@druddock Well i dont think aluminium would give such weight to the engine.I have a Kraz-255B and its v8 engine had a cast iron block,making it weigh easily over a ton.

@Taosique A you sure about that? It sounds and looks a lot like ZiL's petrol engines. But the fuelconsumption figures I can well belive. Zilton's had quite the same figures even on road. Offroad use then doubles the consumption.

@SonyT250 It is a diesel engine and its power and torque numbers are not even comparable with the gasoline zil v8 engine.This is a D12A-525 quad valve 38,8L diesel.525hp is available at 2100 rpm and 1934 Nm of torque at 1200 rpm.

@Henzzman Quite awesome numbers - for a russian tech. SOmehow it does not sound like a diesel engine and the smoke is rather blue, like in Ziltons instead of a black "power smoke" like any heavy diesel engine.

Would be a nice truck for offroad-purposes anyway.

@SonyT250 Well it has to have awesome numbers,because look at the sheer size and the displacement of the engine.This engine has a cast iron block and it weighs about 1,6-1,7 tons.Zil 6l engine is quite weak,yes it has big displacement and all,but it is not a brilliant gasoline v8 engine.The Urals 7l v8 is much better gasoline engine.The MAZ engine is blowing blue and white smoke,because it is naturally aspirated and it has no forced induction.Adding a turbo or 2,will give black smoke.
