A desktop PC, nowadays, is really easy to troubleshoot / repair so if you know anything about computers you should be able to repair it yourself. That means its only the computer illiterates (let's be honest mainly women) who would call a PC repairman in the first place and they are wide open to being ripped off.

me too, few of my clients have really horrific storys they tell me about (with DSG n various little shops locally).
hats off to us guys/gals out there giving a professional and honest service we need to do more to get these con businesses out the industry.
