  • You need to get yourself a real forge and anvil.

You'll wonder why you did it this way for so long.

  • @SlaughterOtter i think his forge will work nicely if he would try coal instead of charcoal. and yeah i agree he needs a steel anvil.

  • Now THAT is the kind of forge I would want in my own yard. One that doubles as a barbecue pit!

  • a stone as an anvil??????? i ve seen a lot of crazy things, but this is the hammer!!!!!!

  • this guy play's to much skyrim.....O_o

  • @15dresden Don't even own a gaming system. Why do you think I stared this project in the first place?

  • @15dresden facepalm... this video came out before skyrim.... i blacksmith too, and did a good 8 months before skyrim came out. there are still people who do this because they genuinely enjoy it.

  • love it.....does it get hot enough?.....what about the granite....how does it hold up after pounding on it?

  • @hghplnsdrftr1 The granite held up excellently. Little bit of chipping on the edges, but other than that no worse for wear.

  • that dog barking really got on my tits

  • @ukscouts Neighbor's St Bernard. The fence only kept the dog about 5 feet away from me. The though crossed my mind of fling hot steel at it, I must admit.

  • a good idea also for a makeshift anvil, is to use a small piece of an i-beam

  • Awesome! Although I don't know if you got the spike hot enough before forging, it tends to be nearing white hot when you forge (although it could just be the camera :) )

  • be carefull when using bricks, they can explode because of the water in them. Fire bricks are safe.

  • cool .. i think some more air flow ... the granite will chip off i guess

  • this is just what i needed! thanks for the inspiration dude! good video!

  • @blackbearbushcraft Thanks! Rock on

  • I have also heard of using a large sledge hammer head as a makeshift anvil. I think the granite or ground base maybe absorbing most of the force. But none the less it does give ideas.

  • @user240485 i recently purchased a 7 kg head .. am releaved to know it is a tested idea.. thanks

  • MAY I SUGGEST ABIT OF RAILWAY LINE MAKES A GOOD ANVIL,ALSO TRY AVACUME CLEANER ON BLOW TO GET A GOOD DRAUGHT
