Men in Black was a spoof on the Clark Gable and Myrna Loy 1934 movie Men in White, released earlier that year. The Stooges, in fact, wear mostly white outfits for this film. The short is also significant in that it was the only time that the trio would be nominated for an Academy Award for "Best Short Subject - Comedy".

This is the Stooges 3 episode ever and the only episode the Stooges were nominated for a Academy Award (didn't win). This also marks the 1st episode when they actually worked as a team. The 1st and 2nd episodes , 'Women Haters' and 'Punch Drunks' they were more like individuals getting together.

I think this is one of the few episodes that don't work very well as a minisode. There are just so many small things that make it an amazing short and they have to be cut.

The early 3 Stooges shorts are the best. They were young, creative, and they had good writing to work with. The studio just milked them for the next 20 years or so and then dropped them. Its a shame they never got the credit due (or the money due) in their lifetimes.
