, they would have known there were "language issues" in the contract, meaning that the companies would continue current employee premiums "UNLESS THERE IS A SHORTFALL IN THE HEALTH AND WELFARE FUND", one hand washes the other, do your homework before you make an ass of yourself and don't know what you are talking about, YOU would have been paying about $200 per month within a year if the union would have accepted this

I personally think that this is a load of crap. The $1.55 raise that they want....ok, but bitching because you have to pay for healthcare....WTF?!?!? Oh no a whole $5 per week for singles, $10 for couples and $15 for families....this is fucking cheap as hell. At my work we pay $250 per month for healthcare and it is excellent. Maybe they should just cut their benefits?????
jparish62. I can see why you would be upset with the Fry's/Safeway workers if we STILL have no out of pocket cost for our great health care when you are paying $250/month with yours. And that is only the new hires that we were fighting for, so they would those benefits we have enjoyed as well. Thanks to UFCW99.
I work for Safeway 1255 in Tucson arizona. Our contract now is shitty and it will be shitty forever if we dont strike. if we take this contract they have offered us it will break everything the UFCW fights for. Yes its a right to work state but we can take them down! we need to stay United!
What a bunch of spineless tools. We strike now because its the best time to put pressure on the companies. If you allow Frys and Safeway to take advantage of the current economic situation you are giving into corporate greed and we are one step closer to the universal Wal-Mart.

The union said we would not vote on their current proposal because over 90% of AZ union members voted to support the UFCW99 decision to turn it down if that happens. Now, if the Fry Guys have short attention span problems, or they think that the gift card bonus added to the current proposal is worth voting for, we are in big trouble here.
I like to personally thank the a-hole with the goatee and the picket sign that was in the newspaper that started the downward spiral of our strength as a union. I do not know that Fry's or Safeway workers were allowed to have chin hair. Hmm?
