I purchased a new 2010 Suzuki SX 4 in spring of 2010. It has only been driven the city in temperate non-winter conditions. No ice, snow, or gravel on the road. Much of the front end is pitted with paint chips. They are everywhere, right down to the primer. I take my car in for regular service intervals and keep it clean. The finish is rapidly disintegrating. I spoke with Suzuki corporate and they recommend I take it into the dealership. I will do this and keep you all posted.

faggot.., first of all gayest song ive ever heard in my life but i guess i should expect that from the demographic who buys suzukis, if you want to impress someone go on a rally course and slide around corners, yea of course it will slowly traverse minor ruts and ditches, its an awd car, and magicbikecrew- you know nothing about 4x4's a locking differential converts power from the wheel(s) that is off the ground spinning to the ones that are on the ground/ FUCK THIS SONG TO HELL
@DensetsuNoMajo The car lost traction, as I was doing this at low speed. Without long suspension travel, the wheel was free spinning. SX4's Lock mode allows _some_ free movement. The AWD is no doubt the same in the 2010 model.
@darwiniandude SX4's Lock mode blocks only the central differential, the front and the rear one are "open". So if one wheel in the front and one in the back of the car have no traction (the case in this video) you' re pretty much in trouble.
damn..if you lived in country side a lot, buying this car just stupid..4wd truck is a smart choice..all the thing that this car do in this video, can be done in speed by 4wd truck or suv..awd only to improve handling not give traction in mud or deep snow, they still lack of central dif lock let alone low range.. for the price of this car, you can get a nice suzuki jimmy which is a true go in the bush vehicle.
I think you're missing the point here. These guys bought these cars for the regular on the road tasks but the cross over design allows for some flexibility off road which is nice. Going home to my moms over the weekend is 98% tarred road but there the final 2 -3 KM of so of dirt road and if you happen to get to that portion after a heavy rain, this helps to a certain extend, especially for some people who do not want to drive big trucks and SUVs
Look at other Suzukis' in the past they are designed to go off road, this will do it just as well because the bumpers are so short that the wheel hits the ground first anyways if you pick an american 4X4 they are kind of useless since they don't have the traction controls that this has. It would actually be just as good if not better.
do some real "off road" then come back and leave a comment whether SX4 can do that real "off road"..it is not about bumper so short or wheel hits the ground first but it is about how big the tires you can fit into your truck or off road vehicle coz in off roading, tires matters as well as how much ground clearance you got and also low range gear box
@AdrianC12345 No, not really, a Jeep Wrangler has enough articulation that it can keep all four wheels on the ground instead of free spinning. And the new Rubi's are locked, so all the wheels move at the same time.
@AdrianC12345 Yes, I know. The Wrangler should stay the same though. Other vehicles should be more road worthy, maybe with Fiat in control some changes will be made.
I was in Darwin once and coincidentally I'm planning to buy an SX4.
I loved Darwin! So relaxed, so peaceful, ir seemed anyone could be happy.
Only the situation of the aborigenees was appaling. They go to that Casuarina mall and seem, like, sad. They're everywhere and look like zombies, with no sense in life. I understand it is hard to deal with the matter but you feel ashamed of being a human being, honestly.
I Own a SX4 same color AWD live in Quebec and did my first winter with it I was amazed how it handles in snow. The Car handles great my first Car in 15 years and I used to Own different Jeep's Cherokee's Grand Cherokee's.Only thing I miss about jeep is it 's ground clearance,Sometimes I forget that with my SX4 lol.
It's raining hard here now, and I need to go out. I'll take the SX4 because of the visibility, traction in the wet and the giant side mirrors. I wasn't sure about having a drivers side convex wide angle mirror in the beginning, but I love it: I can check my blind spot without turning my head in an instant.
If I didn't care more for the car I'm sure I could push it harder in offroad situations and get through most things. I guess I also like that the engine design is fairly simple. The use of a timing chain vs a belt is a massive servicing saving - it means I don't have to do a timing belt every 100,000k's. I've recently started driving my 300ZX again, and the SX4 is so much grippier in the corners being AWD, and has stiff enough suspension to not induce much body roll.
I believe the AWD SX4 has great options. No normal person should ever get stuck. I wouldn't want to destroy mine fucking around, but it looks like it has more than enough clearance so that I should be able to tell what's too tall and'll hit.
I love this little car. Had it for just over two years now, 60,000k's. Still goes like it did on day one. 100% reliable, no issues, insanely grippy in the corners even in the wet. The ideal daily driver for me and I can venture off onto whatever tracks I come accros without fear of getting stuck somewhere. It's pretty obvious to me when I find a 4WD track serious enough that it'd be out of the SX4's depth, but it's very capable.
Yes, no LSD... but then it's not a _real_ 4WD (no low range either, does at least have a full time lock though) just a cheap to run versatile little car. Had it for almost 2 years now, it's going well! :) I can explore most places, certainly get a lot further than I could in a normal small car.
I just got one of these.Pearl white 2009 AWD w/nav system. No one ever mentions the built in bluetooth in the nav unit that works through the car stereo, I actually talk through the radio with people from my cellphone how freaking cool is that? This car is MILES better than the thin painted plastic toy I traded in for it(2006 scion xa), funny thing about it is the heavy, solid, Volkswagen-like driving demeanor, plus, Suzukis are cheap to insure, actually costs less to insure than the previous car.
There are a few around here, don't know how well they sold though. The Aerio was called a Liana over here in Australia. I thought they looked a bit strange, but hey some feel that way about the SX4. Unfortunately, our Lianas were a 1.8L FWD, in the US they got a 2.4L with AWD, I would have considered a second hand one of those had they been made here.
Driver can chose between 2WD, AWD Auto, and AWD Lock. 2WD is better mileage, Auto's great for mixed weather days, and AWD Lock for off roading or a snow filled driveway (lock is for 37 mph's or less). Its a great handling car that's extremely fun to drive, and it does well in all types of weather conditions. I average 29 mpg's with mixed highway/city driving. Only downside to this car in my opinion is its 11 gallon gas tank.
I think cars shouldn't have awd, they just consume way to much gas...and what's the point anyway..it's not like if you're going to take your awd CAR to do some off-roading..their just to low...and the make doesn't matter..I wouldn't buy a Subaru Impreza for instance..only if I did rally which I don't..I leave that to traditioanl SUVs...nice car btw..
I get (converted) 30mpg on mine if i'm being nice, or if i'm sliding it through corners and being aggressive for a whole tank it drops to 25 mpg. I have the manual. Saying cars shouldn't have AWD is pretty naive. Sure it's not needed around town, but in Australia we have many long winding dirt roads with poor conditions, water ruts etc. Due to the low population density we can't have perfectly maintained roads everywhere. So having AWD provides safety and traction that is very desirable to me.
this guy is a fucktard i love the suzuki because i want a suzuki its cheap has every thing i want and i live in a place where they dont take care of the roads in the winter so awd is a must
Well spotted :) Although that track has changed a bit in the last year, dunno how it would go now. (I could still get through it, but it's currently deep and slushy and way more rutted, it would probably damaged the little SX4 so i'll keep it away from there for now.
I'd like a Sierra or something for offroad stuff, keep the SX4 for a daily driver. I have a Pajero now for offroad mucking around. The Sierra's hold their value too well. :(
Really awesome video man. I bought my SX4 two months ago and take it all over the states. Have yet to take it offroading, but your video has me itching to get it dirty! Look forward to seeing more SXy-4 videos...

I own an SX4 and must say its a great all-around vehicle... good in snow, great gas milage, comfortable on long trips, pulls my motorcycle & trailer easily. Nice job on video!
Agreed! :) Plenty of torque in any gear. It's comfortable on long trips and you can explore when you get there. I'm very happy with mine 11 months and 34,000 k's later. Would have liked a 6SP manual instead of the 5, but the car isn't offered in that configuration. Oh well. It does tow well. It's a very 'solid' feeling car.
Thanks for the kind words. Yes, no lockable rear dif. Having said that it isn't too bad as there is no centre diff at all, but as you can see in the video, when that back left wheel spun, the front right wheel was also off the ground. Not much suspension travel for off road stuff, but the car isn't really built for that, but it's a lot of fun to drive on the road, and lets me explore dirt tracks much more sensibly than I could in a 2WD vehicle.

The video i must admit is well made but the car sucks because it has no differencial blocking ad it's too low.And don't forget that it's made by fiat.If you want a low price offroad car buy the Suzuki Jimny
Thanks :) It's not made by Fiat. It's made in Japan, by Suzuki. Fiat supply the diesel engine used in some markets, that's all. The SX4 does not have a diff lock, it has no low range, and it is fairly low, but better than a non 4WD. It's still quite capable for tame things. And yes, the Jimny is MUCH more capable off road but the Jimny is a horrid little truck to drive on highways and paved roads, much as I love the Jimny. I bought the SX4 mainly as a daily driver.
I had it pre-installed when I bought the car from the dealer here in Australia. However, the annoying this is that the electrical connection is a long cord that you shut the hatch on, (and pinch the cord in the process!) so I'll be mounting it properly...
wow awesome camera angles, I bet doing this by yourself took some time since I know from experience. Cute animals at the end. I want to see more video's like this.

Good video! Nice shots. Still, I dunno what the cat&dog 69 is doing here :-/

wow awesome camera angles, I bet doing this by yourself took some time since I know from experience. Cute animals at the end. I want to see more video's like this.
