  • that's fucking epic!

  • The visual effects of this show were pretty fucking amazing

  • 4 words... I FUCKING LOVE TOOL

  • the most attractive thing about tool is their odd timing signatures and contrast with bass and guitar

  • yes immersion and to lose youself in the feel of the sound been projected toward your body

  • oh how i wish i could go back to this moment

  • @MAGGOTKnees i say id kill for bdo 2011 lineup again anyday. It was amazing and this just topped off a fucking mean day

  • Hey awesome video! did you happen to get any photos from Tool or Rammstein?

  • where are the vocals in the last chorus?

  • @saladf1ngers unfortunately his voice cant handle that part and it's my favorite part in the whole song

  • Yea Tool is Band to listen to the Lyric and immerse you're self into it not mosh to it.

  • This video does not depict how wild the crowd actually was...it was fricken awesome. Maynard sang really well that night, Tool still blows my mind!!!

  • so what if theyre not a "mosh" type band!! id still lose it at one of their shows!! and im sure im not alone in this!! hahaha especially to this song!! its got such a tribal animosity to it!!

  • respect the algirithmic algarithms of this band espicelly live.

  • HD...my ass......

  • Wtf I didn't know they played Big Day Out! Amg more US dates please. Rather, US dates at all, please!

  • You could say that Tool is band which is a mosh pit for your brain :P

  • i was right up the front, fuk the moshers behind me.

  • damn nice show! Wish I was there...

  • Man I wish this was on a DVD.

  • Just STFU and listen this!!!!

  • holy crap, kids these days bitch about how "the crowds motionless" and "tool's songs are to long" fuck you and your fucking low attention spans, true musicians can listen to an entire tool album, led zeppelin album and feel a connection. All you people who bitch go listen to your 2 minute songs by bring me the horizon (which all there songs sound the same) or 3 minute bieber crap.

  • @hardyboyztoextreme couldnt have said it better myself. short pump up songs are generally more prefered at festivals. people with low iq's and missing teeth will never understand a zepp album.

  • @hardyboyztoextreme are you saying that you have to be a musician to enjoy tool? Also, trying to seem like a deep genius, under the guise of "hardyboyztoextreme", might prove to be a challenge. ha ha, here's you: 'I just cant figure out why people don't have the same musical taste as me, I mean, I set the standard for all human emotion, don't I?'... you weasel.

  • @hardyboyztoextreme you sir, are absolutely correct... come give a speech at my school

  • man this was the best show id ever seen. right after rammstien and iggy... Oh the memories i shall never forget

  • maynard did'nt sing the last chourse because he can not yell like he used to it kills his voice.

  • That was definitely not their best performance of the song, it was so boring and slow

  • *SLEEPS*

  • Tool please come to Mexico!!!!!

    we need more music!!

    music against violence!

  • i was at sydney, i stood there and basked in their awsomeness

  • this seems like the same setlist from the summer tour they just came off of in 2010..i seen them in new orleans and they played all the same songs...bas ass show!!

  • so apparently, MJK was testing out his epic sign language skills during the final chorus

  • yea for real...you dont mosh to TOOL...you go on intense psycodelic drugs and trip the fuck out to the music...in my oppinion after seeing TOOL this past year, there the best band live that i've ever seen...only band that even comes close in my oppinion at a live show is korn

  • sooo slow

  • I am a fan of both Rammstein and Tool. I hate myself for not going to the BDO, but thanks for the videos. Next best thing.

  • Danny Carey = 6 ft 7 and his bball guernseys are always too big!! what are they xxxxl? i reckon we all know what the size reads... god!!

  • maynard talked to us. he said it was his last big day out so he was going to smoke a cigar, and according to the case it came in him smoking a cigar was going to kill a baby hahaha. they were amazing, i had so much fun! and rammstein was spectacular too!

  • i was almost right at the front in melbourne, and people were falling over each other, the was quite alot of energy there.

  • ohhh no justin, wheres your kick ass long hair man??

  • tool and rammstein in the same bracket of comparison :-o...tool is the moshpit for the mind fellas...cmon

  • @Subzeroo85

learn to spell before you decide to bash on a great band

  • HOLY SHITTTT LOOK AT JUSTIN. HE GOT A HAIR CUT.

  • Here's hoping they stay together for at least 2 more albums.

  • These guys probably do a shit-ton of drugs, they must...or have in the past.

  • epic epic epic epic epic epic epic epic epic epic

  • So easy to wind up Tool fans. Should never have compared a tool crowd to a Bloody Beetroots or Die Antwoord crowd.

  • u can actually almost see maynard!

  • There was moshing going on in the Melbourne one, but they were the very LAST band to play, after 12 hours of other bands... and being so visual Tool were a good way to unwind. Definitely to get to the front row but the crowd was FAR from dead.

  • Was it just the notoriously shit BDO sound, or did you keep putting your finger over the camera mic? It seems to get very very quiet/muffled in some places?

The footage is great though, and I cannot wait to see them at the Melb sideshow on Wednesday night!!

  • fuck yeah, WE SAW TOOL!

  • did tool play parabola at any bdo?

  • @user2secpic not at this one, unsure of last time

  • @Limladz

Fuck off mate. Moshign like meat heads on meth? Just coz you get raped in the pit. And anyone who said that they were hpapy there was no mosh at tool is a meathead, theyre obviously not a moshing band.

  • agreed sheetmetalwarrior, he bails out on singing the end coz he is too old now, cant hit the high notes, ruins the most epic part of the song by not singing it

  • How good is Justin Chancellor!!!! The guy is a freakin beast. Carey is huge but Chancellor is driving these guys. One of the best bassists in music at the moment.

  • @daverlb he revolutionised they way bass is played for this kind of genre, a true artist

  • Why doesn't he do the huge yells at the end? If you can't do it, just hang it up bro.

  • @sheetmetalwarrior Oh please, just hang it up? yeah ok, that's why we listen to tool, for the screams. you're a moron.

  • @losdog13 I'm just saying, don't write new songs with parts you can't do live. That's just not the Tool I grew up with.

  • Not sure if any of you noticed Danny's minor timing mistake at 3:46, rare I know.

  • Could you post You Lied?

  • Comment removed

  • Tool was soooooooooooo amazing that night, I loved the performance and so did the rest of the crowd. Haha, I tried videoing as well, but the crowd was so crazy I nearly dropped my camera too many times for comfort.

  • Lazy fucks could at least try put on a show! I guess open air doesn't suit them well

  • @nivekab Yeah agreed, they were the only reason I went to the concert, the music was still amazing they were just motionless

  • @millsy4321 I didn't think I'd get a positive comment, mine is a little harsh! last time here on BDO it was much the same and in Sydney this time. admittedly I don't often listen to Tool, but musically they were spot on.

  • I can't belive that they played You lied!

  • @surdert123 Is there any footage? I've been looking obsessively!

  • ahh fuck me sister.

can't wait to see them tomorow

  • "lights up, whos on acid?"

  • @haydendugmore clearly you didnt engage on a transient level mate.you shouldnt of been there if you just wanted to banter with maynard, its about the music breaking the traditional band/audience barrier.open your third eye

  • @haydendugmore Have you never seen videos of Tool's live performance? They never have had crowd interaction. Maynard lets his music speak for itself; he goes out and plays the music and we bask in the glory. Why should crowd interaction ruin a concert? I couldn't give a shit if he talks to us or not, but if they play and play well, I will be very satisfied, and that's exactly how I felt afterwards.

  • @haydendugmore Maynard went through a period when he never even looked at the audience. Really, don't expect interaction when you go to see Tool. You'll be disappointed. And don't expect any band to put on better theatrics than Rammstein.

  • @engos84 Rammstein are also very good musically, ppl overlook this way too much and it's easy to see why. Rammstein almost sound the same live as they do on their studio released CD's, now THAT is a band, and to take from your profits to make their artistic vision (pyrotechnics etc), come to fruition which would cost a SHITLOAD of money to a "music festival" just says it all about those guys, they are there for their love of performing AND their fans, a lot of bands are there 4 themselves only

  • @Darkermandeeper

    Panasonic DMC ZS7

  • @DrLurch bro how much was your camera?i wanna get tha same one

  • @HeldNak 500ish

  • @DrLurch Did you film Stinkfist?

  • @Darkermandeeper the crowd was tripping balls mate! clear the cobwebs!

  • @Darkermandeeper

suck a fat one mate, tool were amazing, and everyone around me was headbangn and loving it.

  • @Darkermandeeper

suck a fat one mate, tool was amazing, adn everyone around me was loving it and headbanging and stuff. maybe you were facing the wrong way...

  • @Darkermandeeper Of course you were bored, you're not a Tool fan. I never like concerts of bands I'm not familiar with, but I love Tool and this show was fantastic. By the way, the video description has the name of DrLurch's camera.

  • @0smodius i have to disagree with you on one point, u allude to that if u are not a fan of the music u won't like the showt, well i can garauntee you that there were ppl at that concert that didn't care for Rammsteins music but were impressed with the show, how lucky then are those of us to be Rammstein fans and get to see them live aswell!

  • @destined2sleep Are you suggesting Tool should have been more interesting for non-fans by lighting a man on fire?

  • @0smodius not at all, was pointing out that if u are NOT a fan of Rammstein's music then you wouldn't necessarily be dissapointed with the show, eg ur g/f doesn't like them when u blast them on the stereo but u convince her to go to one of their concerts, it is concievable to have her saying, "wow, that was cool" , but Tool, who i love aswell, that same scenario would never end with her saying, "ok, i may buy a cd now" Tool have a solid fan base, they just cant compete with Rammstein in concert

  • @destined2sleep Two completely different demographics. Hard to even make this comparison considering the base of tool fans don't like to get crazy and have a rammstein style show. it's more about the music technicality, there's a certain art to it. When i see rammstein, i see meshuggah, i see ministry , i see a bunch of other bands that i can listen to and get that same feel. tool , there is no feel i get with any other band, they are the most unique band alive to me.

  • @destined2sleep Im not saying rammstein is bad either, it's just hard to make this comparison because the music interests are completely different. In terms of putting on a better show, aesthetic wise and the way the band puts on the show appeals to their demographic. So yes, they're going to be alot crazier on stage because they know their demographic appeals to it. This goes with my above reply as well. Just wanted to clarify that I'm not saying Rammstein is bad just different style of concert

  • @ryanbeatbox Tool seem to be here to challenge us mentally and spiritually, either that or they are just narcissistic wankers, Rammstein are there to please the fans, that to me is what a band should be created for. I understand a message must be conveyed and I love the fact Tool dedicated Aenima to my all time favourite comic and philosopher Bill Hicks, but i would never see them live again. Rammstein i would fly across the world to see.

  • @destined2sleep. Are you retarded? Being in a band is about the music who gives a fuck about the fans and money I mean is it about that when you're still in your garage jamming and writing shit. I agree that Rammstein had a great stage show but you go to see the music played in front of you not to see if the bands going to have some cool pyrotechnics or slaughter something on stage.. Get a fucking clue

  • @sliderrr and Rammstein create great music, enough said u fucking moron

  • @sliderrr actually you are wrong.. the aim of a band is to have fans so they get money to do that they must please the crowd and if you knew a band had a mean show and mean music you would prefer to go.. allot depends on the show other whys people get bored because thats what a live performance is if you have a band that doesnt put on a show you may as-well just go buy a cd instead of watching them stand still for several hours

  • @sliderrr you are one of the few people on here that know what they are talking about....afuckingmen

  • @Darkermandeeper tool isnt a moshing band...its a have the music blow your mind band....

  • @fangbrain Exactly. In Sydney some dude who obviously knew nothing of Tool was complaining about the lack of mosh. I hated him.

  • @fangbrain You should try seeing them on acid. I had trouble keeping my shit together......

  • i FUCKING hate maynard, think the guy is an absolute joke of a human. But he's a great singer. saw them at melb BDO and their side show and it was amazing. every tool fan i talk to says, "how can you hate maynard, but love tool?" my answer always is, "Its about the music, not the individuals creating it." so it doesn't matter what maynard says, or his values or morals, coz he writes fricken good music. Respect for that.

  • @Jim5H if you knew anything about manynard you would have NEVER even conceived that thought. Maynards music is his soul, his intent, his knowledge, his personality, his experiences, and expression. youre an idiot first and an abomination second. comment on a Tool video when youre not so stupid. take that back never comment on a Tool video again.

  • @superiorLifeForm oh and you know maynard personally? haha. dude relax im not here for a fight. At melb BDO they started to play third eye. then he walked off and the band just looked at eachother like "wtf?", then he walked back on and they were a mess - looked like none of them knew what was going on. they finished their set 10mins early for there was a clock RIGHT NEXT TO MAYNARD. that 10mins should've been third eye. im a musician and i can say i will never be as shit a performer as that.

  • @Jim5H dude if u dont want a fight dont be dumb enough to abuse maynard on a page where thousands of his fans will see it... your just a retard on principle...

  • @fangbrain Lol. you're a funny guy. if i was retarded what would it matter? if you have a problem with retards i suggest you get a new look on life. and im sure your lover maynard would not be impressed.

  • @Jim5H mate calm down i was simply pointing out that its a bad idea to post bad things about maynard on a tool video... and it shows u know im right when u just get angrier. and no i have no problem with retards... just retards like u who make the word retard represent something disgusting :) ps that was a joke take a chill pill, hug a panda and chill the fuck out and listen to some music that u like rather than pissing people off :)

  • @fangbrain true very true my first concert was tool and all these people rite nxt to me were moshing im like wtf embrace this music and quit moshing u idiots

  • @Darkermandeeper I don't know man, I was there in Sydney - and we moshed hard to this song, Aenima and The Pot.

My neck is so sore from headbanging. The best live performance I've ever experienced.

  • @Darkermandeeper

I was there. The mosh was far from motionless.

Tool isn't really jump up and down music. It's more pushing and shoving.

  • @Darkermandeeper If you went to see Tool to mosh with others then you went to the wrong show.

  • @subJECTions Ha yeah, moshing was fun in some bits, but there was this dude who was being a total fuck and smashing people to the ground trying to get to the front, so i elbowed him in the gut really hard, then like a chain reaction some dude knocked him to the ground and then someone else rolled him into the death pit behind us and people just kicked the shit out of him for a minute, then we lifted him up and crowd surfed him out against his own will. He fucking deserved it.

  • @subJECTions well, I cant imagine hearing Hooker with a penis and not wanting to jump around some, maybe its because im a young angry american,...

  • @Darkermandeeper thats what you'd normally expect at a tool concert

  • @Darkermandeeper I know. WTF Is wrong with you Aussies.

YOU'RE FUCKING LUCKY ENOUGH THAT TOOL IS WITH YOU FUCKERS AND YOU DON'T EVEN ENJOY THAT SHIt

    FFFFuuuu

  • @Darkermandeeper Ha whatt?!?! i was in the mosh [melbourne] and i never stopped moving. when i tried to just catch my breath it was actually impossible to not move. And it was good, in songs like the patient everyone kind of chilled a bit more and just watched. Until the more intense bit at the end. I loved every moment of it.

  • @Darkermandeeper

The crowed has obviously slipped into a trance.

  • @Darkermandeeper That because most people watching are tool fans...it isn't about jumping up and down like a dickhead.

  • @264zn Thats right its not about jumping around like a dickhead, but if you love the band you could at least show that you appreciate them being there, make some fuckin noise or something. I love Tool but Rammstein bring it fuckin hard everytime just like BDO 2001 and at the Powerstation the night before.

  • @Darkermandeeper fair enough, but most fans would rather hear tool make the noise...and yes rammstein do bring it 'fuckn hard' as you say, looked like they played a mean set. Funny hearing all these people say how boring tool are, obviously don't quite get it...I mean they played third eye people!!!

  • @Darkermandeeper yeah, they just couldnt top rammstein

  • where was the lyrics at the end? did he not sing them, did his mic fail? did the camera not pick it up?

  • @paulhab12 He generally doesn't sing the lyrics at the end. Also, good shot of the drum god there :D

  • I was in the D ring for this, sat through Rammstein to get a good spot, fucking amazing. The first album i ever bought was Aenima. Anyone else soaked as afterwards? haha

  • its good that tool didnt realy talk much thay are a band that dont print there lyrics so that people need to work to kno there seacrits and its not always about that an eg is The Offspring they arnt really crowd pleasing and they dont really need to be its just the way some bands are they couldnt really say any thing any way

  • nice, maynard sounded as good as always

  • EXCELLENT recording. Actually, best live recording of vicarious that I've seen. Nice work. Wish I'd gone.

  • @aisger Same man, I get shit concerts I live in wellington...
