  • well, now it's more accurate because he did go to jail

  • @rondevuz Indeed. It's been over 5 years since I wrote the first book. The show has since dealt with many of the issues I raised. I wrote about more recent events and issues in "House, M.D. vs. Reality" which was published earlier this year.

  • lol that guy has the best job ever. Watching Houst all day every day for a year lol

  • the house stuff was a real guy the show is based on that

  • Is the author the same guy who owns this channel? cool. hi

  • What an ass! It's just a show! If it was all boring cases it wouldn't be interesting. That's the point of movies, books, tv, ect. is to have something interesting and suspenseful and not necessairly plausible/true.

  • @sexyblanket Thanks for commenting. Enough people are interested that this book has sold 100,000 copies or more in 9 languages so far. Certainly many people share your initial reaction, which is why the first chapter of the newly-released "House, M.D. vs. Reality" begins with a chapter titled "It’s Just a Show!"

  • Omg, doesn't matter if he would go to jail or not in real life.

It's a show with fictional characters made for entertainment purposes only people! Wow.

  • @ipodgirl95 Many people agree with you. That's why the first section of the new "House, M.D. vs. Reality" book, "It's Just a Show!" looks at why even fictional tales matter in the real world.

  • "He would be in Jail"

Really now? Has he not seen cases were some doctors went 20-30 years going through a LIST of violations a day before finally being FORCED TO RESIGN (Not even arrested)

  • @WhiteTiger225 Oh, yes... you are right that those cases exist. My comment was based on the scenarios in the show in which House flagrantly violates criminal codes... and is investigated by authorities... only to miraculously escape consequences time and again. For example when Cuddy commits perjury in order to deflect prescription fraud charges. While I wouldn't claim that such a compounded crime has never occurred, in real life there is a limit to the lengths colleagues will go.

  • publicity.

  • "in the real world gregory house would be in jail"... was that suposed to be an unexpected surprise to the series fans? XD

  • @AshiteratsuAka well, that clip is just from a TV news report meant for people who mostly know little, if anything, about the show. Take a look at the book if you want to see the full context.

  • he wouldn't be in jail because the kid was having a night terror about house cutting off his toe, you morons... although some other actions are questionable.

  • That book is $15 I believe on iBooks, I have the sample version. I was thinking about buying it.

  • Anyone knows where I can order this book online please?

  • @AceHalford You can order a signed copy of "The Medical Science of House, MD" or pre-order a copy of the new "House MD vs. Reality" through the links at holtzreport(dot)com/housemd/

If you want a regular, unsigned copy...

    go to astore(dot)amazon(dot)com/holtzreport-20

(The Real Grey's Anatomy is also available through these sites.)

  • @holtzas Thanks alot mate, you've been great help =)

  • House is supposedly the best in the world. So of course he would be employed SOMEWHERE if he was real. Save a life is thee name of the game. Even though there were very few people who would want to deal with him in the show.

  • @1college07 Maybe that is his hobby?

  • Mr. Obvious...

  • BOOOOO!! Let him out of jail!

  • what the fuck is wrong with this guy

whats wrong with America, is this news?

  • the only problem with this news report is that it's a fox news report and house is a fox production

  • you are stupid or just people calling you stupid in replace of your real name which i believe is funny :)))))))))))))) hahahaha......

  • it's only a movie. What the hell are you talking about. it does not need to be truth or to be as it is in the real world because its made to be a movie and nothing else

  • And why shouldn't it be? It may only be entertaining-- I'll give you that, God knows there are enough scams out on TV, internet, media and entertainment in general, etc. but for a show that relies so much on medical jargon for script, it's only natural for scene-writers to research a bit. They could have a doctor in their ranks.

Of course, I'm not really saying you're wrong. It really is just a movie. I just know that if I made a movie about something like this, I would use lots of FACTS.

    ^_^

  • damn straight

  • @ajnc1000 its a show u dumbass...

  • Comment removed

  • Greenday2113 it's a serial movie you stupid little kid who listen to stupid punk

  • He's not even a doctor.

There's actually a website out there that has actual medical reviews of house...by an actual doctor, and sure enough, there are more errors than there is fact.

  • Nice ^^ Wanna buy he book. Maybe very interessting.

    German sucks? Shut up fool.

Unsere Synchronsprecherkultur ist unübertroffen ob in Hörbücher oder Serien/Filmen.

  • You can buy a signed copy from my web site (follow the link in the video description. YouTube blocks links in comments.) or regular copies are on Amazon.

  • Whoohoo! I have that book. It is sooo cool.

  • Is there a German Version of this book?

  • So far no German publisher has shown interest. It is indeed odd that you can buy it in Czech, Turkish, Dutch... as well as Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and other languages, but not in German.

  • thank you

  • loooool

"in the real world .. Greg. House would be in jail"

    totally agree :)

  • omg, just watch the fucking show. ^^

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH is this a joke

  • HOUSE STILL ROCKS. PERIOD.

  • Lol @ people who complain about TV shows not being real enough

  • i love hugh laurie !! he is such AMAZING ACTOR !! i dont see any other actor can play this Dr.House role which is very Baaa !! I love Dr.House character which is arrogant, funny and cured patients without we realise .

  • I have the book of House MD by Andrew, and some of the stuff he says in it is FALSE! don't listen to the bullcrap! House MD rocks!

  • I love house i think its the best show ive ever seen and will see hugh is such a good actor and his brittish and i though he was american cause of his accent i think its just the best ive ever seen and his talking about fiction and when he says if house was real he would be in jail he sounds like a fact like "this show sucks he cant do thats its ilegal or impossible than no show is good enouhgh

  • I agree with Jeffhardy, you think a man who was watching enough House to write a book would catch that not only people in NJ go to him, he's sought out all over the world D8. And as for House being fired, yes, hospitals who actually went by the books would likely fire him, but not everyone goes by the books. And lastly, it's fiction, it's still just entertainment, but it's one of the more logical shows that can still be entertaining to watch.

  • In a high proportion of the shows, House sends his minions to check patients' homes in the same town as the hospital, right?

  • Yeah XD that is one tippet I forgot to mention, but everyone knows doctors don't bust into your home in real life XD. But yes, he does send his team to break into the patients homes and I have yet to see one where he sent them out of town to do it, though he might of I'm not sure, but most of his intrusions are at home XD. But he is known world wide and there are patients that come from him from out of town. And though doctors breaking in is inaccurate, people forget it's entertainment.

  • if the show had only "ordinary cases" it would get boring very quickly, and most important, we watch tv to scape reality, because sometimes real life can be boring!

  • "But the odds of all these cases appearing in one hospital in NJ?"

Well, what do you expect? For the writers to make it in a bunch of different hospitals? What'd be the point of that? Fox must assume we're all idiots if they actually think we care about the validity of the cases in House. I love House, and all, but it's entertainment. We know not everything is going to be true, and they probably couldn't be constantly pulling fake diseases out their asses.

  • I agree with TheLadyOfTheWest. Get a life. lol

  • Wow, this dude has NO life. I mean, it's a show and its entertaining. its also FICTION

  • love it! i love house!

  • They said it is very unlikely that these all happened in one town. They don't, House is just a sought after doctor. People come to him. Just wanted to point that out.

  • @jeffhardy672 That's true - but no matter how famous House is, the chances that all those ridiculously rare diseases would end up in one hospital are zero. Absolutely zero. I love House though, don't get me wrong!

  • @jeffhardy672 Also I've seen episodes where Cuddy complains that House hasn't had a case in weeks!

  • hehe the reporter's name is JAMIE WILSON.. like JAMES WILSON,

    HAHA :D

  • HAW HAW HAW HAW!!

  • i know, i thought that was hilarious

  • Lmao thats what I thought when I first saw that too! xD

  • @jessespencerislove That was the first thing I noticed too! For a second there I thought the whole thing was a parody XD.

  • @jessespencerislove thats exactly what i said!

  • @jessespencerislove Distant relative perhaps? ;)

  • Did you even watch the video?

  • I FUCKING LOVE HOUSE! theese people are gay. ahahha.

  • Who the fuck cares? It's a great show

  • Ummm wow whats the point of all this....its a tv show...ummm its not meant to be exact reality....and like mj1903ikjshdj said if it was based on your local gp cant say Id watch a show about kids with runny noses and grannys with bad hips. LOL!! But...I guess if you got time to kill and nothing else to do why not check the 'reality' of a tv show out. Wish I had that kinda time on my hands. LOL!!

  • hahaha Jamie Wilson. great reporter to do a thing on House

  • if it were a show about a typical doctor, doing typical cases, it wouldnt be interesting

  • don't agree..it depends on form..

  • Lol, I dont understand why people are getting all worked up about this. It's interesting and it's NOT trying to knock House. He's simply advertisting his book. Duh.

  • ANYONE that studies every fxxking frame of every fxxking episode of House MD (which is the best show on tv) OBVIOUSLY has no life.

  • So?

  • he got his book published didn't he? I'd say he has a pretty successful life and did before that too, since he was a medical reporter.

  • You know you in fact can say fuck on the internet....

  • it's fox, all in fox it's bullshit, could you believe this?

    -.-"

  • I wonder. Did that hit my nuts...?

No guess not, I'm gonna go watch House.

  • ok well they missed realy big facts of this show first off its a tv show sojust get over it and the second thing is yes all these people end up in the same hospital because if they didnt we wouldnt have a show dam freek has no life

  • is this news? a part of the writing crew is a medical staff that do nothing but come up with bizzare cases,

  • House MD is the best medical show ever!!! That reporter has no life.

  • its a tv show stop talking shit and just enjoy it

  • woah this is my news station :P

  • same here and i even remember seeing this

  • i knew it was reall!!!!!!! get alot of knowledge from that show! WHOO and btw MD stands for medicine and diagnostision

  • MD doesnt stand for that. Youre an idiot.

  • I agree 100%, OP is totally gay.

  • is that what it stands for the in the USA, in UK it stands for 'doctor of medicine'.

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D., from the Latin Medicinæ Doctor meaning "Teacher of Medicine") is a doctorate degree for physicians (medical doctors). The degree is granted from medical schools. ~ Wikipedia

  • No. You are incorrect.

  • how about the episode with the alligator from Neptune with the blue peaches growing off its kidney? could that happen?

  • rjmyy, was that supposed to be funny?

  • Lol, it's just a show... How would the reporter dude know what's "real" anyway, he's not an MD. There are some things that were highly unlikely - psittacosis on a non-immunocompromised pt; taking forever to daignose pheochromocytoma when a malignantly high BP + elevated serum E & NE should do; and the obese dude with small cell carcinoma lung = hypoxia and thus, clubbing. House & friends checked the dude's fingers AFTER they did an LP... Why so un-real? Cuz it's just a show. Not robbins & cotran

  • lol ur probably an MD or a med student at least, huh? i actually saw that episode, the psittacosis one, and i was thinkin the same thing - asthma is a hypersensitivity rxn, not immunocompromization! and lmfao on the robbins, it's too good, but way too long

  • lol, i'm just a med student, in my 2nd year. how bout u? wait, did u actually read the whole of robbins? i just used it for clarification of brs, and looked at the pics for step (lol)

  • i'm in 3rd semester, just starting out path.. nah i just read like a paragraph of robbins and decided it was way too long. brs is not so good, either. in my school we have kaplan books, those are way more manageable i think. ok good luck w/step, best of luck!!

  • when you travel around the world for cnn for many years going to each continent to research you pick up a few things i immangine

  • Does anybody else find it ironic that the reporter's name is jamie WILSON?

  • "And of course, in the real world, Gregory House would be in jail." XD lmaoo

  • Haha, this made me want to watch House. I think I will!

  • umm ya why wouldnt it be real? P.S

    Chase Iz Always Wrong xD

  • This guy must have a real obsession with the show to want to do all the research on it. Sadly most people who watch the show won't really be reading his book, and honestly, they wouldn't much care for it if they did.

Fact of the matter is that its a tv show with fictional characters. Maybe next time he could write a book on the reality of "Heroes".

  • The woman reporting this story's, name is Jamie Wilson.

    Funny.

  • ok but does any notice this is fox news?

  • it must be so cool to actually have a degree in medicine so u could watch the show and solve the puzzle of the dying patient with House and see who gets it first...

  • lol i thought that do. that'd be awesome to be able to do.

  • yeah....wouldnt that e a great reason to become a doctor?

    moron

  • its rediculously frustrating to do so - have managed one so far!!!!

but bear in mind its been with me for my 5 years of med school, so i've progressed with it!!

they do things in such an odd order, usually Hx, examination and then tests serves you well, but in house they jump all over!!!!

  • What A Fool.

There are 5 very good Doctors that do the Medical Research.

  • yeah...but the other doctors are ALWAYS wrong

  • and of course in the real world... gregory house would be in jail

  • So would Foreman.

  • That guy doesn't realize that House treats special cases from across the country, not just locally.

  • Not just across the country - Dr. House treats cases from all around the world, as well.

  • The Cuban girl episode...Ah! that was a good one.

  • And the case with the woman in Antarctica.

  • This guy seems pretty obsessed with Hugh Laurie. <3

  • Haha!!! I'm from Portland! I watch this news! LOL

  • Does everyone know that House is a fictional TV show? It's just for entertainment.

  • They say in real life House would be in jail. Yet in real life we have politicians that were MD that did dang near the same thing now they want to control your health care? Funny how we now watch history for entertainment. Let the government take care of our health care. Everything else they manage is so well ran.lol

  • I just fiured out that Star Wars are not for real too! Are we to believe that Yoda can live 800 years? That`s not possible! And now I propose FOX to make a story about my observations...

  • Well, the conglomeration of cases isn't that strange: part of the premise is that people go to House (from all over the world) when no other doctor can diagnose their problem.

If you google "Polite Dissent House", you'll get a blog from a doctor whose pastime is analyzing these episodes. Apparently, the medicine is sometimes quite good, and often better than usual for medical shows, but there are some oddities. (Perhaps there are explanations that the author of that blog isn't aware of.)

  • NullShade,

Well said. I'm surprised people don't realize that more often. I often hear that it'd be too unlikely for one doctor to get all these cases, but if he specializes in such things and receives referrals, it's no more unlikely than a cancer center getting all the cancer cases in a region. The most unlikely aspect of the show, in my opinion, is how much stuff House actually gets away with. They do stretch that a bit, but god is it ever fun to watch!

  • Yeah, that's true there was even that episode that began with the guy coming over to the US from Cuba in a rowboat to meet house. So it's implied he's globally known.

  • well, all these rare cases wouldn't happen in one hospital, but I think the point is to show that these things happen

  • Who cares if it's unrealistic to happen in the same hospital?

If the cases are actually non-fictional (real), then it's just a bonus for the viewers. It has almost inspired me to become a doctor (I'm 15), but I prefer astronomy.

  • Honestly, who cares if it's 100% real or not? It's just entertainment. People want to be entertained when they watch T.V. they don't sit there and worry if it's fake or not.

  • it should be real though because it makes the show that much more interesting

  • tell that to my dad, lol. he sits there just the the author and analyze everything about each epi. the one thing that he comments on almost everytime is that the "ducklings" are the ones doing the MRIs and all that stuff instead of technicians, but i think hes just mad that we got him liking the show too :P

  • In addition to his brush with the law over Vicodin abuse, in some episodes House has physically assaulted patients... and performed medical tests and procedures without the patient's consent, which can be a form of assault. Also, he failed to report child abuse by the father of a patient, falsified billing records, and so on and so on.

  • Why would house go to jail in real life?

  • This guy is wasting his time, if u read about the creation of house, medical students and professors write the cases for the show while the show writers create the drama

  • a former weather reporter?why not a doctor speaks about House M.D. "strange cases"....lame publicity

  • alinn05,

a former health reporter, not a former weather reporter. your ears work much better when you're using them ;)

  • he's a former HEALTH reporter...

hopefully you can READ this better than how you heard the VIDEO

  • i always thought it was totaly fake!!!

  • Well the formula works. It's like a detective show with diseases instead of criminals. It makes for fun TV. And of course it's impossible to see all those rare cases in one hospital, just like it's impossible that Leutenant Columbo got all the "impossible" murder cases, but it's fun to watch. I've even tried to guess the solution (It's often one of the first diagnosis). And of course the humor, drama and Hugh Laurie's acting add to the package. One of the best TV shows ever!

  • i love how the person who reported on this was names jamie wilson....its like it was planned

  • I LOVE House! It's amazing how much of the story is true! It's awesome! It's really cool that they actually looked for crazy cases like that that are true...

    way to go, House writers!

  • that dude needs a life

  • Hey, gotta have a hobby!

  • hey you never know all those thing could happen in new jersey,

which is a strange land indeed :D

  • I like HouseMD, and many of the cases are pretty real, of course with its own proportion of drama, no one can surely know how long it will take to an infection create an organic failure. Yeah, House rules!! but he doesn't know how to use an sthetoscope in its right position!!!!

  • i so love House as well!!!!! I am making a story on one of the episodes that i get to make up and let me tell you it's hard work! I had to look up things and the person in the story (age 15) IS having Inernal Bleeding. Well to get that u have to have certain things happen to ya and it's crazy!

  • sheesh its just a show of course there will be some fictional stuff cause u know its a show a great show i wonder if that guy got paid 2 do that lol anyway this show is so great i forgive bryan singer for living xmen to do that superman movie

  • Interesting...

Jamie Wilson, then the character James Wilson in the show.

    Coincedences are funny.

  • Wow, that's so cool. :)

  • Speaking from 15-years experience in Pharmacy, 8-of which I managed a hospital pharmacy, House would have been out the door from an HR standpoint.

From a pharmacy standpoint, the way he walks up and gets his meds is absolute BS. That's not how it's done.

And believe me, hospitals take HR issues seriously as a first offense of a HIPPA rules violation could be as much as $250,000.

    But still a great show.

  • [H]ouse is possibly the most epic show ever, and I hope my addiction to it never dies. Still, spending your days dissecting every frame of the show to see if it is realistic or not is... Ehm. Well. Past my obsession. And I am -really- obsessed. Anywho, who cares if it's realistic or not? The show is AMAZING. Hugh Laurie can bring down the world with a script.

  • great show but that guy wasted a year of his life, if he had the dvd and watched the special features, the writers acually say they get all there ideas from real life things and its all true/real.

  • Same here. I was bored and truly thought the show would suck one night and 3 seasons later I'm still watching it, and definitely waiting on the 4th! It would be cool if there were more real doctors like house. Then again there may be... on second thought that doctor might be in jail! lol

  • Doctors can get addicted to drugs just like anyone else. Especially if they get addicted in the same manner that House did. House's drug use started out as legitimate pain management (and I think it still is, some of it, anyway). But it progressed to psychological addiction.

I have had a similar experience with post-operative pain, but my medication led to physical addiction, which, in my opinion is worse than psychological.

  • oh my god! "welcome to budapest, the capital of hungary!". it shows just how few americans seem to know about the world. i mean, c'mon guys, do you really need further explanation when you hear the names of capitals? or is it just the media who misrepresent you? cause many people over here get the feeling that 90% of the americans don't even know where hungary (or scotland, or ghana etc.) is. "on the axis of evil", probably. correct me, if i'm wrong ;).

  • I have a question for ya, where are the Azores located? What nationality makes up the population? Do YOU know that too? Just curious! lol ;) Btw, I am American but how would you like to be generalized and grouped in with stupid ppl from your country now tell me is that fair? My country has a lot of ppl and for you to stand there and say "AMERICANS" that is stupid in and of itself.

  • Ok smartass, which country is Vaduz capitol of?

  • LMAO '...and then of course, in the real world, Gregory House would be in jail.' :b Nice! I've always wondered about the medical cases in House, the names always sound made up!! And I've read that the cases in Greys Anatomy are real, but 'rare as hens teeth'.

  • by watching house and absorbing the info you can really learn alot.

  • I ended up watching HOUSE because I was bored, now I bought all 3 seasons and waiting for the 4th season! Awesome show!

  • brilliant show

  • OMG HER NAME IS JAMIE WILSON. Like JAMES Wilson from House. lol!

  • that was the most pointless news story since the 1914 London Times ran the story "Things for husbands to do while at home for long periods"

    said in rowan atkinson accent

  • I love the series!

  • these people are just bored. haha

  • well, its interesting to see that for the most part house could not really happen, but i do not consider the big draw to the show to be its accurate medical information. As long as the writers do their homework and keep things relatively believable, I am not complaining.

  • Another proof of why this is an awesome show.

  • People who study TV dramas for accuracy? We call these people BORED!

  • Wow! "Welcome to Budapest, capital of Hungary!"... lol, I didn't expect that. At least, now every 5th-grade student (and their opponents) can learn this ;).

By the way, House rocks :)!

  • I do love House though, it's my favourite show. Sometimes not entirely realistic, but come on, it's purpose is to entertain, not teach LOL

Plus, Hugh Laurie is in it, so that makes it brilliant no matter what in my opinion hehe (A)

Plus Jen Morrison (yay for House/Cameron! :P), and Jesse Spencer. Hugh Laurie and Jesse Spencer eyecandy, what more could a girl want?! :P

    xxxx

  • 17 and applying to med school....wow I wished I was in Europe lol. Do you all have to take the MCAT too?

  • I agree completely, Just not the House-Cameron part. (im a ChaseCam, But i completely respect your view!) :)
