  • Lego trains are better but enlighten but enlighten have good value

  • post more videos like this not that it has to be the cars but not like the last 5 vids you made

  • the roof brick r louse on mine and one of my order was damage. the green one

  • do you think it would look nice with the red couch and the fersco fe togehter

  • Comment removed

  • @benjaminthomas2000 I can try that in a video and see how it looks.

  • i agree enlighten has a very good variety of trains as they are good looking and compatible with lego trains only if enlighten and lego could combine there ideas and make a improved train

  • lego is better but the enlighten trains are pretty good looking like the steam trains and its also good the lego track and the enlighten track can go together

  • @simsy72 Yes I agree, I wish LEGO had as big a selection of trains as Enlighten does. If all things were equal, I would always pick LEGO, but with the wide variety of sets, and the much lower prices, Enlighten is worth looking at.

  • Lego plastic quality is much better than Enlighten. You can tell from the look/feel & how Lego bricks can be put together much more securely.

Having said that, but I still buy Enlighten because of the price diffs, and as bm22 said, the variety and the freedom to buy the cars only.

Most often I buy Enlighten just for the base plates and wheels, and then put REAL lego bricks on top.

LEGO is too aggressive to force us to buy whole sets of trains instead of indivdual engines/cars.

  • @youtship I do a bit of that myself, but I think most of the LEGO train base plates are now made in China too, and of this same lower quality softer plastic. And even though I'm gladly willing to put up with a little less quality for a much lower price and a better selection, I still buy LEGO train sets too. I just bought both of those Cargo Trains; and for the price they cost, I’m a bit disappointed with them.

  • @BeanMeister22 No their not, Most things made in China by LEGO, are the Electric Work and the Specialized Pieces.

  • @BeanMeister22

Sadly, I have to agree with you recent Legos are m.i.c too, as I just found in my 2 recent lego sets: 8043 excavator & 7938 passenger train.

Do you have idea about the type of plastic Englighten is made from?

I did some google search but couldn't confirm that they use the same ABS plastic as Lego (the least toxic and toughest toy-grade plastic).

I am a bit concerned as I may let me children play with Enlighten.

  • @youtship

I'm not sure about the type of plastic it's made from, but I'm sure it is lower in quality. But with the much lower price of Enlighten, I have no problem with the lower quality plastic. Also, in many of my Enlighten sets, they include extra hands for the mini figs in case they break. I have considered buying one of those lead home testing kits, and testing the Enlightened bricks. But truly theses days anything that comes out of China is a suspect for lead, formaldehyde, or worse.

  • @youtship I totally agree with you here. I have also noticed that if you compare the newer LEGO train base plates with the Enlighten ones, they both seem to be made of the lower quality plastic; softer than the normal LEGO bricks. Another downside to this LEGO marketing aggression, is the flourishing aftermarket for LEGO sets where people are charging 10 times more than their original price because the set can no longer be bought new. No wonder there is such a large black-market on these toys.

  • I like the Enlighten looks, and it seems from a buisness standpoint they are marketing better, but how has China not been sued yet like Megabloks has by lego? When theyre seemingly the same acording to you? Now I probably would get these enlighten products if they have what i want because lego breakes my bank with 1 single set, but this is scary how competitive China is, they can manufacture and ship overseas, and profit from a 10$ set with a high piece count...thats ridiculous.

  • @SnowFox226 So far, a couple of the locomotives and railcars I've reviewed match LEGO quality, and the rest of them were about 85% LEGO quality, but for the price it's no prob. I would bet they don't get sued, because they are not sold in the US market, which is LEGO's big money maker. Also, they are copies of old LEGO 9v trains, and LEGO either don't care, or gave them license. Side by side with LEGO units, some of these lack the LEGO detail, but they are fine for what they are...affordable :)

  • bm22, you could do a price comparison my counting up the bricks, lego tends to have a fairly high price per brick and remember it is basically double where i live

  • @leokimvideo I can do a price per brick comparison, but since LEGO will not sell locomotives and railcars individually, the results might go right over their heads. I will include price per brick in my next review video.

  • @BeanMeister22 i was going to add a price per brick on my lego v megabok firestation, and from memory it was 22c per brick of lego versus 7 cents per brick of mega blok, in the end i left these details out of the video as it may have been too shocking for many to consider

from what I have read the US price per brick averages out to 11 cents with lego, but please don't quote me on that, the problem with average is it's average!

  • can you do a comparisan on the mini figs show that they are compadible with lego or not?

  • @TheJosh4635 Yes, I will upload a video about the mini figs later today. Thanks for making that request.

  • Lego is the best

  • @legofan8401 but not the price

  • @legofan8401 Yes LEGO is the best, but their quality has been coming down over the last few years.

  • @legofan8401 lego is having some major breakages with the little hands now, lost count of tubers telling me the hands on the ningago stuff breaks when inserting weapons, sad to see a premium brand suffer due to cheap chinese plastic

  • The 7938 train is a great set with 2 cars a lot of people have 2 of them

  • @legofan8401 Yes, but that set cost $180 in the US, and it costs a lot more in Australia. It is a good set, but it is by no means worth that much money, it needs more track and more railcars and the only way you are going to get more rail cars is to buy a whole new set, or buy Enlighten cars. So far the best value when it comes to LEGO train sets is either the Passenger Train set #7938 or even the new Red Cargo Train set #3677, but even those 2 sets are a bit over priced.

  • I don't know why, but I can't fathom buying other brands. This video does make me think though. Thanks :D

  • @toppertwist I understand that, and anymore don't see it as a problem buying things like this, because LEGO does not offer them. Besides, I can't imagine who would think it's a good idea having a train with only 3 cars, and no other way to buy extra cars. I bought 2 Hogwarts Express sets, just for the extra car. And as LEGO uses more and more lower quality parts from China and Mexico, they are losing their high ground when it comes to saying they charge a premium price, for a premium product.

  • @toppertwist thats a VERY interesting comment, lego know they have a spell over many people, from what I am seeing the days of lego serving up super overpriced toys is over, sure lego is the premium brand but it is also very much the most expensive

in the end we are talking toys here, not rope you need to climb mt everest, your life does not depend on you always buying lego, your wallet is going to be much fatter if decide to look at other brick companies

  • i like to watch your comparison videos, its good to know there are other good brands other than Lego to look out for.

  • @OrionCinemas Thanks, I hope we can all learn about these other brick companies together. It was only 8 months ago that I learned about Enlighten Bricks, and I bet there are other brick companies out there that I've not heard about yet.
