  • sponsored my VW

  • This would only be interesting if they blew up the car.

  • I didn't want a commercial you fags. Fuck Volkswagen and their piece of shit Jetta

  • i got a advertisement for a diesel jetta

  • And now let's all go off to our local Volkswagen retailer and get one of those overpriced pieces of shit.

  • Sigh

  • it is a commercial

  • They should change the dictionary, it seems test = commercial, advertisment nowadays..

  • That's why I like diesel engine over gasoline engine, more low end torque.

  • Why the fuck does this advert have pop ups adverts in it?

  • @9hello123

advert FOR an advert. >.> <.<

  • fake and gay!!!

  • Sad since old saabs were cool, 93 aeros and 9000 aero :E

  • And i didn't mean that VW is a minor manufacturer, but maybe not that prestigeous and really not the quality of audi, bmw, volvo etc, today I really think saab is on par with opel :( and opel to me is one of the worst german car manufacturer of the big ones..

  • I live in the UK and own several Rover 800s. The 2.5 VM diesel is excellent and I prefer them to the gasoline powered 2 litre 16 valve twin cam (claimed 140BHP) OK the turbo diesel has 500 cc greater capacity and a turbo but the claimed 118BHP feels a lot stronger than the petrol. My gold diesel shredded its New Process Gears gearbox whilst zooming uphill in 5th at about 70mph. The petrol turbo is also apt to do the same unless stronger bearings are fitted. Duh!

  • LOL fake enthusiasm detected !yaay!, VW are kinda quality and cheap european autos but i've never seen anyone that exited, id go for skoda instead...

  • @Kekkon3n Skoda have improved tremendously since they were amalgamated into the VW empire. Even Seat use VW mechanicals and the Ford Galaxy is built on a VW Sharran platform. Jaguar and Saab are Ford owned so nothing is what it seems. Forget sales blurbs, instead look for a body that has had a full paint dip or is made from "Zintec" (galvanised steel) It is possible to have both and get a 25 year anti-perforation guarantee. Cheap brands STILL don't have any paint inside the doors! Duh!

  • @techdavey1000 I'm really not sure what you tried to say, but my point was that i prefer skoda to vw even though their tech is almost the same. Also the "cheap european car" was meant for american viewers of these comments since they might not know what the price range of different smaller car manufactures in the europe it self are. Since when imported to us their price will be a bit high like the "cheap" ford mustang is about 2.5 times more expensive here (finland) than in the usa :S

  • In my country a car that does 45~50mpg is nothing surprising ... most of diesel cars with 'nice' engines do it fairly easy... even my fifteen years old car can do 50mpg (4,3L/100Km) from a 1.7L diesel engine (no turbo nor other tricks).... and i can load more than half a ton on the trunk and it will climb every slope fairly easy, the torque on diesels is just awesome, but you have to be gentle with the clutch or you'll break it :]

This video is obviously an advertisement... for US country...

  • Clearly promoting VW. However, I strongly support the integration of more diesel powered cars in the US. You can get ANYTHING with a diesel engine in most other countries. Why not here? My Dodge Ram 2500 weighs 8,200 lbs with the gear I typically carry and I have gotten as much as 28 mpg on long trips. It also has the power to jump start a dead planet.

  • i'd endorse kitty litter if they gave me a bag of cash. these bills dont pay themselves.

  • Isn't diesel more expensive than regular gasoline? Sorry, I'm thirteen.

  • @VViP30U7

I don't know where you live but in Canada you often get it 5 to 10 cents cheaper.

  • @VViP30U7 diesel is still slightly cheaper

  • this IS a commercial...

  • Paid advertisement!?!?

  • damn i thought they were going to blow the car up =(

  • Diesels are handy for driving long distances of when you have a family, but c'mon, we all know petrol cars are much, much, much more fun

  • @PublicSting youve obviously never driven a VW TDI ::P

I have a 2001 TDI golf with a 1.9 L engine, ( for those of you that dont know VW, TDI is diesel)

and I can drop rubber whenever I want without a second thought :D

  • torque in turbo charged diesels is much better in petrol engine. Even TDI with less power could have more torque than more powerfull petrol engine.

  • @santaa1337 Yeah, but that diesel torque will die off pretty fast past 3500rpm.. when ina turbo-petrol it has torque low revs, not as much , but it will kick and will delvier torque/power right to high rpm constantly..

They are different power curves.. diesels impress in low rpm, turbo-petrol in everything else

  • Well.. I now know what car I'm getting...

  • that's a plug

  • Yeah the turbo diesel engines they use for cars arnt that bad at all.But a diesel in a truck is great fun and a hell of alot of torque

  • Of course it's turbocharged. Who makes naturally aspirated diesels over a few hp anyway?

  • @gschjetne you can get over 35% more output with a turbo diesel over n.a ^_^

  • I have a TDI , LOVE IT.

  • everyone who drove a TDI seems to love it. My dad's car is a TDI and can't think of buying anything else now :(

  • @medic9five Enjoy it whilst it lasts as experience shows that drive-by-wire high technology common rail diesels can be extremely troublesome. Never ever fetch fuel in a can that has held anything other than fuel or lubricating oil. Whilst fuel carried in a can that once held truck cleaner won't hurt a Simms pump (jerk pump) it will trash a common rail pump. Beware of fractured intermittent injector wiring & treat the wires as consumable. Last error by main dealer cost a friend $5000, economical?

  • Product placement, sure - but the point they make is equally valid for any modern diesel engine produced by Ford, VAG, Renault, PSA, GM, Toyota, Subaru, Honda, etc etc etc Diesels have been quiet, clean and efficient for 10 years now, shouldn't we have got the message already?

  • @mjgainford Apparently not in the states :(

  • gotta earn your money somehow, eh? the nvidia thing was cool, but this... no.

  • Now there's at least one thing I did before Mythbusters - driving a TDI.

  • LOL WTF that is not a myth

  • it called an advert

  • Lool. Americans treat diesels like some aliens... like they didn't know abut they're existence. Come on good people put your brains to work you are that stupid as the world say.

  • do i see product placement?!?!

  • sellout... lol

  • hahah this is funny

  • station wagons all the way

  • yea take that dam petrol engines hehe but mercedes benz is way better than wolkwsagen

  • i wanna nail kari so bad

  • yea me too.

  • She married and pregnant -_-.

  • lol ur point is now she's a MILF LO

  • Shit that sucks!

  • great spot. good marketing campaign. Love the Mythbusters. I just think it's funny to watch anytime they're given scripted dialogue. Can't wait for the next one(s).

  • chale este parece un comercial, y creo que lo es

  • cush a commercial... even small writing at the bottom! lol! but yeah, i want to see better cars , better looking cars, with diesel engines, not VW. :( this is lie a cihck deflector. im just saying.

  • I'll buy it!!! :D

  • This just kinda seems like a commercial

  • @imOverWhere It is a commercial. What's more interesting is that YouTube had an commercial before this commercial.

  • America at its best :thumbs down: do you realize how utterly stupid you sound? You may be angry that the dynamics of a global economy do not operate in your favor. You do no know what you are talking about. It really does not matter what you buy these days. Almost Everything has foreign part content. You want to buy a quality "american" car. Go buy a european made ford or gm and then you will realize why nobody wants any "american" car from here

  • i agree, ford cars in europe are some of the best, and yet they make them shitty here.

  • not really, i had a ford car in europe. whenever i closed the door, it sounded like thin metal sheets hitting each other. it was also a pretty hallow sounding door.

  • Wow this pisses me off. Mythbusters has been getting worse over the last couple seasons but I've stuck with it, but to stoop so low as to have their 3 retarded monkeys advertise for some shitty car, well that's the last straw. I'm throwing in the towel, after this I know I'll never be able to watch another 3 stooges segment because I'll keep thinking of this joke, and they were already near impossible to take. Adam and Jaime are cool guys but their show has gotten stale.

    RIP Mythbusters.

  • pathetic...tractors are way ahead of you NAZIS!!!! farmers are the true innovators...let's see some SVO footage or synthesis of home diesel...then force feed that little noise maker the home brew for ...oh say a 3000 km trip.

  • who do you mean with NAZIS?

  • Great car! Way to break the myth about diesels. Too bad American car companies can't make a quality car anymore... oh wait... they aren't American owned anymore. Chrysler owned by Fiat, GM closing American plants, but planning to make the cars in China. Now who's the sellout!

  • Fuck that's shocking! You total n utter sellouts. That's so far beyond LAME it's unreal!!!! A new word might actually have to be made up to describe just how total and utter WANK that was. When your finished giving V.W a right good bumming session how bout doing some real work. I think everyone should unsub from this channel straight away. You guys should be ashamed. Some people will do anything for money.

  • wow, discovery has now sunk to a new low, now it's not just shitty shows about exploding things and crab fishermen, but actually putting cast in vdub commercials. I hope you are happy Discovery, I am never watching your station again

  • Credit crunch, baby. Better to have cash then principles.

  • Holy crap. The quality is amazing.

  • fail

  • ford and the cashless gm and now european chrysler create better products how? at least they can convince mythbusters to advertise for them. get your head out of your ass and realize that the war has been over for 65 years

  • When did I say that, you fucking moron lol. VW is overpriced as fuck. If you are content buying a piece of shit, which sells solely on marketing to idiots through stupid ads, so be it.

  • you can pick up a Jetta tdi for under 24k out the door. and it comes with heated seats, 6cd/sat radio, 120v power inverter, and tons of other features that come standard

  • Phuu!

  • LOL FFS.. a commercial..

I guess it's time to think of how slanted their "myth busting" really is...

  • nope... they were brought out! not only does this show no crediablity to there words its heavly scripted... sorry im rating this 1/5

  • Come on guys...Mythbusters has every right to stage for advertisements. They are not compromising on their real shows, so why give such negative comments!?

It is similar to football players that wear jerseys filled with advertisements, it doesn't affect their game.

  • While they have the right to do commercials, we also have the right to call them on being sell outs.

Also, this is not the same as an athlete. The Mythbusters have to maintain a level of credibility which this calls into question. Its the science part of it (mind you, a lot of public scientists are also sell outs).

  • Agree :D

  • Smell

  • FAILBLOG?

  • What is this? A commercial for VW?

  • commercial

  • this is an example of how big corporative marketing gets a hold on things that appeal to the average ppl an takes a huge crap on top of it...making the caracters prostitute themselfs(i mean really...did u see the make up on kari) to make money...mythbusters are sell outs...first listerine and now this shit...makes me sick

  • I miss the old days with just Adam and Jamie

  • they sold out ... :(

now they are also advertising for sem mig light ... SO SAD :(

  • Mythbusters are becoming sell outs

  • oh product placement! I LOVE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • I could do Kari right now....

  • lol the power of advertising

  • yeah, talk about overacting...

  • too bad Diesel costs like 10 times more than regular gas and smells 50 times worse

  • except for the part where it is usually only marginally more expensive and burns slower, therefore making it last "like 50 times" longer, which is partially why it has such good mpg.

  • where i live its about 10 cents a liter less, thats about 40 cents a gallon less, oyu dont use as much per combustion, and the rpms of a diesel car are lower. Many reasons why its cheaper

  • ye, i have noticed with the way gas prices are like 9 cents here diesel is about 1 cent cheaper. It is still fucking smellier tho rofl

  • Only on your planet....

  • well there goes their credibility. the show is probably on its last leg anyhow. c'mon, a commercial ?! i mean i can understand drinking a pepsi on camera or something but this was painful to watch.

  • @aldopons they had credibility? and anyway what does making cash on the side gotta do with proving myths? (to each their own i say)

  • @aldopons You have to remember that these kinds of videos are distributed solely on the web. Therefore, they employ a product placement scheme in the video. I do agree that they are probably running out of myth material because they spend a lot of time proving things that should be common knowledge.

  • Diesel works in four steps: invade a country, blame the terrorists, get the gas and fill your tank.

  • Speak the truth bro

  • how much did vw pay them???

  • LOL.. and your sponsor today is volkswagen. Ithought this was suposed to be myth busters

  • ...and you could own this car for TEN easy payments of $1999!

  • This is it I'm unsubscribing

  • Well. That looks like adverts! And tah's HORRIBLE!

  • terrible, absolute disappointment :(

  • Its ok its a JOB afterall

  • Good grief. They've totally sold out.

  • divs

  • oh hey look a new Mythbust- i mean commercial video :(

  • merchan -_-

  • This is the mythbusters episode about deceptive advertisement.

  • One of the reasons I enjoy youtube is the lack of advertising and product placement...

  • Fuk this shit

  • Although you can tell it's sponsored it is still a bit deceptive. They're making it like a segment of Mythbusters.

"Next, we debunk the myth that we can't be totally impartial about the Jetta's total AWESOMENESS after they pay us $50k each."

  • next week we crack the myth of how affordable it is

  • i rather have a gold gti , who the hell wan a jetti or some shyt

  • i wonder do they even know what torque is

  • hopefully everyone who watches it r not retarded

  • I think the script is written by VW.lol

  • omfg, vw sucks in germany, also who cares like a jetta tdi drives ?

  • when did Mythbusters become Top Gear?

  • can you say "SELLOUT"

  • noooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Paid or not.... The problem has been for years that Americans (sorry don`t want to offend so think about it before bashing me) have been very negative about diesels. I prolly can understand why because in America for decades there has been really a lot of cars with big petrol powered V6s, V8s not like in Europe.

Still - they aren`t at least lying/exagerating like in most commercials.

  • Ok! They made their money........Did they really have to act as if they were taking a ride and checking the engine..........THEY WERE PAYED TO ADVERTISE THE CAR!!!!

  • THEY WERE PAYED TO ADVERTISE THE CAR!!!!

they were PAID to advertise the car =.='''

  • Sellouts! though i like the show, every dialog there is rehearsed, to a noticable rate. like they are explaining thing for kids. We get it! you're smarter than us!

  • myth busted?

  • NICE COMMERCIAL! WTF?

  • yeah like when I'm on the road after hours of long traveling the first thing I wanna do right after getting off the car, DO IT AGAIN?

  • Sellouts.

  • so not worth watching...........on another note, don't most diesel engines have turbos in them to have more power?

  • Now a days all diesel engines have turbos. And it has been common for at least 15-20 years in Europe. I guess diesel engines in cars in USA is not very common because of low demand. Diesel fuel in the USA prior to 2006 had higher level of sulphur than the fuel used in Europe. Diesel-engined cars from Europe had to either be fitted with specially developed fuel and emissions control system for the prohibitvely small North American market, or simply could not be sold in that market.

  • didnt know all that, thank you for the enlightenment

  • I didn't know they did commercials....

  • There is nothing wrong in them doing this.

  • Mythbusters...I am disappoint.

  • sell outs, where is your sense of nationalism?

  • They Didn't even Peel Out.

    Imposters!

  • Funny.. I thought the mythbusters were AGAINST product placment. Guess I was wrong. Sucks to you, Discovery

  • yeah.. I share the same thought

  • but they were paid and F**k it wouldnt you, hell if sum1 asked me to sell out, hell easy money

  • OK! This is seriously fucked up!

No one will be interested in that stupid car unless the mythbusters blow it to smithereens

  • omg, i can't believe they did this :(

  • Did i click on a comercial channel by mistake.

  • Seriously WTF. I'm regretting having clicked on the link.

  • Totally agree with you.

  • big rigs are turbocharged

so whats so specil about this car

  • gay commercial

    im just sayin

  • WTF, WOW!

  • i hope you enjoy the money you got off VW because i sure aint gonna watch mythbusters any more if this is how low you have gone

  • These guys are really good actors. I totally buy them as people who can't act trying to sell cars in extended commercials. BRAVO.

  • BooOOOOooo this add is getting old already I hope Vw paid them lots for this

  • worst commercial ever.

  • hhyghjhvgnjyujmgmu

  • fuck this

  • Where's Adam and Jamie?

  • Mythbusters went downhill when those 3 joined. This is just far below my lowest expectations! It's just sad

  • boo. sell out.. not fun anymore.

  • agreed

  • doing commercials no eh?
