I wrote to the SNP with one question and that was will an Independent Scotland be run with separation of Church and state and therefore no longer be a Christian nation and they have refused to respond. I think the people should be told if Scotland will be a secular nation and either way the SNP needs to produce a FULL constitution so people understand the guiding principles and values of this secular non Christian nation. What are the values they want for Scotland if any?

What I find incredibly bizarre is how separatism is more popular in Scotland than in Quebec, and in both cases secession is an awful idea for all parties. I remember back in the 90s the Quebec secessionists were demanding billions in aid from the federal government of Canada post-secession, because Quebec's economy was too small to sustain itself.

Anyway, Scotland will never secede. Secession isn't popular enough (29% want independence - Ipsos Mori), and among those that want independence, it's primarily among the idiotic young.

Prior to unification Scotland, England and Wales were second rate powers but when they united they ended up creating the greatest empire the world has ever seen and shaped the modern world. @johnp7620 I am English, but support Scottish devolution as I primarily agree I love the Scots. Many people in our local Catholic parish are Scottish and I love them and the countryside. Independence would actually benefit England and Wales as the massive financial windfall granted to Scotland would cease. Blunt reality Scotland would go bankrupt and England and Wales be far better off - a very good thing considering the current cuts. EU movement would mean access would remain the same too.
