Why not!!! Ok now I have Reinhold Messner on my podium of greatest contempory adventurer and in second place Colin Angus but i need a third and I would like it if it's a WOMAN :-) Any suggestion anyone???
i like the book, the only part i didn't care for was Colin's statement at the beginning that man made global warming is "fact"----i couldn't disagree more 1. science is ever changing 2. the temp has risen 1/2 of 1 degree in 100 years 3. 30,000 scientists have disagreed with the presumption that man made global warming is occurring. sorry to burst your bubble colin! love the book.
my friend Ian and his wife are going to retire in 5 years and plan on sailing around the world in a 25 ft. sailboat. theyve been practicing by holding their heads under water.
@pabstman57 sounds like they've been planning for the wrong sailing activities. All they have to do is keep the water on the outside, themselves in the inside, and the stick in the air.
Thank's Colin and Julie. Super inspiring! I haven't drivin a car in three years, and your book has me once again pondering about biking the California coastline despite my epilepsy! Just finished Beyond the Horizon. Amazing what you have experienced. About Tim..uh, can anyone say Karma? You obviously made all the best decisions as proved by your astounding journey. I now have more books to look forward to reading by you I didn't know existed. Thank you, and thank's for keeping the planet green!
At the beginning you should have someone on deck at all times to keep an eye for other vessels. You can't expect large ships to stop or turn on a dime.
Awesome little trip. The helmets cracked me up...I guess in a sailboat the worries are on the rigging when you roll, on a rowboat YOU are the the "rigging".
You should post a warning about playing this video with headphones on. Julies scream at the beginning comes as a bit of a shocker... I almost spilled coffee all over my keyboard.
Mad props guys! I like your style a lot.

I just saw the entire video for this earlier today. I read both Amazon Extreme and Lost in Mongolia, and plan to read Beyond the Horizon.
Keep the books coming!
