  • I love this song, I love Genesis and I love Peter. He is one of my favourite artist and singer. The things he did in stage were fantastic, had never been seen before. And the costumes he used in others tracks are fantastic.

  • love the music but I feel sea sick.

  • I saw "The Lamb" 2 nights in a row in December of 1974. Out of all the tours not to film, why this? A major gaffe by the schoolboys

  • @markboccaccio Peter recently revealed in a Mojo interview that it was his decision not to film the shows. He said that looking back he thinks he was too much of a control freak. Pity...

  • Getting...seasick...from...zoom addiction..

  • I want that video...

  • REUNION NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • never tire of this track..;-)))

  • Awesome sometimes underrated track !!

  • Wow - this is Genesis like I've never seen 'em. I like it!

  • LOVE it - LOVE them. Soundtrack to my teens.

  • LOVE this album

  • Saw this live in 75,St.Louis,Mo.

  • 1:13 the classic stalk approach and POUNCE on the microphone stand. Like a cat!!! Love it!

  • This is the holy grial of rock music

  • genius

  • the thing about phil, he is so naturally gifted on the drums and making music in general. he is one of those types that doesnt have to practice, and this can be heard in anything he is drumming to. every beat is in perfect placement in the context of the song, and probably only had to listen to the part once to get it. it never sounds rehearsed, this in my opinion is what sets him apart from all others

  • @jimmygt4

    Exactly,

Phils drumming has a quality, not only exciting drive, but he is also inventive, always changing, charging...

And how the band plays from 3:00, and how easy Tony puts out the following solo,, aaah....

Much of the old magic still shines 36 yrs after the event....

  • Thx for posting ! Brings back memories :-) sounds way better, than the recording of the Wiesbaden concert, which I attended.

  • maybe my favourite track. lamb lies down is their masterpiece album (I find)

  • First time I listened to the "Lamb lies down at Broadway" was totally THE music experience, and was as close to tripping as possible!!! And I still think it is. The album is a journey too complex to describe, and must be one of the best prog-albums made, ever.

  • man i want to slap the camera man

  • o melhor album do genesis

  • attention tent hutters hostie whose in the bullpen foulers...

  • WOW and here it is I thought Peter Gabriel emerged from Sledgehammer and BIG TIME lol! Never knew he was in Genesis, of course pre- In The Air Tonight and I'm lost.

  • @luvitluvitbaby , Genesis never sang "In The Air Tonight" - that was Phil Collins solo. And they don't have a song called I'm Lost either. And yes some of Peter Gabriel's best work was with Genesis in the early 70's and Phil Collins best drumming too. Gabriel was well known in the world of music long before Sledgehammer and Big Time came out.

  • @TheCorrectAnswer56 I'm sorry I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I never said "In The Air Tonight" was a Genesis song. I was simply pointing out my own ignorance to the history of Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins and Genesis. My knowledge of these great performers only went back as far as the 1980's when in fact they were around a lot longer. I think you also misunderstood the comment "I'm lost". I never suggested this was a song just simply that prior to the 1980's I'm lost on the them.

  • @luvitluvitbaby , okay, gotchya

  • @luvitluvitbaby I have some recommendations for Peter era songs, if you'd like to investigate that is. Personally, I enjoy "The Fountain of Salmacis", the 23-minute long "Supper's Ready", "Firth of Fifth", "The Cinema Show", and "Carpet Crawlers". Some lesser-known Phil numbers include "Squonk", "Inside and Out", "Duke's Travels", and "Home by the Sea" (although the last one is on the radio every now and then in my area). Also, Pete's "Solsbury Hill" is about leaving Genesis, FYI. Happy hunting!

  • Love Genesis!!! Ron Paul 2012

  • I adore the keyboard solo on this song ^^

  • Saw The Lamb tour in 1974 in Buffalo at the Century Theater. Still ranks up there as one the all time best concerts ever! Cannot wait to see The Musical Box do this show in Phoenix, AZ in October! Thanks for sharing these clips!

  • I bet Bill Graham has a full video sitting somewhere in his vault. High quality footage from LA Shrine shot by Graham's people has shown up in a documentary, and it's Lamia and Slippermen which is late in the show, so they probably filmed quite a bit. Thank you Musical Box for bringing this back again to the west coast of the US.

  • themusicalbox. net are touring this album, but not coming to uk. I'm going to germany to see it. I cannot die without seeing it performed.

  • Aw no fair I wanna be Peter Gabriel

  • There are full live recordings out there of several 74/75 shows, Both video & audio !!!! Trust me they will come out.

  • @xtstevie Okay we will hold you to that, are there any more details you can tell us?

  • @xtstevie , How do you know that??? Why should we trust you when its been 35 years and this is the best we've got? I hope you're right though. For as big of a band as they were at the time and were already established as having stunning live visuals, you think there would have been somebody, just one person out of the 100 plus shows they played, who would have filmed the whole thing beginning to end. The lack of video just doesn't make much sense.

  • @xtstevie really? cuz i cant believe no one ever released one

its a shame...this wouldve made a brilliant concert film

  • @xtstevie I'm still waiting. I always think, didn't ANYONE have a frikking camera back then? There's plenty of filmed complete concerts of every other darn band that was out the same time as these guys.

  • @RemoTheDestroyer LOL we were too hypnotised to take pix, we were in the moment :)

  • @xtstevie Ok guys, now watch my cover of Behind the lines.

Go to "Duke's travels cover by pino lettieri" and after clik on link for watch Behind!

    ENJOY

    pino

  • @xtstevie yeah but when??? That is the holly grial of Rock !!

  • The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway World Tour, Themusicalbox net.

  • This was the last days of Peter Gabriel the original lead singer, then later Phil Collins became full-time lead vocalist.

  • mi preferido de genesis...... muu 1966

  • woweeeeeeeeeeeee .. very interesting sound of this song ..

    never heard such an interpretation

  • @vuotopiuscuro

    really very wow

  • The Slipperman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My favorite Genesis song. It has such a haunting sound.

  • @takidigits13 The great thing about genesis with peter gabriel, was that the songs weren't overly sentimental.

Phil collins has a bad reputation of being over sentimental and even though he's a good musician, his lyrics can some times be really corny because he's no leonard cohen.

He's also a good singer but this is why i prefer peter gabriel singing because the music was never corny and it was also rock which i love.

  • One of the eeriest songs I've ever heard.

  • Peter Gabriel´s performing on stage is more impressive and brings to us a real song´s exeprience. We are capable to travel through Genesis songs by his natural talent, even genesis musicans to

  • I just bought second row center tix to see the Musical Box perform the Lamb at the Kesick Theatre outside of Philly 11/18/11 for my brother & I.I saw them do this show a few yrs ago & i was blown away.I highly recommend u guys see them do this...i know its seven mos away but as Rael once "They say I must be crazy..."

  • @moco635 I'm going to see it in Tacoma! To see the Lamb performed how it was back then is going to be amazing. I can't fucking wait!!

  • If Tolstoy and Shakesphere had a baby he could not come close to writing something as brilliant as the Lamb......

They would be free to flutter in the memory of their wasted dreams.

  • Take note ye, you greatest generation, for you have witnessed the best of Rael's Genesis. The Mecca of Prog rock. You shall be remembered for enternity, because you where there, and all before you and after will be forever jelous, for you have witnessed the pinnacle of Poetic Rock, and we of the modern geration have to deal with Beyonce singing about a single lady, forever in an age of repetitiveness music that has no actual intellect behind it .

    Signed

    A new generational Genesis fan.

  • @kirkjans "The general public, are ignorant and meddlesome outsiders who must be put in their place. They are to be spectators of action not participants who must be regimented to abandon any ideas about controlling their own lives. Their task is to develop a philosophy of futility and to follow orders while focusing their attention on more superficial things which comprise much of fashionable consumption."

~ Walter Lippmann (Pioneer of Propaganda) (1922)

  • @kirkjans "The individual is handicapped by coming face to face with a conspiracy so monsterous he cannot believe it exists."-J. Edgar Hoover

"We shall have World Government whether or not you like it, by conquest or consent."-James Warburg(Council on Foreign Relations)

"No one will enter the New World Order unless he or she will make a pledge to worship Lucifer. No one will enter the new age unless he will take a Luciferian initiation."-David Spangler(United Nations)

  • @kirkjans Well put ,so true!

  • This album The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is a wonderful concept album to listen to. But it has to be heard start to end,or you don't get the story,it helps to have the vinyl album with all the lyrics and photos.

  • great to hear the REAL genesis together! what youth and "band competition" can produce. a far cry from recent gabriel or genesis work, HA!

  • Whoever filmed 3:24 annoys me; STAY IN ONE ZOOMED SPOT WHILE FILMING!

  • Amazing. Thanks so much for the flashback.

  • Video is from at least 2 different concerts, and the audio is from a 3rd concert. Nice attempt on your part to make it look real--it must have taken a lot of time to cobble it all together and try to synchronize it.

  • Thanks for the music. I don't "look a gift horse in the mouth" and that isn't a comment about the sound quality. It's a comment about the horslips lookers.

  • I've enjoyed that. Great work on the sound. Thanks!

  • In 1969 we saw live footage from the moon. In 1975 nobody was able to film the greatest cultural event in the 20th century. This is in fact the best clips!

  • @Topographer that is so true...

  • my fave album ever,4 sides with no filler ,very cinamatic, they finally found a way to do something other than hobbitt medievil sorta music.even phil shines! wish they coulda kept it goin .i guess peter sorta has kept it goin .but makes me sick wot that band turned into.at least yes kept it goin till just a couple years ago,but now they got a fake jon anderson singin with them ......nasty stuff!!!!!!!! oh well.

  • What's with the cam all the way in the back constantly zooming in and zooming out. The quality is bad as it is already, and a moron decides to play stupid with the zooming. I hope he regrets for the rest of his life having done such a foolish thing.

Good video nonetheless....for us who always wished there was ever a professional recording of this entire concert.

  • I encourage all owners of rare live performances to enhance their audio prudently for the sake of clarity and to give us something to enjoy.

  • amazing, that with it being such a big project,...no real offical footage was shot.

Read something by Gabriel many years back that he would like to have done a 'Lamb" film.

  • @junkieinformant - he was in discussion with William Friedken ("The Exorcist") but it didn't lead anywhere conclusive. Friedken worked with Tangerine Dream eventually. Be something special to have a film version of Lamb.... a mix of original stage performance with enacted fantasy sequences. We can but dream

  • i swear scott weiland rips off his stage moves

  • Best song in Lamb album... but anyway, back in NYC and most of others are also fantastic... Long Live Genesis 69-74 !

  • think of all the instruments and their own parts. Put them together and it creates a perfect melody. Today, however, we use weird beats and noises in our songs that require no skill, in my opinion.

  • If only they knew then how special a group they were together.

  • One of the most beautiful songs ever. The feelings in the voice is superb!

  • Everyone saw Peter in black leather, with sensual poses? After art rock and bat disguises; Pete here acts a junky male prostitute on boardwalks of NY CITY !!!

  • Mr Banks seems so seriuos at his keyboards !

  • Right there, at the point where Gabriel sings " Outside the cage, I see my brother John" it's so.. Powerful, single best moment in the number.

At first I wasn't a big fan of this track, but I've grown to love it, it carries as much diversity as most 20 minute prog epics in it's short 8min

  • I was at this show.........Maybe one of the most amazing 'LIVING ART' performances ever.Much more than a concert. SHEAR GENIUS. Continous music the whole time. three slide screens...image in image.....lightining fast costume changes.......precision lighting sycronized to music / movement......very rapid control of TEMPERATURE throughout the auditorium, from hot to cold in 30 seconds also in sync with the music.

It was ASTONISHING. These guys were so ahead of their time.

  • Well, the whiners really are quite a bunch aren't they? I mean what price would the blind put on sight? This video and corresponding soundboard are amazing in that we can actually go back in time and see the masterwork that was Genesis. Never thought I would see this performed live by the original lads...

  • MUSICA E VOCE MERAVIGLIOSE

  • The sound is clear, but it sounds heavily processed and somehow not real. Good effort though to make it sound clearer.

  • @gordon777777 It's real, not heavily processed but also not one of the best soundboard recordings from that time. One can only work with with what they have

  • @Tommygun1028 Es ist nicht real, Es ist Rael :D ^^ sorry :D

  • @Tommygun1028 Was this particular performance recorded for commercial release?

  • @rayjr62 Sorry but no rayj62. No professional footage of an entire Lamb concert from 1975 has ever surfaced. Only snippets.

  • @Tommygun1028 damn this and selling england by the pound are my fav gabriel era albums,im sure it will be released one day

  • @rayjr62 Which venue is this clip from. I ask as I was at (one of?) the Empire Pool gig in `75. (Maybe they played several nights. I cannot remember)

  • @Tommygun1028 hmmm I think its most because of the compression that this sounds not so cool . thoses soundmans back in the days was true genious...

  • @ieatsick Perhaps. That could be debatable...but with "better" you mean more creative, then there's a rotund "No fucking way" for you.

  • The sound isn't bad but it's a shame no one has come up with the matching (or another show) with video. This is certainly the correct erra but seems like quite a chop job trying to get everything to match.

  • I saw The Lamb performed perfectly by The Musical Box in Boston a couple of years ago. After the show I stood on the cold snow for about an hour staring at the full moon while I replayed the entire show in my mind. What a night.

I had a chance to talk to the singer before the show and he told me in no uncertain terms Peter Gabriel will never do anything with Genesis again and, so far, he's turned out right regardless of the wishful thinking and failed prediction of others. So long Genesis!

  • @PhilistineTheArtLuvr I saw the Musical Box playing live the lamb in Madrid in 2007, and if I´d say it was stunning, this wouldn't be expressive enough. I wasn't old enough to see the original show with Genesis in 1975, but I bet the show of the Musical Box it worths a lot: the sound is magnificent, and the singer wears the original Peter Gabriel's disguises, and the play the original slideshow.

  • @Maximoo45 Exactly! The Musical Box show was done exactly as Genesis did it when they went on the LLDOB tour. Mike Rutherford said, "They're doing a better job than we ever did" So the entire thing is truly nothing short of heavenly!

  • 700777

  • Amazing every time I see it

  • I queued overnight to get tickets for the concert in Manchester - days of carefree youth

  • why wasnt the lamb video'ed ..i smell a rat

  • mmm...wow there are 36 great idiots!

  • Epic.

  • Awesome track from the greatest band in the cosmos. Great work on the vid...

  • Tommygun do you know if there's a name for that short coda at the end of In the Cage? It's beautiful. Keep up the great work!!

  • I highly recommend Randy's videos, great quality and great price :O))

  • I was there, was phenomenal.

  • it really is amazing to think that phil used to be a real musician

  • Grande musica ......grande Peter!!!

  • maravillosos

  • Music?

    Some play from the tree...

    some play from its branches...

    Others play from the leaves...

    Nowadays ...even others

play from the birdshit on the branches...

    Genesis?

They played from the root and the blood of the tree.

    I am still so amazed!

    Bernard

  • Collins' drumming is awesome on this.

  • so good peter <3

  • I just read an article last year that would likely confirm that any original Genesis reunion

would not happen. It regarded Phil. He had to quit drumming due to severe

arthritus. Really unfortunate. But he still has his great singing voice.

  • I want it, I was there god dammit!

  • Really, what was this record about? I loved it but was never sure what the story or message was all about.

  • REMINDS ME OF YES STEVE HOWIE PLAYING PLUS WAKEMAN ON KEYS MIND BLOWER FOR SURE..

  • @tankerman25 Yes were great but Genesis were/are a far superior band.

  • I simply don't believe they'll get back though they really should but I'm not sure of Phil's health (ears nothing else thank god).

  • Yeah, the last show but remember the album complexity... we cheered more for the past album than this one. Gab really pushed the envelope there. Of course as a newbie Genesis fan (only since 73), I just couldn't quite get the Lamb but started enjoying Tresspass, Selling England, Nursery... Trust me guys, tough to follow these guys back then!

  • i don't care what anyone says...musically...these 5 guys we know as GESESIS are simply amazing!! we all wish the obvious, yes?? can peter and the band return for a final curtain call??!!? i pray for that day!!!

  • This is GENESIS

  • Crappy video, great audio. Is that Collins or Gabriel singing the intro? (Another sign that Peter was not missed.)

  • @bpmcl phil collins then peter gabriel takes over from the line"get me out of this cage"

  • dear God, shoulda kept that camera still. Such rare footage, wow. Amazing. Thanks.

  • Ok I want the DVD I was there for all of it. JJ

  • @joejackson864 the link for the website is right under the video description - tommgygunvideo

  • @joejackson864 really? i wish! this is one of the best concerts of all time,,,saw thenm on the last tour in 2009 was great but a bit too perfect.....saw pg in 2006 and same thing ...they need to get togeather and get over the crap that stopped the greatest band of the 20th century

  • at 1:30 it looks almost like an actual pro shooting

  • very cool footage - great tune

  • stunning, beautiful, heavy, wonderful. never changes in the 1,000 times i've heard this

  • Thank you for posting it!! Peter is "everything"!! Genesis was a dream!

  • This is mi first big concert in Cascais in 1975 and I think this is the first in the tour. Fantastic

  • Hey, check out Moonlit Knight Genesis Tribute out here on youtube, and if your in the North West of england, come an check us out. Cheers ;-)

  • They turned me on at 12 and never left me I'm 52
